I put the standard radio in the car and I have the code, it works as it should but when I turn the car off and on again it asks me for the code every time? I have read about swapping the live for an aftermarket radio to work and I don't know if this was done by the previous owner or if that could be the problem but I can't see any wires that have been touched?

Symphony Radio and 6CD Changer retro fit vRS
Nickbes replied to Eccentric Toast's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
What is in there at the moment then? I though the symphony tape head unit and 6 disc changer were standard in the mk1 vRS? -
I have 225/45's all round on mine, only bought them less then a year ago and they were about £50-£60 cheaper for all four then the 205/50's

Just spoken to a local dealer who said if I take the V5, proof of ID they will plug it in and unlock it for me and they dont charge for it either Just need to wait for the new V5 to come back from the DVLA as I have just changed the number plate back from my private one.

I have decided to sell my vRS, when I bought the car I think the radio said 'safe' and didn't do anything, I wasn't bothered as I was putting a Sony radio in anyway. Now I want to sell the car I have put the Skoda radio back in this morning and it said 'safe' for a few seconds and it then it changed to '4 - - - -' as if it wants a code and I think it means someone has had 4 goes at it! I was hoping the radio would learn the code from the ECU as I'm sure I have read that somewhere? I can't see any radio code in any of the paperwork I have for the car so does that mean a trip to a Skoda dealer to get the code?

I replaced that hose last year (with another standard one) as I was getting a boost hesitation, once I removed the pipe I found that it had a big split in it, once replaced the boost hesitation was gone

Audi coilpack recall, turned into official Skoda Recall.
Nickbes replied to rk696's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I just phoned a Skoda dealer in Kent (as it’s the closet to where I live) and was told there is a recall for the coil packs and another one for a software update. I am not to keen on the software update as my car is mapped, would this overwrite the map and put it back to standard? I didn’t book the car in anyway as they said they do not do recall or warranty work on a Saturday and I work Monday - Friday and they said I would need to book 2 days off work (one for them to look at it and another to go back and do the work!!). Can I request not to have that done and just the coil packs replaced? Just wondered before I ring round and find a dealer that does recall/warranty work on a Saturday!! lol -
To those people that are fitting this themselves - do you also need VAGCOM to enable the system to work? I would love to have cruse control on mine and im sure I could fit it myself but I do not have VAGCOM.

How is this?

I will be looking for Golf mk4 aero wipers next time I go to a scrappy lol

I also have 225's on mine and had no problems, much cheaper then the 205's when I got them a year ago!

Skoda Octavia WRC Limited Edition...The Facts.
Nickbes replied to estorilblue's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I would say thats not a WRC, should have xenon light with headlight washers. I also think the WRC were not made as late as an 05 reg. I would say its probably been an ex-police car -
I bought the two front mats only for my vRS in October from theskodashop.co.uk good service and fast delivery. For info the part numbers are:- 1U2864495CJVM - vRS passenger side front carpet mat 1U2864496CJVM - vRS drivers side front carpet mat

Nope still got the white carpet, well off white/dirty as it needs a good clean lol

Sorry but another vRS front ARB bush question?
Nickbes replied to Nickbes's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Thanks I will look into ordering some 17mm ones in the next few days. -
Mine has dark roof, I'm not sure about all the models but if I remember correctly on the vRS the early ones (about 2001/02) had the light roof linning and the later ones (about 02 on) have the dark roof. It might be worth a try at the scrap yard or seeing if anyone on here is breaking one?

Sorry but another vRS front ARB bush question?
Nickbes replied to Nickbes's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
so is it just 2 of each of these I need? this is listed as 19mm Bar (0AR) (17mm hole) http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=259 and http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=263 are those the correct part numbers? -
I would try a scrap yard first and see if you can get a headlining from a car that already has a dark one fitted? You might at least be able to find the plastic bits and just paint the roof to match them?

Sorry but another vRS front ARB bush question?
Nickbes replied to Nickbes's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Thanks for your help people, when the car was up on a ramp for the MOT last week I did have a look under the car at the bushes/ARB but I could not tell if it had a plastic sleeve on or not and I could not see any sign of it cracking but I didn’t think to measure the thickness at the time. Some people say the later ones don’t have the plastic sleeve but im unsure on mine as its an 2003 and smack bang in the middle of the production run lol If it does have the plastic sleeve on is it hard just to remove it anyway? -
I have done a few searches on here as I know this comes up a lot but I cant find the answer to my question. I know I need to replace my front ARB bushes and from what I have read I think the bar is 19mm but lots of people say they replace them with 17mm bushes if the plastic sleeve is broken. I have also read that Skoda did get rid of the bars with the plastic sleeve on the later models? My question is how can you tell if you have an ARB with or without the plastic sleeve and can you tell the sleeve is broken before you remove the old bushes as I don’t want to order the wrong ones.
