Scout Haldex Differential Noise
Bumping this post – as keen to get some confirmation. My VIN is TMBMJ7NE9F0112414 and I've been told I need a 0BR525010Q rear diff unit. Yes? Ebay has a new one in China for about £1200, there might be (UK) 'breakers yard' units for £3-600 (but not sure of their condition) and Skoda dealer quoted me £5000 :O) As I mentioned earlier gearbox people will refurb mine for perhaps £380 (but also a three week turnaround). I was thinking of getting the new eBay one then it can be a 'simple' swap the old one for the new one (and sell the old one as spares/repairs). Anyone have experience/thoughts on this please? Thanks.

Thank you, really useful information.

Scout Haldex Differential Noise
Great – thank you. Very useful. I've been quoted about £400 to service the rear diff on my 2015 Scout (which replaces all the bearings that can be replaced). They did explain that *if* the bearing that is broken isn't replaceable then it'll £1500 (rather than £400) for a new unit (!) but reading your post I'm hoping the knackered parts are replaceable. The only extra is getting 'my' garage to do the remove/refit as the diff people are booked 'til August if I wanted/needed them to remove/refit.

Sudden loss/blip in power.
Update – still a little 'oddness' with power delivery at low rev's. I'm going to read those data reports throughly. Any other suggestions anyone? Thanks.

Sudden loss/blip in power.
Graham First up, not John please, my dead mum will be turning in her grave. Or jon come to that. It's Jonathan please, but many people call me Biff (as in Viz comic). Thanks. Sorry, pedant!. Car – it's better than it was after the Terraclean but I think it's still 'doing it' a little. I've attached the before and after VCDS reports if anyone wants to take a look. Not super studied them myself yet. I think the clean has helped but still think a sensor or the computer is struggling with dud readings and or 'not smart' processing. Not done a long journey to see if mpg has improved. I think it's driving better for the Terraclean and driven hard it's a hoot but 'urban trundling' still annoyingly niggled. Having said that didn't seem to do it much at all on a 5 mile trip this morning. Not given up on 'completely solving it' but also it's ok to drive as it is. Thanks Jonathan/Biff :O) BIFF_SKODA_SCOUT_BEFORE_LOG.txt BIFF_SKODA_SCOUT_AFTER_LOG.txt

Thanks, my issue wasn't bumps, happened on smoothest roads. And the cleaning seems to have sorted it… …but loose wires and crap battery and dodgy readings and crap sensors and f*cked ECU etc etc were all in the mix at one point :0) I'm waiting on report (and opinion) from garage but hopefully I might be getting somewhere.

Sudden loss/blip in power.
Got mine with 112k miles on it for £9,500 – spent about £600 so far on rear brake pads and discs and wheel bearings. Upgraded the in-car/audio/screen (bigger screen, CarPlay – thanks PAB567). Got some winter tyres and steel wheels. Intend to drive it 'til the government says I can't. Terraclean (etc) is all part of the process and (personally) I'll always opt for 'my car, owned and operated' over any lease (must look after it T&C's) option. And never new. Back on topic… diagnostics info on surge/slow etc when I get it. Thanks.

Sudden loss/blip in power.
:O) Well my Terraclean was a few quid more (£130) but seeing as the new fuel filter and 'pour in' my other garage did hadn't worked and this might have I'm ok. Happy for you if £4.49 gets you there. Cars eh?! :0)

Good. I was/am waiting for more info before replying but garage ran diagnostics, nothing too untoward [update here once they send me the report and their pro opinion]. They then ran their Terraclean process. It's an hour of deep cleaning – see https://www.terraclean.co.uk/ for all the info. So far I haven't really been able to recreate the surge/slow sensation at the 20/30/40mph 3rd/4th gear points it was doing it. Couple of times I was thinking there might be a hint of it but as it stands it's going well (and, bum dyno says the car's perkier overall!). So, it's only early days and, talking to garage there's a load of computer engine management, throttle response etc stuff to consider and I don't know how the physical state of the parts in the car and the computer (will continue to) interact (etc etc) but I'm so far pretty pleased with where I've got to. Not currently happy recommending Terraclean as the solution to your problem as it needs longer term evaluation and I'd like some facts/evidence to confirm the results I seem to have. It's certainly not a coincidence, something has improved :0) Garage emailing me the diagnostics report tomorrow (thursday) and hopefully their view on it (as me and a 20 page report will just lead me down a google tunnel of bewilderment).

Graham Car going in for 'diagnostics' today. I'll report back. People I'm taking it to seem to be aware… “oh, yes, VAG diesel…” was first response. It's still doing it (but driveable, done a few 600 mile round trips recently) Mostly ok but the 'slow traffic urban pootle' really aggravates. Thanks Jonathan

Oh yes, I forget. New fuel filter fitted when the 'flush' run through it last week. Feels better but the 'initial problem' is still there. I'll see about the battery. Thanks.

Yes, I'll let you know how I get on. Bought the car a few months ago with 112k on it. Wondering if the previous owner sold it (to the dealer) because of it (but there are enough conspiracy theories in the world currently, I shouldn't add to them). Not something to show up in a quick test drive. Done 3,000 miles since then. Drives ok (although was expecting better mpg on 65mph motorway cruise (control)ing really) until I'm 'trundling at 20/30/40 and it lurches/surges/drags :O/ Yes please, error codes and part #'s. Thanks. Have a good holiday :O)

Graham – love to help but I've got as far as having a 'flush' (don't know technical/product name) agent run through the fuel system to hopefully shift any built up residue that might be the issue, but I think I still have the problem. Next is either Terraclean (a more thorough clean of the fuel system - did seem to help my Panda 100HP) or something else. Yes, don't think any codes. And heavy foot and 'motorway cruising' you wouldn't know it was an issue (although I think it's reducing my mpg). Besides 'physical issue' my massively random and limited car knowledge has got me wondering if the computer controlling the fuel etc is 'out of whack'. Can I get a software update or a reboot? Anyone out there with suggestions - fire away. Me and Graham are waiting. Thanks.

J.R. …much appreciate your reply here. Although I have to say I don't think my issue is quite this. I get it every time I'm going up a slight hill, 3rd gear, 1500 revs (etc, i can induce it with other gears/revs/speed too). Not momentarily but on-going for the duration of the ascent. Not cresting a hill or an undulation. It's beyond a quirk, and seems to be getting worse. I'd film it but until Apple develop 'movement sensation' to their phones’ videoing capabilities it won't show at all :O) Makes sense that the fuel isn't getting through like it should when right foot is only asking for a little (and not noticeable at all when booting it as 'big fuel requests' won't be noticeably wrong if % of the fuel isn't getting through like it should – eg if accelerator is asking for 10ml and only 5ml is getting through it'll be felt, if it's 100ml then 5ml is neither here nor there. Yes – I am not an engineer :O) …I'll see if I can get garage man to provide the science. Thank you.

Sudden loss/blip in power.
I drove garage man about yesterday. First stop on the 'see if we can fix this' is going to be checking fuel filter and flushing 'something' through to hopefully clear the pipes (technical term). Was talk of 'live monitoring' to see what data/errors might be thrown out. Got to start somewhere. I'll report back.

Sudden loss/blip in power.
I'm replying here as I did a search and this seemed relevant. Bought a 64 plate Octavia Scout, 112k on it. Seems ok, garage have checked/sorted wheel bearings (and rear discs and pads) and fitted a non-silica expansion tank *but* I can't help thinking there's something not quite right with the car. It seems to lurch/surge (only a little) at 40mph in 4th (and other times), and sometimes feels like it's 'slowing' (like engine braking). Pretty odd. Is it just a Euro 6 diesel being odd? Different to the Euro 5 Scout I had before? Something else? Paul (Hove, very helpful) sorted me a VCDS file for my audio upgrades (and thanks Pab567) so I have a full report (but over my head). Is "5231 - Fuel Rail/System Pressure — P0087 00 [096] - Too Low and 20010 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S2 — P0136 00 [032] - Malfunction in Circuit" related? I see EGR mentioned above but don't think that is in my report. A computer or a hardware thing? Injectors? Valves/ And how can I check my DPF? I've done 2000 miles in the car since I got it. Goes ok – motorway very easy, and some 'harder driving' seems to perform ok but seems a little odd in 'gentle around town' driving, not smooth. Ever so subtle lurch, surge, slowing itself sensation :O/ …keen to have some more clues before I p*ss the garage off (and waste my money and their time) with my mad theories and google finds. I don't think I'm imaging things :O) Thanks. Picture for attention (was great in the snow we had before Christmas, thanks to James for selling me winter tyres and steel wheels)

SOLD - please delete - thanks.
PM'ed – all in the ET etc I think, tyres and wheels are as tricky as everything else car-wise :O)

Audio info – anyone close to Eastbourne got a VCDS or OBD Eleven and can help me please?
Just to say Paulski (local to me, Hove) sorted me a full VCSD data query. Top bloke – got the data I needed and many more insights (and a headsup on the coolant expansion tank thing that can be a problem). Thank you him, and this group.

Wasn't about to start a fresh post just to rant but my opinion of 'Skoda main dealers' (and the whole 'new car is everything' system) confirmed by a trip to Eastbourne Skoda. Simple request to obtain the data (via VCSD) I need for audio MIB1/2 etc switching – polite and upfront and expecting to pay for the 'workshop time' but flat refusal… “Sorry, we can't do that”. Bam! To quote Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman “Big mistake” – I shall continue to work with independent agents and actively avoid any dealings with the Showroom Stasi :O) I'm sure this has been discussed many times before. This is just cathartic ranting (I'm as much a dinosaur as they are). Tuppence spent.

I'm looking to replace the MIB1 set-up in the 2015 Scout i've bought. PAB567 can supply me with kit but is asking me for info… "you want adaptation channels map made with setting: address 5F, login 20103, adaptation, CSV file (and then 2nd run, RAW HEX)" which a VCDS can access apparently. Is anyone close to Eastbourne and could help me with this? Thanks, Jonathan.
