  1. I was always envious of SWMBO's Ford Focus which had an heated windscreen when I was driving about in my Honda Civic without one. On ordering my Yeti in 2011 it was the first thing I had on the options list. It is simply fantastic. It's not just for frost. Even an hint of the screen misting up, the press of the button clears it in an instant, there's no need to fiddle with the heater controls. I looked at an Audi Q3 as a replacement for the Yeti but on finding out you can't have a Q3 with a heated screen and the fact that the back seats don't fold flat put me off and I ordered a FL Yeti. The fact that a Q3 with the same kit as the Elegance I ordered (with lots of options) was over 7 grand more also helped! To be honest I don't really know why I even contemplated a Q3 because the Yeti has been the best car I've ever owned by far.
  2. "When alone in the car and very still (I've slept in the car recently for a few nights), there is a noise like a team of mice with boots on somewhere in the dash - maybe the radio/cd player, maybe the stepper motors in the heating/ventilation system, or even indeed mice." I can answer this one! It will only happen if you leave a CD in the Bolero. I only ever listen to MP3s on a SD card but the odd time SWMBO has left a CD in the Bolero, this noise is the result even with the engine and Bolero switched off. Why it does it is a total mystery!!?
  3. This paragraph from the review convinces me the reviewer knows nothing about the FL Yeti! The main difference between this updated Yeti and the old car is that it’s now available in rugged Outdoor trim, as tested here. This means that as well as the Yeti’s new, more traditional front end, you get underbody protection at the front and rear, plus silver door mirrors. The pre FL Yeti had 'rugged outdoor trim' as standard unless I'm mistaken!! And what's that underbody protection he's babbling about - does he mean the Rough Road Pack which is an optional extra? I stopped reading when he said the interior is bland and low-rent compared to the new Cashcow. Bland it may be to some eyes compared to the gaudy interiors of some modern cars but low-rent .......never in a million years!
  4. After emailing Skoda UK regards the Metal Grey metallic paint being on the FL configurator but not the FL brochure they got in touch with me today by phone to inform me the colour was 'no longer available'!! I pointed out that in that case it had NEVER been available because it wasn't an option with the pre FL Yeti. I also told them I'd actually ordered a Yeti in that colour but felt I was wasting my time and give it up. So, if any other poor soul gets excited about this colour on the configurator, be warned you can't have it! Wonder how long it will be before they take it off!? My current Yeti is black and I must admit it looks good and although I'm tempted with the Jungle Green I think I'll go for black again to be on the safe side. With Jungle Green being a new colour I would hate to get a phone call in three months time informing me that my chosen colour is no longer available and there will now be a further two month delay with your vehicle sir! Don't laugh, this is Skoda remember!
  5. I think I was a bit premature with this post as I have looked on the back page of the brochure in question and it states EDITION UK 11/13. Makes at least me think it's a UK brochure!?
  6. Thank you both for these quick replies. You have eased my mind but I'm still not 100% happy till I hear something official. Yes I also like the Jungle Green and it was on my short list.
  7. Ordered my FL Elegance Outdoor yesterday. Will go into spec details in my next post as the main reason for this post is this:- I configured the car on the online configurator (like you do) and specified Metal Grey metallic paint and a huge list of optional extras. Armed with a Word document of my exact specifications and prices I visited my local dealer and ordered the car. All well and good so far and I was also pleased with the deal I got including a good part exchange for my near three year old Yeti SE. Last night I was having a look at the new online brochure and was totally baffled and dismayed to discover that Metal Grey metallic paint wasn't shown as an option! As anybody else ordered this colour? I have emailed Skoda UK and await their reply. I will also phone the dealer later today. Just thought I'd post this to vent my frustration!
  8. I think the 18 inch wheels will look fantastic on your black Yeti but you obviously don't know that the majority of folk that use this forum don't like big wheels. They all prefer the tiddly 16 inch jobs! Except me!
  9. Is it me or can you really now only get the 170bhp diesel engine in the top of the range L & K model. I was thinking of moving up to the Elegance from my SE just for this engine but not prepared to shell out even more dosh for the L & K. The Audi Q3 SE is now looking a lot more appealing!
  10. What has happened to this calendar thread? Are we not having a 2013 calendar?
  11. Thanks Chris Quite simply the best snippet of information I've ever seen on this site.
  12. I found it strange that Frenchtone and Octman state that they have no problem in getting the Bolero to recognise and play more than 2000 tracks until I had given it a modicum of thought and realised that these good people are mistaken in their beliefs. What is happening here is that by playing the tracks randomly they do not realise that the Bolero is only selecting the tracks from a list of 2000 regardless of how many are on the SD card. I can understand this because 2000 tracks is an awful lot of music (as Skoda Driver quite rightly says) and you wouldn’t necessarily realise that the unit wasn’t playing certain tracks if you only set it to random play. Let’s say you have put 4000 tracks on a 32gb SD card, it is only when you actually choose what you want to play that you’d find that half the tracks don’t exist on the Bolero! To prove this theory one way or the other would it be possible for Frenchtone or Octman to do a little experiment. Shove the SD card in your computer and have a look down the list of tracks to the end and note what the last track is. (They must be in some kind of alphabetical or numeric order.) Now put the SD card in the Bolero and scroll down to the last track. I think you will find if you have more than 2000 tracks on the card it won’t be the same song at the end of the list. In answer to Skoda Driver’s comment. Of course nobody needs this amount of music for any car journey. The point is that the fantastic convenience of having ALL my music on one tiny SD card so I can choose exactly what I want to play without ever taking the card out of the slot is totally ruined by this mindless 2000 track limit!! Also finding individual tracks on the Bolero in structured folders eg artists - albums, is very, very easy!
  13. You have done nothing wrong. For reasons that baffle me, the Bolero can only 'see' a finite number of tracks regardless of size of SD card. I think the exact number is 2000 songs although I'm not certain. I bought a 32gb card when I got my Yeti and was very disappointed I could only use about 10gb of it before it stopped 'seeing' the tracks. I'd no option other than to buy another two 16gb cards for all my music even though at a pinch it would all have fit on a 32gb card. Having three cards instead of one is a bit messy! I hate Skoda for doing this!!
  14. Sorry, I missed that! Should always read the small print!
  15. Did flashman mention winter tyres? Think about the millions of alloys that stay on 99.9% of cars all year round anyway. I think the wheels are stunning, wish they came as standard!
  16. The heated windscreen is the absolute business in my (rather humble) opinion! It allows you to set off on frosty mornings and evenings that much quicker thus saving precious fuel! It is also amazing how quickly you can switch it off!! With a windscreen full of frost, at first it seems that nothings happening then one flick of the wipers and it's all gone. Worth every penny! I'm only sorry I didn't get two!!
  17. Anybody else think the SE wheels look smarter than the Elegance jobs? They look easier to clean, that's for sure!!
  18. Hi all As my new SM is now sat on the drive I thought I'd join the forum, this is my first post. Surprisingly I didn't have to wait too long for the desirable beasty either. Ordered on 02/11/10 from Claybank Motors, Manchester and received 11/02/11. What a fantastic car! To start the ball rolling can anyone tell me why the quoted kerb weights of the whole Yeti range has taken a nose dive? For instance my model (SE 2.0 TDI CR 140 4x4) is quoted as being 1,530 kg in my original brochure dated 25th May 2010 but on the latest brochure dated 4th January 2011 this is reduced to 1,455 kg! This is a substantial difference and if it's to believed by my reckoning it ups the power to weight ration from 90 to 95 brake horse power per tonne. Are the original quoted weights a mistake or the new weights a mistake? All very strange if you ask me!!
