  1. Quick background history on my predicament. Since end of July, I been on the sick, due to a GP issue with my heart medication, which left me in a bad way health wise. Since then I been back and forward to cardiac nurse and consultants. I've been on statutory sick pay since then, which is now expiring. I'm due now to start back next month on a phased return to work 3 days a week. all my family and friends know my situation, regarding my sick pay etc. Mortgage is covered, so no worries there But have dipped into our savings a bit. Every year, myself and quite a few others go to the army v navy rugby at Twickenham. So I've sorted the tickets and wristbands out for our Corps end of Twickenham and I sorted the hotels out, all paid up front for a cheaper deal, as agreed with everyone. I paid for everything in November and was happy for payment after Christmas. Tickets and hotel cost is £100 Now everyone bar 2 have paid up and I posted pics of tickets and wristbands on Facebook. Also group message everyone explaining to pay up by today. These 2 people have seen it and haven't even replied to me, even though they post every little detail of their life on Facebook. So the question is, if others where in my situation, how would you tackle it. I'm considering putting another post online tagging everyone on it, rather than the 2 individuals, clearly stating if payment is not received by end of play Wednesday, then they forfeit the tickets, wristbands and hotel room. I had others approach me asking for tickets and hotels and are good for the money. Am I being unreasonable with the ultimatum, even though they know my health and work situation. Thanks for any thoughts on the matter. Just don't want to loose good friends I've known since 1989. Richard
  2. I take it your after a 140 2wd with DSG? Just been on the skoda Ireland website and there's a few diesel and gear box options not available to us in the UK. I had a Octavia vrs dsg and now got the 140 dsg yeti. Both vehicles are good in each respect, but I'm now suffering knee problems ( 25 years of being a electrician doesn't help) so I find the yeti a lot easier to get in and out of. I loved the Octavia, but it was getting a struggle to get in and out on my drive, as it's quite steep. I see in Ireland, you can get the yeti sherpa commercial. Pity can't get it here in the UK, as that would be my next works vehicle choice
  3. We currently got 3 teams with Ford rangers up in Shropshire laying about 4 Miles of HV cable underground. One is used to tow a mini excavator, the 2nd one is used to tow the cable drum trailer and on the back of the bed, is a cable spinner set up to lay an earth cable at the same time. When the excavator is being used, its trailer and its ranger is being filled with dust, so the lads, can dust the trench after the cables have been laid. The 3rd ranger is used as the run around vehicle and also used to scout the route ahead,in case they have to trim back bushes or trees to allow access to lay the cable. there is no way that we able to do the job with a van, it just be too impracticable to. As for the security side, we had more vans broken into than the rangers and that's with shielded locks fitted.
  4. Which way is the cable coming into the metal back box? Side entry or top entry? Hard to tell from your last pic. Some single metal back boxes have fixing points on both sides and top and bottom
  5. http://www.derrydaily.net/2015/01/13/motorists-delight-as-diesel-and-petrol-prices-fall-below-1/ Just seen this on my cousin timeline on Facebook
  6. What about the email confirmation of the purchase?
  7. If you look at my post again, I said How can you claim discrimination Is the same as someone being discriminated against Because of their race, Gender, sexuality, ETC I put ETC as there is so many things discrimination covers and I wasn't going to list every single one
  8. well I apologise for it getting heated between us, and I hope you are successful in having the decision over turned. I just felt by going down the discrimination route, would personally open a can of worms.
  9. Then rather go in claiming discrimination, which will get you no where, use their policy document on tattoos and state that your tattoo will be covered by a long sleeve shirt, as stated in the their policy. That way they can't use your tattoo as an excuse not to employ you
  10. Content of tattoo I find offensive will be any neo Nazi crap.
  11. Where did I say you made the wrong choice. You are applying for a job which has a tattoo policy and if they deem that your tattoo is unacceptable, then that is the result of your decision to have a tattoo
  12. I have no issue with tattoos, depending on its content. Yes it's a freedom of choice, but end of the day you have to take responsibility for your own actions. To say you being discriminated, because of your own actions, is pathetic
  13. so was you born with a tattoo? How you can claim discrimination is the same as someone who is discriminated against because of his race, gender, sexuality etc. Just remember YOU choose to have the tattoo and by doing so, you have to accept that could cause employment issues in the future. We wasn't allowed tattoos when I was in the army and if caught , you could be charged. If it became infected, then you was charged with a self inflicted wound.
  14. Even if they find him an alternative role , due to the nature of his injury, he has stated it will take 6 to 8 weeks to heal, it still is reportable as he not be returning to his normal role after 7 days.
  15. Looking at the link in my first post on the subject, it still has to be reported in either case.
  16. However as he is going to be off on the sick for over 7 days, then it is still reportable under RIDDOR
  17. I would have asked does accidental damage include using said laptop to cave an annoying and pushy sales assistant skull in? One reason why I can't be asked with places like these anymore.
  18. So using a pallet truck with a tyre on it will not be accepted method of doing the task safely. By the sound of what your saying, and what you have used in the past, I'm afraid your company is probably going to be prosecuted for the accident. What is the cost of of that engine mount lift?
  19. As moist said, make sure you log it in the company accident book. Looking at the following link, broken fingers or toes are reportable as other fractures are reportable immediately. That is how I read the link , but as you are going to be off for more than 7 days, then it is a reportable incident. Your employer should have provided a risk assessment and a method statement to every job where a risk to you, others, damage to equipment could present itself. We are a relatively small outfit, but work for several utilities companies, we have generic risk assessment, method statement etc, but if we attend site, we will have to carry out site specific assessments. http://www.hse.gov.uk/riddor/reportable-incidents.htm It can be hard going in and stating the facts, and you could be seen as a trouble maker, but your employer has a duty of care to you and other employees, regardless of size of company. End of the day, you just want to do the job safely and return to your family at the end of the day and I'm sure your manager or employer doesn't want to end up in court being prosecuted for a fatality. All the best for a speedy recovery
  20. Again do you have the spare wheel set in the yeti? I had a Octavia vrs and I ordered the spare wheel kit, which was basically a full size 16" wheel with a insert for the Jack etc. When I placed the wheel into the tyre well , it was level with the boot floor and I laid the floor liner directly over the top.Now I got the yeti, with the spare wheel set, again a full size 16" tyre , however as the tyre well is more shallow, the tyre protrudes above the tyre well, which means the boot liner rests on the tyre, and not across the boot floor, so with the spare tyre pack, you get polystyrene inserts to go around the tyre,to create a level base for the boot liner. You also will have a modified boot liner with flaps that be opened to access storage space in the polystyrene inserts. However what this means, is the boot level is raised to accommodate the tyre and inserts, and therefore the boot floor is level with the lip of the boot. This is only thing I find issue with the yeti, as I was used to the huge boot in the Octavia, but I rather have the spare wheel, than not have it. Hope this clears the issue
  21. Sorry bit confused here, still half asleep and not had my morning coffee yet. Are you referring to the boot space in the golf SV? I was responding to obadiah post regarding his query on why the yeti boot was shallow
  22. Do you have a spare tyre? If you do, it comes with a kit to raise the level of boot floor, in order to accommodate the spare tyre
  23. That's what we do on the sites. They target the dummy cameras, thinking they got the cameras and the hidden cams get them. We have placed cameras at ground level looking up as people tend to keep their heads down
