  1. I always stand on the tyres and hold the roof bars to reach the middle it easier to wash the roof that way ! Peter
  2. Remember that lifting the car on one jack can unsettle things guys if you start undoing the wheel bolts on the back wheels or something , always support the rear too or accidents can happen easily Running a garage we always use the sill edge these days as they are the designed jacking points on most vehicles but our trolley jacks have rubber contact poins and are wider than the home diy versions and are quite stable. Wheel Size

You could always ask a briskodian member who's waiting for a new se spec if they want to upgrade with a swop that may solve your problem ! I had a mate from a dealership pop in to where i work last week and he was using a 1.2 dsg and threw me the keys to try it after a 20 minute drive my opinion of the 1.2 was changed responsive quiet and a pleasing combination it was not what i expected at all however I still love my diesel and my seventeen inch alloys although they are a bit of a pain to clean. 4. All tyres have gone up in price as your tanks of fuel have due to the fact both are made from oil , however if you want winter tyres get the purchase done asap as the availability reduces as the demand rises and the brands that are left are the more expensive ones like pirelli or michelin, We have just bought in at work over 200 winter tyres for this year and possibly that is not enough really due to the winters getting harsher over the last few years and the knowledge and usage of the tyre buyers these days. Dont forget the winter tyre works best from 6 degrees downwards so you can run them almost half a year really so its not just for snowy conditions i fitted mine last year about the first week of november and removed them in the early part of march. I do agree with the idea of fitting a narrower spec tyre aswell this year my 225 section tyres are being snowshod with 215 sections to get more sharpness into its bite. Peter
  5. When the family and I go on longer journeys I try to make everyone comfortable the two little ones in the back with a dual dvd player which plays seperate movies and for the wife normally something like a gardening or supernanny dvd on on the columbus which I move the sound to her side of the car in the settings and do the software disablement on the motion sensor , which works but has its failings when you alter the climate control or anything as it reverts back to the draconion YOU CANNOT WATCH THIS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION stopping is not always possible on a motorways journey to reset it.I looked around and bought a Xcarlink bypass cable to disable the sensor for good it arrived quickly enough off Ebay and after a small fight with the interior trims it was fitted,on reconnection it says the normal I want a radio code which involved a phone call to caffyns in kent who tried to help but did not keep records of codes as it has to go to a Skoda agent get plugged in and talk to a computer in the main factory (Great i thought) which they offered to do , however I did not relish the 130 mile drive so i declined graciously.Time to call a favour I phoned a customer of mine who runs a Skoda dealership in isleworth and within half a hour its plugged in but it cant read the ecu the lead blocks this function so we whip the unit out get the serial number enter it wrong and get a code then lock the unit (Great and other phrases come to mind) after re-entering the correct serial number I have the code and leave my helpfull motor trade friends and wander back to my garage .You leave it now for a 1 hour countdown before you can enter the code again which worked I am pleased to say Now the dvd function works when in motion with this lead fitted but you loose the dial out and receive function on your phone and the reverse sensor display flashes on for a micro second when you engage reverse then disappears leaving just the audible sound so a bit of a major loss i feel and even though I tried different dip switch settings its not fully compatable with the columbus so I advise anyone to give this option a miss and use the bypass button trick until I discover another method which I will update you all on P.s this one is being returned for a refund from a honest E bay seller Peter

Welcome mate did you buy it from caffyns ? Peter
  7. Well all I can say is I really dont care what some biased reporter says about my car , Im 6'2 broad and happily fit in my yeti without coming near the roof lining and smile every single time I drive it as it is such a good car and good value for money and as long as i'm happy and feel this way why worry about other opinions and out of the list of comparison vehicles I would still be sitting in my yeti Peter
  8. Very happy owner

  9. Hi I really have a difficult time with your question and I sell and fit through myself and other staff members over 25,000 tyres a year aswell as brakes, exhausts, aircon and services on vehicles. I can only say that through my career of over twenty years doing this there is no perfect tyre for a car or person it comes down to what you drive like and expect from your car and drive , i have supplied on more than one occassion tyres to different customers on the same car with simular usage and one says black the other white it really is a individual choice. Things to look out for on tyres now is the correct size i.e 225 / 50 R 17 94 W which breaks down to 225 mm wide 50% of the width 17 rim diam and the 94 is load & torque range the R is radial and the W is speed 168mph now the next part is intresting and something just happening to all tyres now sold in the uk its the energy label which says all new tyres sold from the end of 2012 must come with energy rating-style labels that score them for noise, economy and wet weather handling hopefully to give the consumer some more information when deciding, there has been a change also within the last year which is the S rating at the end of a product code which is a decibel rating and will force Far Eastern firms to improve their quality as some have been using older patterns (very noisy) and recycled oil to farm a substandard product into the market I personnally will not stock a certain countries tyre as the product at the moment is inferior to others in terms of roundness and runout when fitted. I hope this helps in some way and my next tyre will be from the continental stable its called semperit which is the only brand offering a puncture and damage warranty free of charge at the moment but you will need to look for them as they are a chosen supplier item at the moment Peter
  10. Thats not a problem go to your local tyre outlet that does trucks and buy a flexible valve extension screw it on the valve then fold it back to face you should be under a fiver and saves taking the wheel out to check pressures. Peter
  11. Hi i manage a fastfit garage and have done now for too many years to remember , I was uncomfortable with the oil and filters service on my Tdi monster so when it reached 10,000 miles i decided to change the oil,oil filter and fuel filter as i mentioned in a previous post i'm glad i did the oil filter was in a very poor condition and would not have gone much further i think. The cost of three oil and filter changes is quite a lot if that is all your getting even with a good quality oil and original filter about £70 to £85 each would be more near the mark so see what you actually are getting for £447. I am going to change my engine oil and filter every 10,000 miles now hope this helps Peter
  12. I bought the original skoda plastic bumper strip which comes with double sided tape to stick it on with ,i cleaned the bumper with some detergent and stuck it on its been there for 3 months so far without coming off thank goodness If it does come adrift it's only bodyline double sided tape though. Convince me

When I looked at the tiguan three things really stuck out that I did not like 1,The boot space seems smaller than the yeti 2,When you open the rear doors the rear seats are covered by the inner door shuts and would make it more awkward when putting car seats between the wifes and my car possibly even damaging the tiguan with the isofix feet that stick out 3,The model I drove felt unresponsive even though it was a R line but all in all its a well built car I just prefer the yeti & am glad i chose it Peter
  14. Hi The K&N part number is 33-2865 and it takes about 10 mins to fit , as you stand in front of the car looking in at the engine it's on the right hand side at the front sort of behind the right corner of the radiator all you need is a T25 torx bit and enough capability to undo and tighten eight screws. This cheap modification improoves the cars fuel consumption and throttle responce and costs about £40 & dont forget a K&N is a lifetime filter as it can be cleaned instead of replacing. Peter
  15. On monday the the 7th my favorite car clicked into a 5 digit mileage yup it,s done 10,000 now so I decided that I was uncomfortable with the 20,000 mile longlife service on my new engine despite how good this car is. When i arrived at work on tuesday I phoned my skoda parts people and ordered the oil & fuel filter plus a sump bolt and washer (I dont need oil as I have about 25 gallons on tap) , when it was delivered on the sameday I thought i'd do it once the customers cars where finished but untill today that idea went out the window (it shocks me sometimes how famine to feast the motor trade goes) Today at 10,250mls I pulled the filters drained the oil cleaned all areas and refitted the whole lot but the reason for this post is that when I took the oil filter out of the trusty 140 tdi lump it was in a very poor condition very saturated and twisted on the elements as if it had done twenty thousand or so miles which makes me glad about my decision as from what I see today the filter would not have been doing much if anything in the next 10,000 miles so if you like your engine as I do consider a early oil and filter change. P.s the fuel filter was perfect and could have been left alone and the air filter got thrown away months ago when I put a much better k&n panel element in. Oil used 4.3 lts Comma longlife 5w-30 vag spec Peter
  16. I have goodyear excellence on mine o.e and as I have experienced before they are a bit noisy however they do a good job on grip etc , I am a goodyear fan and as I have various choices in my job and have generally ended up with them on my cars but when these wear out it's going to get your dunlops but in the sportmaxx TT version . I tried a set of spare golf wheels on the yeti which had nct 5 pattern goodyears on and they where quite a lot less noisy . P.s Dunlop is owned by Goodyear Peter
  17. Hi My centre armrest is a standard fit and has a height and forward reach adjustment so it goes where you want under the armrest you have the standard storage etc and at the rear facing the rear seats a vent and a small fold out storage pocket like a ashtray i suppose. I cant see a reason bar the vent plumbing if you wanted to connect them that it cant be fitted in on your car. hope this helps Peter
  18. The tracking on modern cars is easy to knock out with potholes and speed humps but if you had the problem from new and have notified the dealer then you have a case for reimbursment or warranty repairs however if you have not informed them and had it done then it will have to be a goodwill gesture on their part. I can only offer one more glimmer of advice make sure when you get it aligned that you have a four wheel alignment because the rear end can effect the steering as easily as the front and our style car has both ends adjustable. (I have 2 hunter wheel alignment machines and consider them the best in the business at the moment as I have for several years of managing a garage and correcting over 4-500 cars a month) Peter
  19. Hi Possibly it's down to the fact that the seats and driving position resemble a van rather than a car and your legs dont stretch out in front of you but bend at the knee for the pedals, try raising the seat so that the top half of your leg is fully supported by the seat down to the underside of your knees and position the back of the seat at a reasonable straightish position then move the seat forward or back to be able to fully depress the clutch without stretching. Hope this helps Peter P.s i'm 6.2 and its comfortable for me this way
  20. When i went to visit the dealers my youngest son fell in love with the toy so I ordered it to be put in the car when we collected it , if I remember it cost about £35.00 but as you can see it's so worth it and a pleasure that you could not miss in that smile Peter
  21. Hi Sanqhar I think this will finish your conversion off order these parts from your skoda agent they cost about £20 and reduce the height with a sharp stanley knife to the level you want put them in place and screw down with the special clips as necessary and with the left overs make a packer for the seat end between the boxes and glue it together or tape it as you wish then with your board it's job done all supported. Also dont forget a jack and brace I picked mine up for a tenner. 5L6 858 857 B iNSERT (PLASTIC BOX) 5L6 858 857 C INSERT 5L6 858 857 A INSERT 5L0 853 909 CLIP - 6 PIECES Hope this helps you and many many many thanks to the plumber who helped me get the pictures on here Peter
  22. Hi Sanqhar If you want tell me your e mail and ill send you a picture of the way to do the boot and solution I can beat metal into car bits make dead cars work and generally do most things with my hands but computers and posting pictures on here baffle me a bit so i cant post it for you to see Peter
  23. Congratulations enjoy your wise purchase like the rest of us Mine has just over 8,000 miles now and everyday I still have the new car smile factor my whole household loves the Yeti Pete
  24. Hi Sanqhar The wheel spec is: 3.5J18H2 ET25.5 VAG part number 1K0601027B The tyre spec is: Continental 125/70R18 99H The wheel & tyre are sourced from a 2005 GT TDI 140 golf mk 5 with the same 5x112 pcd on the wheel which is common on the VW/Seat/Audi/Skoda range now and this wheel can be found in a lot of the higher engine sized models but be carefull the lesser models have a 16" spacesaver with much lower rolling circumferance and also be carefull of the mk4 range because the stud pcd is 5x110 but I have seen this size tyre in the boot of the R32 mk4 on that wheel. Hope this helps Peter
  25. I always do the oil changes on my cars as I manage a garage and have looked after all the company cars on oil changes using comma prolife 5w-30 long life and it's spec covers Audi,Vw,seat and Skoda 504 00 / 507 00 acea A3 B4 C3 and comma guarantee the useability to the point if there oil is blamed they will support the garage stroke customer in any legal action required against the car maker who wants to send you a bill for the engine. This covers petrol and diesel long service regimes However if you get caught short and you have to top up with a non recommended oil i.e long life vauxhall or something my rule is any oil is better than no oil and unless you put loads in where a oil service is necessary it wont do anywhere near the harm that happens if you run it low on oil peter
