  1. Does seem ridiculous and frankly for a car thats been in production so long it takes some believing. I`ve told them that if it does turn up later in August I wont accept registration before 1st September anyway. We shall see, although if I had only had to secure it with say £100 I think I might have kicked it into touch and looked at something else, but we are where we are. Anyways hows yours running so far, well I trust..
  2. Just had the good news from the dealer..Now been given build week 32 (5th August) with 6 week delivery after that ....more popular than many people realise...but one helluva wait for me
  3. Just thinking ahead to delivery of new Roomster and was wondering if anyone had had mud flaps fitted. If so, were they an advantage/waste of money or anything in between..I have seen opinions on other Skodas but not the Roomster, so looking for any advice and opinions..Thanks
  4. Probably comes with the 1.2 69bhp 3 potter thingy  Looks a bit like a `pimp my ride` though.I suppose I could eventually learn to live with the wheels, although its high time the Roomster had a Limited Edition
  5. Thanks for the info, I`ve just ordered heated seats for my new Roomster, but as it will be under warranty for 3 years, very unadvisable to `tinker` within that time I think...have used Ford S max in the past with the adjustable heat settings and they are very good, but at £70 a seat on this offer(vat free), you get what you pay for...Thanks anyway
  6. The test car was red - that confirmed my view that red is NOT a good Roomster colour. Looks too muck like a Post Office van! Sorry if you have oerered Red!! Thats just what we said..I wanted Cappuchino but the Chancellor of our Exchequer said it was Silver or nothing ...We had a shorter test drive but certainly long enough to confirm it was a good drive with `chuckability` and lots of space and light. Totally unlike the Rapid SE I went out in first. Poor quality interior with the driving dynamics of a dodgem. The steering was just too light. The Roomster was far better and the deal was too good to refuse tbh
  7. Good luck for to morrow...hope all goes well...would be interested in your first impressions
  8. Just been advised by the dealer today that delivery is approx 6 weeks from start of build week, which in my case hasnt been decided yet...Still gives me time to add some extra bits on. Interestingly I asked if they would be prepared to fit some Osram Night Breaker + bulbs in it at PDI, which they readily agreed to and as a goodwill gesture and let me source them from the cheapest place..Well pleased indeed
  9. Good news indeed Eccleshill, hope I`m as lucky with mine....interestingly I`m moving from a similar age Octy as well....we need the more versatile space for the new granddaughter and the amazing amount of odd shaped `stuff` that seems to come with her
  10. Suprisingly not...Dealer have confirmed the price will go down as a result of this and the salesman, Kevin at DM Keith wakefield, was pleased about it tbh....I bought it at one of the so called VIP Events, which SUK put a lot of money into..as a result got a good trade in price, they beat Drivethedeal by £25 and guaranteed my trade in price regardless of how long delivery takes...Guess the salesman gets a good deal from these do`s as well
  11. Dealer confirmed the above yesterday....Apparantly some other bits and bats being changed as well on all Roomsters built from the 27th May...They are trying to find out for me..
  12. Thanks for the replies very interesting..will certainly be getting onto the dealer, first. to see whats what...will keep you posted
  13. Just put in an order today for a 1.2Tsi 86 SE, with esp and cruise plus various bits and bobs added which obviously makes it a factory build. I`ve been given a sort of vague 12ish weeks for delivery. It does seem a bit of a long time tbh but has anyone got any practical experience of present delivery times...thanks....certainly looking forward to getting it
  14. Read what I said, it wasnt the plastics that put me off, its the `go kart` standard steering and poor suspension..doesnt take more than 5 minutes to sus those things out......
  15. Went to a local dealer event this afternoon, a VIP Event, whatever that means, anyway I really went to try out the Rapid. I think its a great looking design, and still do. Anyway all was fine until I got in, oh dear...Think Korean about 7 years ago ..very low rent, dull and dark plastics, and just unappealing but hey ho, I`d gone with the intention of really liking this car and thought ok I can live with it. So off we went on the test drive... Now that was a revelation..very uncomfortable seating and not something I`d want to be in for a long time but the worst part was the steering. It just didnt feel like it was properly connected. So light that any quick movement meant you oversteered. Certainly would not want to be in this thing on the motorway in adverse conditions. I gave it a good test, all the time trying to find a reason to live with it. The suspension was poor and went over some rough road(not hard to find) only to find it jiggled about. Brought it back and went out straight away in a Roomster..What a difference, everything was just as you would expect from a modern Skoda, properly weighted steering and comfortable seats etc.. Talking to sales staff it appears the vast majority of `test drivers` have come to the same conclusion and they just arnt selling..in fact the dealer didnt even have any on display in the showroom at a busy event....sadly very little interest apparantly.. The big question is how could Skoda have got this so badly wrong. It feels as if it was build for an emerging market and foised on the UK as an afterthought. Frankly I`m gutted that it didnt come anywhere near my expectations.......I just wish it had....I could forgive a lot of things to get my hands on the design but in the end it was no......Bought the Roomster instead... Still I would expect some major changes soon as the dealers are piling the pressure on SUK.....Test car was a 1.2Tsi 105 SE
  16. Going to a local `VIP Event` this afternoon to have a play with a new Rapid :sun: promises of large discounts etc..but going armed with a screenshot of the Drivethedeal price in case required!!
  17. Had it on by Fabia and miss it on the Octy..we have a few roads where I live where there are more speed cameras than lampposts in a 30 limit, which are busy roads, loads of parked cars etc...with the Fabia just set it to 30 and was able to concentrate on driving safely..same applies in roadworks etc..I know there is a case for and against but on balance I think it aids safety and I sure do miss it
  18. Many thanks for that..appreciated and of great help
  19. Also looking at a Roomster due to a change in circumstances but my question is have they improved the headlights??. I had a 2010 Fabia where they were simply way below acceptable and avoided driving at night, where I could, they were so bad..If no improvement then I`ll cross it off the list..Thanks
  20. Told today that the Rapid`s are taking about 6 weeks from order to delivery.....
  21. Mike Member `Ben Red ` is the link for DMK on here if you want to PM him, although he works at Wakefield Branch now, but helpful guy
  22. Just had my Octavia serviced at Leeds and although there was a slight parts issue to start with, as I described on another thread, quickly resolved by the Service Manager, the car was picked up from home, serviced and brought back by them. Telephoned first to say when it was done and car enroute back. Fully valeted and no in between calls trying to chisel extra work out of you, which is reassuring and normally how I find Leeds. Many Thanks
  23. Shell fuelsave or Tesco 99 momentum in my 1.2 Octavia, whoever is the cheapest and most convenient. Car runs well on either
  24. Thanks guys....Have been making enquiries this morning. Appears there has been supply problems for which SUK has issued a service bulletin to all dealers, although not all dealers have been affected. Appears DMK dont swap parts between branches either which adds to the problem. Interestingly SUK have offered the dealers an alternative part to use which leak when fitted (E-Bay????)...To be fair since I spoke to the Service Manager first thing this morning they have bent over backwards to sort it out and are servicing it today as planned. The reply from SUK is less impressive, they denied all knowledge of this situation (despite a service bulletin they issued) promised to make further enquiries and ring me back........guess what?? Once again thanks for your help
