  1. .....but you'll have to collect. 2 x 165/70/R13's on steelies. Loads of tread left (see pics). Came off my Fun Truck a couple of years ago, so will fit Felicias without problems. (May fit others too). Collection from Hayes (Bromley) during the week or Rainham (Kent). Getting rid as they don't fit the BMW (oddly )
  2. Trying to score points, before the fire has been put out, is a pretty poor show though. Tomorrow would be a different matter, but today thoughts should be with the survivors, their families, and the families of the dead/unaccounted for. Political agendas can wait a day or two.
  3. A tragedy indeed. Let's hope that the toll remains as low as possible. Sprinkers: such a good idea in a council tower block? Can they be made tamper-proof? London Fire Service also signed the completed works off as posing no more risk than "normal". Still, there's an investigation to be done, before fingers get pointed.
  4. Given how long kit lasts in the real world, I'd just stick the £7 a month in a jar, then when the TV packs up in 10 years time, you'll have enough for a new, bigger, better one, and still have money left over.
  5. MKII's will be on the road for a few years to come, I suspect, and given that 20teen's Corsa bois will be having kids, a move to MKII vRS would makes sense *and* you can gt bling like this too. (given that FL's have projectors, an HID upgrade won't be as blindingly noticeable, innit )
  6. Not entirely sure it's a VCDS setting. I know on the Stream MP3 it was in the volumes menu.
  7. Well, there's got to be the usual whinge about BT in there somewhere. I think it's an addiction of sorts: if there's no mention of BT, then Nick goes in to withdrawl.
  8. (As mentioned the list time this came up......) The Outlook connector is still available from Microsoft, works a treat, has done for years. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=24677
  9. Having spent an hour resolving some vandalism issues, it occured to me....... Why is it that you have such a hard time with the battery, and thus thinking that the battery has an issue straight out of the packet, but you believe that the "less than a year old" £140 Fluke is completely infallable?
  10. By, now, in your advancing years, I would have thought you should have realised that, in consumer electronics, as with many other things, you get what you pay for. You paid ASUS money, and got an ASUS product........not sure why you have a problem with that really. You'll find that may of those people that "have an issue" have tried to "adjust" or "upgrade" their kit on their own. So many people think they know better than a manufacturer, whether it's Skoda, Microsoft, ASUS, VW etc. For cars this has resulted in people thinking a £100 spoiler from Halfords will make their 1.0 Corsa stick to the road better. For computers there's a whole raft of people who think we still live in the '70s and that computers are for hobbyists and that, armed with no more than a soldering iron and a couple of uncalibrated meters, they'll be able to diagnose and fix anything, along with all those people who believe that there is a piece of software that will make Windows go faster, or that there's a Nigerian prince wanting to give them millions of dollars. Sadly, all of these people will never admit their failings, or what they did to break the item in the first place, and will never report back when what they broke has been fixed. There are pages and pages of tech reports on the internet on people "thinking they knew best" and ended up paying a tech to fix. All tech support people have stories about what users did to stuff up their own kit. "Is it possible, that white male middle class professionals aren't the oracles they make out ?" given that, time and time again, you ignore advice that's given to you by several people on here, that's something that you'll never find out, isn't it.
  11. By now you must have realised that Mr Roberts has far too much time, an amateur hobbyist knowledge, too much money (despite whinges to the contrary) too many old, broken and inept toys, coupled with the *need* to prove everyone else is wrong, and do go to great lengths to not do what people have been suggesting, all the time, every time. The fact that 3, uncalibrated, meters don't agree therefore means it *must* be the battery, surely gives you a clue as to how much of a wind up this realy is. However, I am genuinely surprised that there's been no conspiracy theory as to it's all down to Microsoft or ASUS to force our poor, bewildered, Nick into having to buy the latest piece of kit from some faceless corporation. I've got some popcorn, and donuts, here is you want some, it's been quite entertaining so far..........
  12. No worries John. Good to see you back in a Fun! Oddly. I still have that pot of yellow paint from 5 or so years ago............
  13. From what I recall, the ones from the Fun Club has edge pieces that slide into a C channel just under the "hockey sticks" in the loadspace. I think they were accessed by opening the tailgate and sliding in through there. Once in place, there was a zip either side. Not particularly secure though. Clips were similar to what you'd use to hold a shower curtain to the shower rail. The covers from a normal pickup fit too, but the rear seats can make things awkward if you have them out. If you've managed to get a Fun Club one, then you've done well........they're like hens teeth!
  14. You can't buy them any more. Skoda don't do them, and Truckman (that made the tops) went bankrupt a few years ago. The current Truckman company don't have anything to do with the old Truckman company......plus their last Skoda Truckman part was sold a few years ago (it was a locking mechanism, quite literally found in the back of a cupboard!) Best suggestion would be to find a good glazing company that would make one for you. The rear glass usually gets smashed because it sits lower than the rest of the top and so tends to get smacked on the ground. There should be a piece of yellow plastic that runs across the bottom inch as well, as some sort "protection" (useless). I've seen perspex and wood used too, but one looks awful and the other looks worse. You could be on a hiding for nothing on this one I'm afraid, but check with a glazing company first. Sorry that it's not good news.
  15. Oh, here we go again............again. "Nurse! Nurse! The old boy in room 7 hasn't taken his meds again!" It's all been explained before, by several people, Nick, and not just me. If it's not how you want to the world to run, ditch all the windows kit (really 4 for just one person? And you say pensioners have no money.) and move over to Macs. You won't be able to screw around with them like you keep doing with Windows (the above post does somewhat blows your claim of being an "ordinary user" out of the water, {screwing around, removing bits of an operating system with PowerShell, from an article your read on the internet} as does you having "show all hidden files, including system ones" ticked on your desktop settings. Stuff is kept hidden from people like you to stop you from screwing around, breaking it, and then blaming everyone else for it going wrong.) Yeah, the 2000 character limit is imposed so that you have to stick to the facts, instead of the other stuff you'd like dribble on about. It keeps the complaint concise and relevant. Would be interesting to see what's on the cutting room floor. Just out of interest, and feel free to go off on one of your random tangents: when was the last time you made a car-related post on Briskoda? (And I'm not thinking about the VW "camper van" one, as that's not a real car.)
  16. If it's just for streaming movies etc, why not look at a Raspberry Pi?
  17. Lol, I have to admit I wasn't aware the Briskoda was a business. I was under the illusion that it's a loose collection of people who own, or have a love in general for, Skodas.......a club or "community" if you will. The stickers (and other merchandise) don't advertise a product pre se, but give a "sign-post" to those others who own, or have a love in general for, Skodas, who might well want to be a part of that club/community. No worse than caravanning club stickers, or "I love Scotland" (other countries are available) stickers. These things spread the Briskoda love, and as I such, I'd be more than happy to pay Colin the postage of shipping some out to the Dominican Republic, as it seems to be a place that could do with some Briskoda love. I suspect that the costs in running Briskoda, are more than any revenue generated by the merchandise and Freedom membership. I feel that Briskoda is a sufficiently worthy cause that this is my 2nd round of 2-year Freedom membership support, with a third on the horizon. And I wholly respect those who feel that their mere presence on Briskoda is enough to bring to the party. Personally, but in the spirit of a "right to an opinion" and "freedom of speech", I think those who disagree with the way Briskoda is run/managed/funded are more than welcome (and maybe even encouraged) to **** off and start a forum of their own where they can do, and charge, exactly as they please. But to return to the original topic of sticker location: In my Scout it's in the bottom right of the rear window. In my old hatch-back it's *still* in the bottom right of the rear window. (Despite the best efforts of my mate's Border Collies) On My BMW, sadly I have no rear window to put it on, and it's too big for the tax disc holder. (Might look a bit odd too, if I put it on the near by the E36 family sticker.) IMHO there is no "right/wrong" location, other than to point out to those with spoilers............the spoiler does indeed get in the way
  18. Mike, whatever she gets, make sure she understands the importance of making at least one backup of her work, preferably two, on separate devices. Watching people cry because they've "lost everthing" isn't fun. As for the laptop itseld, I'd say most things out there are going to be suitable, so I'd be looking at different things: students will sit in bed doing work, with the laptop sitting on their duvet.....this will obscure the cooling. So something with a lot of venting would be good. Heavy-duty graphics will be pretty much irrelevant if she's not a gamer. You don't need 2GB to watch Netflix. You'd also need to factor in whether or not things such as Word/Excel are required, and therefore needing to be part of the bundle. (Although if you're still in Cliffe I'm sure we could arrange something *cough* *cough*) Something fairly sturdy and a known brand, and very very much a good bag to put it in. I see far too many in Tescos bags (even from teachers!) Sods law says that the bag will break and the laptop will be unusable at a critical moment in the course (hence the backups ) An SSD helps battery life, is faster and with no moving parts, physically more robust. You pay for this though: you get less GB for your £.
  19. Glasses, Nick, seriously, eye-tests are free for you. We were talking "closed mind" not "closed shop". (Seriously? you can't tell the difference between those two words?) Strange, because people have repeatedly given you information you wanted, so "we know everything......you're not getting anything" is invalid. We don't create problems, we have to solve the ones by those who think the computer "does it all on it's own" and "it was working fine yesterday" and "you looked at it three weeks ago and it's not worked properly for the last 2 days, so it must be something you've done". It's always easier to tell the support people what's gone on instead of denying everything you've fiddled with, and we can usually fix it in 20 minutes. Lie to us, and we'll take hours at the going hourly rate. ....and I know a very nice South African too Maybe an Apple Mac would suit you better........
  20. I think, and I am completely ready to be called out on this, but the admin/moderation team have lives outside of Briskoda. I may be wrong on this, and am wholly prepared to accept that.
  21. It's like all the other qualifications in the world really.....it gets you a piece of paper. The piece of paper is worth something to the qualified and to their employer (obtaining a status that gives them free software) beyond that, it steers as far away from the real world as possible, which is of no great help when you need to resolve certain issues. Customers don't care about the "why it happened", they care about "how quick can I have it working again".
  22. Nick, old boy, seriously, the glasses, get them sorted, quickly. "Customer" doesn't start with an "O", well not in the english language anyway. "Grooming central"? I really really would get those meds looked at if I were you, or you have just demonstrated a complete lack of understanding about the world in general, and what "grooming" means in this day and age. After levelling the "grooming central" accusation at the forum, I would hope that's not the only thing that stops.
  23. Und zo....... I've gone almost filament free on the BMW (LED rear clusters, repeaters, sidelights and dipped beam - oh, HID is so last century now ) I've also done the front indicators, but ended up (for quickness) with some cheapo ones. What I'm after now is a pair of P21's that are a good, deep, amber, instead of a washed-out ones. Any suggestions?
  24. (Sorry I didn't reply yesterday..........it was such a lovely day, I spent it outside in the sun and fresh air.) Nick, old boy, you are far from the forum "office boy", so don't try and play the old soldier card, it was never in your hand to start with. I'm not taking any frustrations out on anyone, unlike you, I go outside, enjoy the fresh air and meet flesh and blood people. The respect you think I crave is probably more a reflection of the attention you crave so dearly when coming out with the latest BT/Microsoft/MH370 drivvel. (I think you should see about getting your medication checked in all honesty.) My job satisfaction is clearly derived in a different way to yours, and in all probability, is beyond your comprehension. Whilst thinking of getting things checked: your glasses. I'd go and ensure they are the right pre-scription, as you seem incapable of reading, in it's entirety, what other people have written, but then if you did read and understand, you probably wouldn't be able to have so much "outrage" at what's been written. Not sure about the MS Certification comment there though. Previously you wanted comments from MS Certified people. Having clarified that for you (and the length of experience win dealing with people like you), you now want to attack the certification system and what it means. Proof, and in very short order too, that whatever answer you're given, and not just by myself, that you're never going to be satisfied with answers you're given. No, unlike yourself, I don't have a closed or narrow mind to things, either inside nor outside work. I suspect, given the wallled/barred nature of your existance, that your addled little mind is far smaller. narrower and closed that just about anyone else I can think of. Who else would continue with a company that they are constantly complaining about? Not only do you continue to buy their services, but their equipment too (I seem to recall recentish photos of a BT Decor (?) phone in your dwelling.) If that's not the thinking of a closed mind, I invite you to demonstrate better. (If you knew *anything* about the MS certifications you would already know that: there's the Microsoft way and the right way of doing things, and that being MS certified is more around financial benefits than day to day operational advantages. But, then you don't know anything about the MS certifications, as you've demonstrated.....again. You are a source of fun and amusement Nick. Unlike at your end, there's no frustration, aggression or any other negative feelings going on. It's a good laugh to watch you bimble around trying desperately hard to not follow the (often very simple) advice that's been given to you (and again, not just by myself) over the years, and to continnue being outraged at what goes on. As far as things being a defence mechanism and such, best you leave any psychoanalysis to those who are qualified to attempt such, as you clearly aren't.
  25. Is this one ok? Blimey, that brings back a few memories. Having said that, we do have a PFY here as an assistant.......
