The more I've thought, I think I'll do the injectors as well, the seal kit also comes with the very top part that wears down from the rocker arms, so will remove all four injectors, clean them all up and replace the wearing parts from the top, I'll be setting up the injector lash after the new camshaft anyway so might get an extra few BHP when I'm done!

Ahh well shoot me down.
Enjoy your slow mk3

I have a mk2 with the same 1.9PD engine as the Fabia

"So you're re-using your cambelt?"
- yeah, it's about 8 month / 5,000 mile old, perfectly fine to put back on. False economy to replace it for the sake of it, will be exactly the same just with a lighter wallet.
"Also what's the rationale behind doing this? Is the head lifting?"
No reason, it's 100,000 miles old now, want to rebuild the top end before playing with hybrids etc. Camshafts and tappets are the soft spot on these engines so I'd like to upgrade them now while I can.
I'm only running low power so no headlift or issues there, but the PD150 headbolts might just help to prevent any issues in the future.

Doing my top end rebuild in the next few weeks so going to order all the bits, so far I've got...
- Genuine PD150 head bolts
- FAI steel camshaft
- INA black top uprated tappets
- Glyco bearings
- Genuine camshaft bolts
- Genuine camshaft oil seal
- Genuine rocker gasket
- Genuine EGR reducer gasket (BLT engine)
- Genuine cam pulley end bolt
- Engine assembly grease
-
I think that's everything, not sure if I should remove all four injectors, give them a clean up and replace all four seals/gaskets on them at the same time.... It's only £30 for a full set of seals but then the bolts ontop of that arnt cheap either.
While the tools are out and engine in bits I'm going to remove the EGR valve and ASV, give them all a good clean out and fit the reducer gasket to help keep it clean in the future and help with the BLT hesitation.
Timing belt is less than a year old and havnt done many miles so not replacing that.
I'll run it for a day or two then do an oil and filter change also.

Not quite sure how I missed out on these having shown an interest first. Hopefully hutchysrs50 got a good deal on them. [emoji106]

Yep that's the one, I've seen an SE go around by the Ambulance place a few times. Is that you?
Not me but I've seen it around also, a few in Newcastle it seems. I think I used to pass you about 4 times a week at the small shops at dinner time. I was always in my Fabia sport (black magic) but used to see a silver Fabia almost everyday beside the paper shop/sandwich shop/ chemist with a briskoda sticker in the window.
I'll pm you anyway.
It's just a cheeky offer.

Live in Seaton Delaval but work in Newburn if that's any help for you matw
Same estate as Andrew page or further along?
Think I've possibly passed you a couple of times.

Now now, let's not play the blame game...

What's the mileage of the vehicle?

The bulbs are easily changeable for brighter ones on the ashtray

I was gonna say, I get the pipe for about £20 each bent to the correct angles and beaded...
Go to a local exhaust place and ask for one.
-
£75 for just the actual pipe or pipe and joins / connections?

Picking up a 2008 Fabia on Monday so just wanting a little heads up what to look out for in the way of common faults or things most people have had problems with.
Its the 1.9 PD engine 105BHP so happy days with that, i know them like the back of my hand, Ive had tones of Fabias now but all Mk1, still got my 2007 Special edition, might keep it or sell if it i love the Mk2 more
Its a Fabia 3 spec if that helps, not sure what spec it commes with but digital climate control and cruise look about right from the pictures.

I cut mine down as small as i could get away with on both sides of the reducer and managed to get the very top bolt in place (the one ontop of the inlet manifold) but couldnt get the side one on. I was running a catch can also so didnt need to worry about the breather pipe.

Just searched ARL piston on google and found this link, might be handy for some of the people on here with the 2.0 builds etc...

some great pictures showing the pistons side by side, you can clearly see the deisgn is different over the models.

Thanks for your comments. The 3 piece clutch kit is £136 so not too bad. Might just get a Sachs and be done with it.
Im not sure a Sachs clutch kit will fit a LUK DMF, so will be worth checking before purchasing and doing the job

Ok for serious, the friction plate is what wears down, so if the rest is quite new then that's all that needs replacing.
However, for the cost it's always worth replacing the lot, probably be around £90 for a full clutch kit.
Flywheel will depend on age and abuse it's had, can always inspect it once the gearbox is off and clutch stripped to see how it looks.
