  1. Can you not just swap the original motor from the damaged door?
  2. The Vrs and elegance/comfort use different motors/modules as you’ve found out, so that’s a shame. The motors are very common for failing intermittently for a while as well. Usually if you unplug them and plug them back in that can fix them.
  3. Possibly the motor not being seated correctly or the housing inside has came away from the adjusters.
  4. If you pop the plastic trims off the back you’ll see 2 multisplines on each side and the rear part and the base comes apart separately so it’s eaisier to work on the base :p looks great anyway, good work and guide!
  5. Loads of calipers are the same, most earlier VWs with solid rear discs will probably work, Octavia, golf, ibiza etc
  6. Just double check everything. see if the piston still winds back ok, trying pumping it out and winding it back a few times. check the brake pads move on and off the disc ok and sent sticking. As you said, check the calipers guide pins are nice and free. Make sure the flexi hose and brake pipe sent damaged, if you’ve checked all of that it’s got to be a new caliper really.
  7. The handbrake light will light up and you’ll get s beep if your drive with it on for more than a few feet and over a certain speed.
  8. Still looks like it’s coming on well! Motivation is always an issue this time of year... cold, dark, cold... dull. Hopfully the thought of getting the engine back in will help push things along I’ve done the same with the oil return on the last 2 GTB builds I’ve done by the looks of it tried it on my own about 2 year ago after being disappointed with the xman kit and it’s still going strong.
  9. No chance left, right, up down, L1, L2, A, B
  10. I’ve done this to about 3 cars now. I don’t remember ever hearing a beep but they always work once it’s dark, unlock the car and they work!
  11. Thats right, the early 1.9 engine Mk2 Fabias use EDC15 plus (EDC15+) Unrelated to the OP but for search reasons the 1.6 diesels and newer Mk2 Fabias they use EDC17 and the above method doesn’t work.
  12. I removed mine, fitted the blanking plate to the turbo and put the straight pipe connector in its place. i remapped mine to get rid of the engine management light but other than that you should be fine
  13. I just replaced the shoes shoes with Bosch ones, I found the springs were a lot stronger for releasing and abit grease on the rear backing plate surface so everything is nice and free. I then ripped the full axle off and put discs and pads on the rear if i know the cars being left for more than a few days I just leave it in gear with the handbrake off and stick some bricks around if needed
  14. Hope you fitted the head gasket the right way round looking like good progress though.
  15. Sorry I never checked back much, everything is still available though, PM me if anyone needs anything.
  16. Indeed the 105/100 bhp models have a solid flywheel from the factory not a DMF, another one of the bonuses over the 130bhp models
  17. Not an immobilise issue? no faults or lights on the dash?
  18. I paid about £40 for one from a scrap yard, used tiger seal and two screws to hold it in place, you'll see when you get it there's two locating bracket things, I applied pressure to push them through and out a screw through them sideways so they'll leave work loose. Thank you, i sold it not long ago and use the Monte Carlo parked beside it as my daily but that's going soon as well to make room for a VW Caddy. i built it as a diesel Vrs really, Vrs wheels, coilovers, front bumper, rear bumper, exhaust tip, spoiler and gave it some performance to match with a Audi S3 FMIC, darkside hard pipe kit and CR177 turbo, remapped it was quicker than the Vrs anyway
  19. Few random pictures I could find, that's just a standard 1.6 diesel elegance Fabia, not a Vrs etc...
  20. Yeah I've done it, fairly easy job to be honest, everything lined up nicely including the exhaust. I just put a tip on the exhaust from eBay. It slipped straight over the standard backbox pipe and lined up really well, few hours work was about it
  21. I went with goodridge, they are in the for sale section on here now
  22. I found that with 99% of head gasket kits, they don't actually come with the head gasket, just all the other gaskets needed when changing one, crazy looking great though
