Haldex Pump filter blocked.
Lots about this over in the Yeti section too. We just had a Haldex service on ours at 18K and 3 years old, but as the OP suggests that was probably just an oil change. Will probably take it to an independent garage that will take the pump off and clean it next time.

New Alloy Wheels
Don't forget aftermarket wheels may not be able to use original bolts and could need spigot adaptors for the central bore. Using different bolts then might make using a standard spare wheel dodgy. For my winter wheels I've gone for used Octavia wheels which gets round these issues, They will generally also have the correct offset. Some aftermarket wheels do allow you to use the original bolts, but they seem to be the pricier ones in my experience. I'm guessing if looks are this issue you will be ditching your 16s for 17s. In these days of huge wheels I can't see how a wheel design change will ever make 16s look sexy. One last thing assuming you currently have silver alloys have you thought of getting your current wheels refurbished in a darker colour? That may do the trick for you maybe? I have Mk2 Octavia VRS 18" Zeniths on my O3 VRS for winter. They would look pants in silver on an O3 but look pretty good done in anthracite.

unfolding mirrors after turning the ignition
So we have a 2017 Yeti L&K which does exactly what the OP wants and 2017 Octavia that does it on lock/unlock. As we bought the Octavia before the Yeti and I've never owned a car with folding mirrors before having got used to how the Octy is it took me a year to realise the Yeti had folding mirrors at all! Anyway it seems the older generation O3 cars worked the Yeti way maybe? I expect that's the way the O2 worked? I have looked into making the Yeti work like the newer Octavia and apparently this is not possible, so I guess making the newer cars work the "old" way probably isn't possible either.

Replacing Yeti
Would you not have to pay the Irish taxes though? I thought buying a car in the Republic was an expensive business?

1st Oil and Filter Service after 1,000 miles?
Last four cars bought brand new and kept for 5+ years, average mileage, absolutely no engine problems with no significant "running in" or oil change before manufacturers schedule at 12 months+. Tiny risk that the car mechanic will make a mistake far outweighs any possible advantage of an early oil change for me. Also be careful if you fit anything other than an original Skoda oil filter. Could invalidate your warranty.

VRS 245 VAQ Diff Servicing
With the first 245s coming up to three years old (and the pre FL 230's past that age) have owners been getting their VAQ diffs serviced?

Rear Brake Disc Longevity
Whilst I appreciate the advice that with regular attention and use these discs can last, it's clear that the effects of corrosion are relatively bad on these. I have a 44 year old SEAT 127 that has had the same front discs for the last 10 years+ despite doing really minimal mileage, parked outside and with zero maintenance. Front discs I grant you but the contrast is stark. I think I read somewhere the OEM discs are Pagid? I'd certainly avoid those as replacements if you're doing less than average mileage and you aren't in the habit of stripping and cleaning your brakes. To be frank if I have to put the car up on axle stands and strip the brakes every year to make the brakes last six years (say) l may be as well replace the discs every three years. Hopefully however the Brembos will fare better, time will tell.

Rear Brake Disc Longevity
I obviously understand that. However my brother has an 20 year old Mercedes E class that gets used quite infrequently (less than 5K miles/year) and is parked outside year round. Very little corrosion on his rear brakes. What I was looking for was advice on brake brands to achieve similar results with the Yeti. Audi use the same dimension disc on some models do they get better quality? I have another Skoda of a similar age but higher mileage with no disc issues, but surface corrosion is very evident after a couple of days without use. Whilst our Yeti was fairly low mileage I think it's first keeper living in a Northern hilly region of England with lots of salt on the roads in winter and also probably a month or two of little use when the car was returned to Skoda for resale will have been factors. May have been kept as a winter only car too. Who knows, but very very few keepers of a new car on a two year lease will do any "extra" brake maintenance.

ASTA Tools
- ASTA Tools
Anyone had much experience with ASTA tools? I recently bought a 14mm XL ratcheting ring spanner to help with taking the caliper carrier bolts of the back of our Yeti 4x4 but didn't use it as it hadn't arrived and I found my 600mm U/J breaker bar did the job with a little care. The 12 point "socket" on the ratchet end looks like plastic to me. The published spec exceeds the 90Nm torque for the caliper carrier bolts but I'm slightly dubious? After breaking my venerable (35+ years old) Kamasa 1/2" UJ) on the same job I've bought an ASTA one. It certainly seems meaty enough but the finish is a little rough. I know this stuff is never going to be Snap-On but its not Pound Shop prices either! Any thoughts?- Mk3 Octavia Rear Brake Replacement
Some versions may need removal of the caliper carrier to allow the disc to be removed. The 272mm disc for example. On our Yeti that needed a 14mm XZN spline tool (AKA triple square)- Rear Brake Disc Longevity

Hi I just replaced the rear disks on our 2017 Yet at 18K miles as they were horribly corroded and the pads were 70% worn. I am horrified that they needed replacing on such a new low mileage car but its does seem to be a recurring issue. We got the car last year approved used and the first owner was from the Carlisle area so I'm guessing lots of salt on the roads in wintertime and low mileage probably didn't help. I put Brembo on in the hope they will last a bit longer but it got me to thinking which aftermarket brands have lasted well compared to OEM discs in other's experience?- Auto Folding Mirrors
Thanks for getting back to me, its reassuring that's its working as it should, but never occurred to me it would be different from the Octavia. I should have RTFM of course!- Auto Folding Mirrors
Apologies if this has been covered before.......We have a 2017 Yeti L&K bought last year which up until now I have assumed did not have automatically folding mirrors. In my Octavia when you lock the car the mirrors fold and when you unlock they unfold, simples. I have discovered that on the Yeti to fold the mirrors you have to press the lock button again after locking and then they only unfold again when you start the car. Is this expected behavior on the Yeti? Is it configurable, can I make the Yeti work like the Octavia? Is this a setting in VCDS perhaps? (I have tried the window reset fix suggested on another thread but it had no effect)- Changing the Bosch rear discs and pads; Yeti 4x4 from WK45/09
Did the discs yesterday. I found I could start the caliper holder bolts with a 600mm breaker bar from above with the uj at about 120Β° so the handle sticks out close to the wheel arch. Care needed to avoid the paintwork obviously. Horrified by the state of the old disks after only 18k miles. Put Brembos on hopefully will fare better.- Changing the Bosch rear discs and pads; Yeti 4x4 from WK45/09
Managed eventually. tried a gear puller to remove without damage but no dice so cut it with hacksaw until I could wind it out. I bought another as I thought it might come to this....- Changing the Bosch rear discs and pads; Yeti 4x4 from WK45/09
It looks just like that. 3lb ball pein hasn't had any effect.- Changing the Bosch rear discs and pads; Yeti 4x4 from WK45/09
@175GDY can you recall what make your 14mm XZN socket was/is? I just spent 20 mins "tapping" at a BGS socket and couldn't move the XZN bit one mm.- Changing the Bosch rear discs and pads; Yeti 4x4 from WK45/09
FT it is thenπ- Changing the Bosch rear discs and pads; Yeti 4x4 from WK45/09
Clever solution. Is it just a case of tapping the XZN bit out of the "socket"?. Also I assume you just set the torque to F.T.?- Air Con Service?
My 2017 VRS 245 has just gone in for its second variable service and I've just had the health check video by email. The only thing mentioned was that the "air con service is due" and Just wondering what an air con service entails? I certainly never had any such notice in seven years of owning my Mk2 VRS. Appreciate air con needs re-gassing and the like - but at just over two years old, really? - ASTA Tools
