Dont feel bad for him, feel angry that he is selfish enough to still be driving; I seem to remember reading about another old duffer who mowed down a line of school children only last week.
I know, i know!
Its just... you want to get mad in that sort of situation, shout at the person and punch them in the throat for what they have done.
But it really wasnt about that, he was to old and frail, i was waiting for him to take ill or somthing, i could tell he was in abit of a shock maybe being caught out, he couldnt get his words out etc... so instantly reasured him it was all fine, its only a car, i just need your details and thats it...
He probably got in the car thinking "suckerrrrr!!"

Good guide Hutchy
Clear pictures too.
I needed this about six months ago
JRJG
As strange as it sounds, its like its transformed the car
Its changed my seating position, driving its alot nicer now, even more with cruise control!
its like sitting in a sofa one arm on the arm rest and other on the door, i can see how people fall asleep at the wheel!
Changing gear seems much nicer also, alot less effort
Downsides are it gets in the way of the handbrake, it doesnt stop it from working you just have to pull it differently unless you fold it up out the way before/after each journey.

Not a bad job, takes about 15 minutes per side.
So the blue tint mirror glass should look somthing like this beside the original.
The glass is easy enough to remove, just press the glass nearest the car so it folds in on one side and then pop your fingers in and gently pull as evenly as possible so the glass doesnt get damaged and it should pop off. then unclip the heating wires.
The wires for the heating elements are in a different palce for these Skoda Superb blue tint glass so the wires needed to be extended slightly.
as can be seen here, two connectors on the right and two conenctors on the left.
so extend the wires enough to go to the other side.
Then plug in and firmly push into place all around the center untill the hear the plastic clips locking into place.

downside to the cheap coolers is they don't have a separated end tank. they're one open tank, meaning the airflow can effectively bypass the core this not being effective at cooling at all. always go with decent quality kit, you get what you pay for
Of course, my THS intercooler was huge and worked wonders on a GTB'd Fabia pushing 240bhp. Im sure for stock and show a cheap one will do.

I find the blue tint really helps at night on the motorway. Reduces the glare which can affect me quite a bit.
You've got a good point with that, never thought about it!

It was originally in my car so its very special indeed!
Cant say i notice much difference but i didnt take it on track days and dont push it around corners, i drive like an old man really, just like a little bit straight line speed, 2nd and 3rd gear is about it for me
I buy things for the sake of it, front strut brace, rarb, coilovers etc and it still goes the same from A to B for me, but look pretty!

Just finished doing this upgrade, i'd say it's fairly easy overall, around 3 out of 5 difficulty.
Do this at your own risk, I take no responsibility for you damaing your own vehicle or any other faults!
This is to be used as a rough guide to show whats involved, not a step by step guide of what YOU should be doing.
What you will need.
- Mk4 golf arm rest or similar with OEM brackets
- Brackets to hold arm rest / fitting kitArm rest and brackets should look somthing like this, mines leather...
Fitting kit and other brackets will look like this...So to start off you want to remove the rear ash tray and remove the two torx screws, usually all torx 20 or 25.Then you can remove the front ash tray and remove the other 3 torx screws. Then unclip the gear selector gator and move to one side.and unclip the surround not forgetting the light. Then remove the small plastic section by the handbrake, they can be tricky but with some careful force they pop out.If you lift the rear carefully the front part should unclip from the dashboard part, you might need to pull them apart but usually get enough room to remove the full centre console. Remember to unclip the cig lighter plug also.Should be left with somthing like this...Make sure the car is left in gear and the wheels chocked before removing the two bolts as it might slacken off yoru handbrake and result in the car rolling. so remove the two 13mm nuts like thisAnd put the fitting kit in place, i fitted it as a trial but found it easier to match up the OEM bracket and fit it while it was still off the car and fit them both together. The picture below is to just show you how the brackets go.And fitted in place. Its worth leaving a few of the easy accessible bolts slack for now as you might need to move the bracket before finally tightening.I didnt have anything to cut the rear cup holder out to make room for the new brackets to ended up drilling it outand out before giving it a little clean up.and fitted back in place. This is when its worth leaving a few bolts slack, mine sat in the middle and needed to be slightly more to the left.So moved it over and gave them a tighten up through the gap with a spanner. Then fitted the arm rest in place.and folded up out the way.I also put the part of the cup holder that got cut out inside the arm rest so ive still got a decent cup holder. its just wedged in place but tested it a few times now and its been fine! So just going to clean it up, possibly wrap it? and fix it in palce perminantly.- 5

Ant - did the guy admit fault there & then, and was he civil about it?
hutchy - I hate and detest people like that, like its 'just a car attitude' how about i swing my fist into your face and say 'its just a punch'.
Close! his words were "Its only a bloody car" so not far off.
This isnt my first rodeo of someone crashing into my car and me not being at fault, expect last time i got dragged out for about 5 years and ig ave up since the insurance companies only ask "in the last 5 years" so i have no idea what actually happend.. but thats a differnt thread all together

Lucky he didnt his a pedestrian or motorcyclist then, accident waiting to happen. :(
Glad to see the car is being sorted quickly anyway.
This is the fourth time apparently in the past few month, other people that know him told me that hes pretty much hit all their cars and other random ones and drove off (after hitting his friends car!) and denying it.
I think he's been lucky to settle them all outside of the insurance untill now. He did say hes giving up driving now which im glad to hear, i know age isnt always a factor but he's in his mid 80's now and struggles to walk, clearly cant see very well, i can tell that by how he looks at everything squinting his eyes! cant hear very well (ovbiously not because he hs front parking sensors that must have just flat lined as he scrapped his way down the side of the car...)

That looks awesome. Are they easy enough to pick up parts wise? I'm assuming you've just ran the wires into terminal blocks? Dont you need to be conscious of melting the terminal block by the element? (not sure how hot it gets)
Thanks, im happy with them. Another good OEM+ part i suppose, they all add up and make a difference.
They are easy enough to get hold of yeah, Euro Car Parts sell them for around £25 per glass or ebay sell them.
Not worried about them melting at all, terminal blocks are designed to do the job im using them for, could have crimped them or solderd but room is tight basically. They dont get near hot enough to melt them either

Another small update but might help people in the future.
Had a phone call to say the cars being collected tomorrow morning, so not bad going so far, only phoned it in 45 minutes ago!
-
Phoned insurance this morning, all fine so far, waiting for a call from enterprise with a hire car. All fee's have been waverd so far since it's gone down as none fault etc so no excess to pay, just wait for them to get in touch with him and see what he says!
-
Thanks for the replies, I just HOPE! He accepts full liability and it all goes smooth.
He's accepted everything so far but it only happend at 7pm, he could change his mind when he slept on it.
At the end of the day he's crashed into a parked car so can't see how he can get out of it, but I'm sure many have tried!
Will update this as things happen.

Nice job - look good and a nice blue tinge to match the bodywork
That was my thinking!
Sadly I think it hides the blue more I'm used to looking in the mirror and seing blue so don't notice much difference. Good to have nice shiny wing mirrors anyway
-
everybody has said the same. I rang the insurance Company up this morning for it all to be sorted. I'm not ****ed off its just the inconvenience off it all.
I can relate to that since my car has just been crashed into about 2 hours ago, straight down the side, guy wasn't even botherd.

I like the colour!
great pictures mind.

So these turned up today
Some nice blue tint mirror glass from a skoda superb!
Dont worry about the smashed glass in the above picture, it was already smashed on a spare wing mirror ive got, i just had a practise removing the glass from the housing before doing my own on the car.
They come off quite easily actually.
Had to then make the wires longer for the heated glass since its on the other side.
old glass, clip on the right, new glass clips on the left.
small bit of wire later...
and clipped into place.

Im not looking to hide anything, just want to know what to tell people i suppose, i'll happily let them know while i was shopping someone els hit my car!
I have good insurance so hopfully i do, i'll be checking tomorrow.

Thanks for the replies.
Hmm, yeah im only claiming on his insurance, but will need to phone mine to tell them about it because the little old man had no idea who he is insured with. so take it i phone mine, tell them its happend and give his reg number and details and let them sort it out?
I feel little bad for him actually, he must only be about 5ft tall, seemed pretty blind, deff and couldn't walk well, but i suppose thats a different story that im not interested in.
Fix my car, give me somthing in the mean time and im happy.
To add, im also insured as an extra driver on my girlfriends policy, is it going to affect that at all?
Rusty, so when i come to renew my insurance i need to say ive got zero years NCB now?
