  1. A quick trip to Denmark will get you out of that idea. The Beatles song "Taxman" describes Denmark very well. If rubbish could propel a car, it would be taxed, also in UK.
  2. There are two different german handbooks, but I guess you brits don't cope to well with that?
  3. Still it's a shame that the Fabia dashboard has such a cheap feel, not to mention the plastic surrounding the heater and ligth controls, which reminds me of the plastic containers they sell ready-to-eat green sallads in in the super market. I know it's dictated by VW, but it's still a shame.
  4. I didn't mean you specifically, Jon, but anyone interested in a popular description of how aircon works.
  5. No, it's from the evaporator. The condensator is hot because the refrigerant is pumped into it under high pressure (13 bar) from the compressor, and inside the condensor the refrigerant condensates while shedding its heat to the ambient, like humid in the air condensating on the cold window glass. Or like when you burn yourself terribly on the steam from a kettle. There is always a lot of energy involved in phase changing processes (boiling, condensing, curing and thawing) The evaporator is cold because the refrigerant is boiling inside it, and to get things to boil you need heat, which comes from the air on the outer surface of the evaporator, that then gets cold and sheds most of its moisture, again like on the cold window glass. This effect allows the occupants of the car cabin to cool down their bodies by sweating without getting damp. In fact this is the important effect of air conditioning. To finish the description ef the cooling cycle: on the outlet of the condenser, all the refrirant gas has turned to fluid, but is still maybe 50
  6. The undertray is great at keeping the road dirt away from the engine bay. And at keeping oil away from your driveway as the car gets old. And a real pain in the ... at oil changes.
  7. If you have the possibility to plug in a Kenlowe Hotstart 20 min prior to starting the engine, you do both yourself and the engine a lot of good. The decrease in engine noise at start is tremendeous.
  8. The only reason for Skoda not fitting this must be orders from VW to maintain a lower quality image than the other VAG cars. :thumbdwn:
  9. The Fabia bearings are of the same constructions as these: http://www.lupo3lclub.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2146&highlight= NOT for regular DIY'ers
  10. Hello from Denmark I'm currently working up an appetite for a Fabia Estate TDI, and I'm really torn between 1,4 and 1,9
