  1. After looking at that recall again, it actually doesn't relate to the leak issue. http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/searches/expand.asp?uniqueID=29B5F16E76C79DAA80257657003EF580&freeText=Blank&tx= Rob
  2. I had that leak looked at today and it's the injector leak-off pipes. They're about €130 incl. vat for the complete assembly, and fitting is 10 minutes, so a good result. The link below is date and model specific for that VOSA recall: http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/searches/search.asp?cboStartMonth=1&cboStartYear=1980&cboEndMonth=1&cboEndYear=2010&cboMake=SKODA&cboModel=SUPERB&cboSortOrder=rec_launch_date&cboAscDesc=ASC&PageSize=10&tx=&Search=Search Thanks again, Rob
  3. Main dealers here were looking for "about €300 sir" for V10 map update .... Gave me a good laugh at least.! Rob
  4. I have to agree that the MKII is not at all 'boat like' in the handling department. Coming from a MKI recently, which is more like a JCB than a boat (no offence to MKI drivers, they're a great car) I can safely say that the MKII is a very good compromise between handling and comfort. Personally I wouldn't want anything stiffer as it would probably lead to rattles and possible suspension damage in the long term. I'd go for a VRS Octavia and be done with it. Just my two cents ... Cheers, Rob
  5. Thanks for the replies guys ... I had a look at those recall dates and it ends with build date 02/09 for the MKII Superb so that doesn't include my car (build date 08/10). I'm taking it to a main dealer after the weekend for diagnosis and I'll post the results. Much appreciate the help, Rob
  6. Hi Sarah, There have been a fair few reports like yours and mostly they point to faulty or underpowered battery's. It's a good place to start at least. Best of luck, Rob
  7. Hi all, Today I had the engine cover off and discovered a small amount of raw diesel sitting at the bottom of the two left hand side injectors (as you look at the engine), the area was obviously wet. I'm guessing it's an injector seal, but I'm wondering if anybody has come across this before on these engines (CR170 CFGB) and how costly a fix is it? It's running sweetly and no fault codes were shown last week at it's main dealer service (I hadn't discovered it at that stage). Any help would be greatly appreciated .. Many thanks, Rob
  8. I have to say, I'm finding the 18"s absolutely fine. I think when I need new tyres I'll put a set of 225 / 45 / 18 on just to give that tiny bit more protection ... Cheers, Rob
  9. Fair enough with the SD card, another good solution. I avoided loading any music onto the HDD in the Columbus unit as they are known to "retire" early sometimes ... Cheers, Rob
  10. Jack, If it's any help ... I bought a used 32GB Gen II iPod (€50 on adverts.ie) it works perfectly, all track names / info / playlists etc. Plugs straight in with the VW data cable, I just leave it in the armrest cubby all the time. Great solution for me, might be something to consider.. Very best, Rob
  11. Just to clarify my own position ... I gave Skoda Ireland my chassis number and they were very specific that mine was 180,000km or 110,000 miles (CR170 CFGB) ... Hope this helps, Rob
  12. I thought that'd open a small can of worms alright ..! Believe me if there was any doubt about the belt, I'd have it done but Skoda over here were adamant about the interval. Others on this forum also agree that Skoda UK are being less than truthful about belt changes. Perhaps an inquiry to Skoda CZ might be worthwhile ... Very best, Rob
  13. Yep, Passat CC ... Final version should look great based on the concept drawings though, looking forward to seeing it. Rob
  14. 2010 Superb Combi Elegance, 2.0 CR TDI 170, met. black, black leather, 18" Themisto's ...A truly great car. Rob
  15. Just got the MKII back from a main dealer service today and the report is all is well, no faults at all. I'm very happy as I only have the car two weeks ( already done 1,400 miles). They did an oil service and that was all it needed. I asked about the timing belt / water pump and ancillaries and they informed me that it would be due at 180,000 KM (110,000 miles aprox.) with no time limit ... I know there is some debate around the belt and pump change intervals ... Away ya go lads.! Happy chappy, Rob
  16. Great info, thanks a lot ... Cheers, Rob
  17. Hi all, Is it possible to replace the gear knob (manual 6) on a MKII as opposed to the whole gaiter? The silver plastic trim on mine has a few flakey bits ( wedding ring damage ) and I'd like to fit a new one (facelift if possible) ... Thanks, Rob
  18. The MKII was sold today and has just been driven away .. What a great car, 170,000 miles and running sweetly, would almost bring a tear to your eye. Best of luck to all in the MKI section, I'll be dropping back, a lot. Onwards, Rob
  19. I think I'll go for that Raleri mirror, €73 delivered. Why it's not standard fit I don't know. Overall, one week and 1,000 miles into ownership, the car is brilliant. Thanks to all, Rob
  20. I took a look at that Raleri one, looks like a good job and the most cost effective .... Rob
  21. I spoke to a VW / Skoda main dealer yesterday and they said it wasn't easy and it would be "very" expensive to fit ... Should be an easy and cost effective fix then.! Thanks to everybody for the help. Rob
  22. Brilliant car ... Good luck with the hunt, Rob
  23. Thanks to everyone for the info, very helpful. I'll look into it properly now and post a reply if and when I get to it. Cheers, Rob
