  1. Had occasion to put the Roomster to the test again yesterday. We bought some new sun loungers (always the optimist me )yesterday from our local B & Q ...The beds were longer than I thought 75inches (I only work in old money) hmm...bit touch and go even for the Roomster. The chap from the store who helped me was amazed at not only how you can take the seats out, but how much space there was. He was seriously impressed by what this car could do.The sunbeds went in with ease and even a tad to spare  :sun: Just love it Can`t help but wonder what would have happened if Skoda had really advertised the potential of this car :peek:
  2. It will be, dont worry and happy motoring with the Roomster :sun:
  3. We had an unusual measuring session last week with my Roomster...One of the very younger Mrs P`s in the family, is about to give birth to twin boys next month, as an addition to the 2 year old they already have. So we assembled, what seemed like, a multitude of car seats and very odd shaped buggies. It was reminiscent of the `Von Trapp Family on Tour` ..so me and number 2 son set too fitting all these seats in the car, with Mrs P, the Senior, sat in the middle of the back seat surrounded by the detritus of an expanding family....So after much swearing and carrying on, the Roomster did us proud :sun: ...eldest in the front seat, with the airbag turned off and the rest including granny well sorted in the back, with ample room in what was left of the boot space for the buggies..and of course the massive headroom makes it safe to put all the little ones in without banging of heads, especially mine!!.. What annoys me really is Skoda regarded this car as an ugly duckling for far too long, didnt do much publicity for it, and seemed to be happy for it to wither and die. Probably one of the cheapest and most versatile runabouts on the road today. What a waste ..........still its loved by the discerning few who appreciate quality
  4. When people ask why do you drive a Roomster....I tell them I start trends but seldom follow them :sun:
  5. Glad your liking the Roomster...I`ve got one in Silver and I know what you mean..it is bland.Mrs P`s choice and she wouldnt budge so we are stuck with it, but otherwise a great little bus
  6. I`m with Eccleshill on this one...As I am long past esoteric motoring needs, or bird pulling in the venacular...the Roomster ticks all the boxes. One granddaughter and twin Grandsons on the way in July  I need something with practical load lugging ability at a reasonable price.Thats what this car does with ease. I am on occasions, dont ask, required to drive a Peugeot RCZ (TT lookalike)..now that is one pug ugly horrible thing I wouldnt have on my drive, never mind getting into and out of it...so as always cars are horses for courses...love the Roomy
  7. Just had a long run and it was showing around 46mpg..mix of long and some town so not bad at all
  8. Thanks everyone..We dont use Isofix..We presently have a seat that the seatbelt fits through and clicks into its holder then a clamp is applied to the belt itself and holds in position perfectly. (bought from Mamas and Papas)...so having had a look again, I think we can just get three into the back seat using all the rear seat belts :sun: ...Told you these cars are versatile..Thanks again
  9. Hi Dinas and welcome to the forum..I have a 1.2 Roomster with the 86bhp engine and its a great car. Very verstaile and reasonable to run.The Tsi engine is excellent and should be more than satisfactory for the hilly area you have to live with..As always fuel economy is relative to the weight of the `right foot` and again the hills you encounter but its a versatile engine, good range of power and round town, up and down, in the 30`s mpg should be achievable. Certainly miles better than your previous car.. The small turbo kicks the power in as you need it, just drive to the prevailing conditions and the engine will deliver the power as you need it on the hills and bends. Tyre wise cant think they will be any worse than other small fwd drive cars, whilst servicing will be ok with your local regular garage, as long as they know to fill it only with the VAG recommended oil and not just usual 20w/50 stuff..Otherwise happy motoring
  10. Good to hear another success story..Why Skoda never pushed this `best kept secret` is beyond me ..all the best
  11. Many thanks...think its going to be the eldest in the front seat (glad I had gadget that switches off the passenger airbag fitted).. the twins in the two back seats and granny(who doesnt drive) squeezed in between them
  12. The actual base rate is really not relevant, to the rate offered to savers..That linkage was all but destroyed when base rates were on their way down. What will affect it is when the artificial and dangerous `Funding for Lending` on mortgages runs out in the near future. Banks and Building Societies will then have to raise funds from, among others, savers. Those savers will then drive a very hard bargain and sit tight whilst an `auction` takes place for their funds, only investing when they deem the savings rates to be high enough. Then watch mortgages rocket with very little Government can do on a day to day basis. Without FFL the market changes would have been more gentle and manageble over a longer period of time...but the posh boys wanted a boost in the popularity stakes..Long term in any Government is roughly 2 weeks
  13. Quick one folks....we have a Grand Daughter aged 20 months, with her baby seat in the back of our Roomster. Our Daughter in law has just found out she is expecting twins  aaarrgh..does anyone know if you can fit three baby seats in the back???..I know its versatile but this is ridiculous Hopefully someone may have been there in the past ...thanks
  14. Yep..all Aussie cars are in KMS..The big Fords I use are Aussie and although the speedo is MPH all the rest is in metric, so dont think the Aussie VCDS change will be what the OP was wanting
  15. Glad to see so many like the `all doors unlock` on one button press....why it isnt standard is beyond me ..I have a Roomster so same set up as the Fabia, can it be altered on the maxi dot or is it a vcds job..thanks
  16. Just done over 2000 miles in mine and I concur with everyone else..Just returned from a long trip during the New Year, mixed running and did nearly 500 miles on a full tank ..so far no squeaks or rattles etc..just feels solid and well put together. No complaints and the load space is outstanding and have put it to good use since I got it. Must love it because this one gets washed and cleaned as soon as it gets dirty.....in the past that has rarely been the case
  17. Well done Dan, you stuck at it and won. Also a lesson for those who have trees near a road methinks
  18. Hello Eccleshill, wonder where you`d been...enjoying the Roomster of course ..Mine has just a few thousand on the clock now, but is turning out the same as yours. A comfortable dream to drive, you should have got the heated seats..grand on days like these :sun: ..done one long run and going down south for New year for another. Fuel consumption has dropped as the engine has got run in. V acceptable..As you say, no squeaks or rattles and holds the road very well. The road lights are excellent, once I found someone who knew how to set them The finish is excellent and for what I paid its a bargain. My Granddaughter loves the large windows to see out off (nosy poppet) and with the high roof getting her in and out of her seat is easy and safe.. Had a few silly remarks (should have got it in black then you could use it as a hearse...from a Fabia owner of all people..jealous I reckon) but I get to drive a car that suits me down to the ground...do they??...Long may the Roomster reign :sun:
  19. Well done Manni, welcome to the forum..You will love it and looking forward to the pictures..thanks
  20. All of which makes the Tsi petrol engines, with their excellent economy, a serious option for the future.....
  21. I`ll just echo all that`s been said above.Great little underrated car that Skoda almost seem embarrassed by. I got the heated front seats on mine and certainly glad I did at this time of the year. Oh yes and the ticket holder is another very useful idea
  22. A good choice MJ8 and welcome to the forum...I`ve got the silver metallic as well...doesnt show the muck ..great little car and at a very good price. You`ve got a new car with 3 years warranty and servicing for the same price as a second hand Ford.No Brainer is the term indeed..
  23. Well done Result :sun: The 105 is fast..I had this engine on a Fabia Estate and it was well fast, just watch when you set off from a standing start, you can get the wheels to spin easily. Ihave gone down to the 86 and to be fair is fine for what i want. I take it you have got the SE?....all in all lovely little bus and hope you can get us some piccies :sun: Either way keep in touch and let us know whay you think of it
  24. Welcome to the forum and I can appreciate exactly how you feel ..My advice is get back onto the dealer and make a nuisance of yourself. Its quite reasonable to think that they have lost track of it in Emden..Also ring Skoda UK, but my experience hasnt been very positive with them. You might have better luck. Certainly when it gets to the Tyne the dealer can get the transport company to expedite delivery (that is well within their remit), so ring ring ring the dealer and keep pestering.. I can tell you that its worth waiting for..a little cracker of a car..quirky looks yes but many underestimate it :sun: ..happy motoring and keep us posted
