  1. I think mine worked the other way around. Having decided to change the car for the Subaru XV, due soon, I got a scratch on the front bumper that needed to be sorted, a second windscreen cracked and then the service required came up. So it's cost me time and money, fingers crossed that's the end of it?

It's illegal to use any active 'phone signal' signal booster in the UK unless under specific licence arrangements. You can buy them but not use them, one of the quirks of UK law.
  3. Sadly I guess not as none have been interested in mine and it’s not yet 2 years old. Diesel is the issue for many but not everyone as the second hand market seems to be shifting quite a few. I’ve got about a month to wait for my new car but I’ll be sad to see the Yeti go.
  4. I’ve always had people ask me about the Yeti, but in the last week I’ve had three people ask about the car and all a aged that the car is no longer manufactured. One couple with a large BMW were impressed with the fittings and driving position as they said that they were looking to down size the car.

As has been noted a few times before one of the issues must surely be that the same engine is being used by multiple VW, Seat, Skoda etc., brands. The capacity issue then become even more difficult to predict and then match capacity to prediction/orders. This is not just engines but many of the key chassis/transmission elements. All this is of course orchestrated to the music of “diesel gate” and the various government reactions to particle emissions.
  6. I bought my kit of bits from a couple of really helpful guys in Derby, ShopnShine, who took time to understand what I wanted to do and advised against buying product that I’d not need. They have a deatailing studio next door and whilst I’d never want to expend that kind of effort it does show what can be achieved. Sounds like your going to get a great job that will set the car up for the rest of its life if you take time to maintain it.
  7. Nit quite sure I fully understand that but it maybe suggests that they are going to use remaining product rather than a full kit? Others migh5 well want to comment on that. If it’s done right then it should be OK and even if it’s quoted as “free” it’s part of your deal so you would be in your rights to look the car over and challenge the finish before you accept the car. Maybe, if possible, look at the car before and after. if your not going to get it done elsewhere I guess any body protection would be worth having. Whatever you decide I hope it works out well for you, whatever, don’t let it rob you of the joy of the new car.
  8. If you go ahead with the Autoglym there is a guarantee and usually a maintenance kit. The last time I had it done I made sure they were aware that I’d be really checking that it had been applied and it’s reasonably easy to see where it’s been applied and missed. Ask to retain any unused product from the kit. One trick the in-house team pulls is to be very sparse with the application and then sell off the rest via eBay. Look inside the doors, boot, around the engune cover to see that is been applied to all the surfaces. Always negotiate the price it is negotiable, tell them you’d probably like to have it done but not at that price.
  9. I’ve had it done a few times over the years and as has already been said it really does depend on who applies the products. Sometimes really good and other times I’ve been back a couple of times as it became obvious that whole sections of the body work had been hardly treated at all. For the less money I’ve bought a detailing kit including a DAS 6 Pro dual action, pads and chemicals and intend to the do the job myself when the car paint has had time to really harden off. The kit will be good for many cars and for maintenance. I recognise that some owners may not want or be able to do this for themselves but as an alternative I’d check local detailers, I’m sure would get a better result and at a lower cost.

On my 2014 Yeti I had to have the drivers leather seat replaced, just sagged and partially collapsed. No issue or discussion just changed th defective part.
  11. I had the reversing camera fitted as a option when I ordered the car. The camera, fitted in a modified boot release, is wired as part of the loom. I can not say if the “wires to connect the camera” are there in all looms or if this is a special. Works well as long as you make sure that rain etc. Is cleared from the lens after overnight parking.

@OldKoroq, no problem, it’s one of the joys of the Briskoda forums, I’ve learnt so much. I’ve joined, for obvious reasons, a Subaru forum whilst I wait for my delivery of the XV 2018, but it is nothing like the Yeti/Karoq ones.

@OldKaroq, well if truth be be told I’m 70+, but I’m also quite happy with tech stuff. the Skoda update portal, http://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/ is where in theory you can update maps etc., and the Places of interest (POI’s) destinations, speed cameras, NationalTrust etc., can be converted from various formats, co-ordinates into a format that can be loaded into the Sat Nav, http://mydestination.skoda-auto.com/?appVIN=&appLanguage=en-GB Pocket GPS world is a site that can provide speed camera data and various other POI’s, petrol stations, gyms, English Heritage sites etc. https://www.pocketgpsworld.com/ The VW legacy site is there for non current, legacy, Sat Navs etc. Waze is an app for use on your phone, Apple, Android that is maintained by the users to provide maps, traffic, etc., a good application. hope that helps. With the Yeti Sat Nav there was a Skoda Portal that you’d have to convert you POI’s (speed cameras) into a format that was compatible. Unfortunately I have never been able to get this to work satisfactorily and use a legacy VW site (German) to make the conversion. It’s a pain in the B*M. waze is a good alternative, if you get you speed cameras from PocketGPSworld, you can use the camera app and it will give a “ping” whatever Android Auto app is being used, this is what I tend to do and use Google maps. Not helping you much I’m afraid.
  15. This was in the Car Magazine, for what it’s worth, my dealer suggested MY20/21: Bernhard Maier, Chairman of the Board for Skoda Auto confirmed at the Geneva motor show that it’ll be available in production form as soon as 2019 in Europe. Expect it to be available in the UK shortly after.
  16. @graham47, my reference to VW cloned was perhaps badly worded, I meant it to mean that the cars in the VW stable, VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat, agreed that Seat have maintained some of there features but for me essentially the ride and feel of the cars is all very much the same. I suppose it’s this that made me look outside the group and to eventually the Subaru XV 2018 I’ve ordered the ride and feel are to my mind so much better, the new chassis making a major contribution I think.
  17. I think a couple of factors come into play with external car design. The market leader in the mid size SUV market is the Qashquai so the trend is to copy a winner. Secondly they all seem to use the same aero dynamics software packages so most of the lumps and bumps look all too familiar. With the VW cloned cars they all use the same chassis and mechanics so there’s probably not much chance of making radical changes. R.I.P. our lovely YETI.

Sounds like they put them into the compound the early ones first then added the later ones after that. So last in first out?
  19. @Panther_uk, I’ve not tried a 4G version but had a couple of 3G versions in the past and frankly did not find them as good as the phone for sensitivity. i negotiated an O2 deal a couple of years ago for unlimited calls, texts and 20Gb of data for £20 and use this as a hotspot for a number of situations when we connect to 4G and link a TV and a couple of iPads and this works quite well.

I think that the “inspection” will be Customs etc., logging the VIN into the UK database?
  21. This was an after thought so had to be fitted into the existing body.
  22. As a matter on interest did you have to sign a waiver when you picked up the car with regard to the systems employed on the car? I'm buying a Subaru XV 2018 with the Eyesight system, optical rather than radar, I’ve been advised that when I collect the car I will be required to sign a waiver that states that I understand that the system is an aid and not to assume that it will be 100% ‘safe’ without my intervention if required. EyeSight*1, Subaru’s advanced driver assist technology, offers XV drivers a second pair of eyes. A high-resolution two camera system detects and interprets the environment, accurately tracking things like vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. EyeSight comprises six safety systems that, where necessary, provide warnings and collision avoidance assistance as events unfold.
  23. It’s the usual Subaru Permanent Symetrical AWD system 60:40 with active torque control coupled with the standard boxer engine but sitting on the new Global Chassis, stiffer etc. https://www.subaru.co.uk/xv-features
  24. I’ve also seen that: XL - This stands for Extra Load and is commonly found on cars and MPV's where the need to carry extra weight is present, even only occasionally. 4x4's also often use these tyres because of the extra pressure through four-wheel drive and cornering. so maybe this is why these tyres are available more than they used to be? Some sites suggest using a higher tyre pressure but I still use the recommended Yeti pressure on the CrossClimate XL tyres I have fitted and really did not notice any change in road noise etc., when I made the change.
  25. Very happy to post some pics, I still intend to follow the Yeti/Karoq forums. I’m on a Subaru XV forum and will post a full review there.
