Car Battery coding tool
Are you meant to put the grey plastic cap back in after install as shown in this video at 4:30, thought that was for transit only.

Is the obdeleven only good for 1 year? After that you have to keep buying licence to get any use of it?

Car Battery coding tool
Thanks all One thing to note, I know Tanya batteries is a favourite on this forum but before ordering I noticed they have alot of negative Google reviews when things go wrong so ordered from Amazon instead. Just something you may want to be aware of.

Car Battery coding tool
Can you drive the car while your wait for the obdeleven? Says delivery up to 14 days, ok to change battery and drive it while I wait for delivery and code after? Also OK to keep the sleeve if changing to agm, think current sleeve is only for EFB ok to leave in place?

Car Battery coding tool
So this is the background and dilemma I have and it is a bit concerning. Garage I use to just do my service items planned to just change the battery, I asked them if they would code it to the car and they said they don't have the machine for that better I go to Halfords. Only when I questioned them, makes me think they just change people's batteries and people are none the wiser. Some people even said Halfords just change the battery and don't code. Rang about 4 garages locally and they said that their diagnostic machine can reset the battery monitoring system to tell the car there is a new battery but can't do anything else. Considering I wanted an agm battery they are saying I should buy like for like as in EFB with same cca etc. I thought you had to change Ah as part of coding even if I buy EFB, my current one is 69ah most new ones are 70 or 75. Also a bit worrying. Couple even said your can't change to agm as your car isn't designed for it, different charging system etc I buy the pro kit for £100 and try and do it properly myself. Seems a real lack of knowledge out there in my local area Thoughts?

Car Battery coding tool
Hi All My battery just died, happy to replace it myself looking at bosch, varta or yuasa. Can anyone recommend a cheap tool just to code the new battery to the car? Never had to do this before so new to me. Battery recommendations also welcome. Thanks in advance

Is it a DQ200?
@roottootThanks I must have missed that alert, checked the service history no mention on 34h5, just standard oil & filter changes. It is a late Nov 2015 1.4 tsi DSG done 45k so low miles 250 Nm 147bhp from main dealer. So from what you have said it would be a dq200 dry clutch, I know the majority of issues published worldwide seem to be up to 2012 ... any ideas if much was done to remediate later dq200 2015 etc or just as prone to faults and may cause a big expense later on.

Is it a DQ200?
Does that mean a 2015 1.4 tsi would certainly have the dq200? Anyway to tell

Dq200 7sp dsg gearbox
Hi All Does anyone know which skoda octavia mk 3 models and years were effected by the dq200 problems and from which year / model the fix came in? Is it likely to have been resolved under warranty if buying a second hand car. Tried to Google but couldn't find a good web page to explain. Posted in mk 3 forum but guess it's more a mechanic question. Many Thanks in Advance

Over 40k car tax surcharge
I had my car off the road during the pandemic for 8 months, with the surcharge car tax is normally £500 does anyone know if it would become a Partial car tax surcharge for just 4 months before the 5 year limit. Or would I still get charged the full year at £500. Hope that makes sense 🙂

5000 mile oil change?
I usually change the oil in my car every 10000 miles, but just read this article where it recommends 5000 miles, just interested in the thoughts of others on the forum. https://www.carscoops.com/2022/08/toyota-master-technician-argues-against-10000-mile-oil-change-intervals-with-busted-engine-teardown/

Mixed old oil with new in oil change
Interesting you mean after you take off the oil filter you put the pipe in there and try extract again? And main oil galley you mean where the oil is normally poured under the large oil cap?

Mixed old oil with new in oil change
Thanks so yes car had done 9.5k when due for oil change and put in castrol edge vw504 as below, so it sounds like it might be ok if I change next year after another 9k ? Castrol EDGE Professional LongLife III 5W-30 4L https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00U2H8ZB2/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_D05XH10H1FE2M200ET41

Mixed old oil with new in oil change
Hi All I bought an oil drainer that sucks the oil from the dipstick to make the oil change easier. It was an unbranded version from ebay. It sucked up the oil but it was difficult to see how much although looked the right amount, so I pumped it a few times after it finished to ensure it got it all. I then changed the oil filter and put new castrol oil in to find it was full after about 3 and a quarter litres. I emptied the old oil in a container to find it was about 3 litres. Anyway this means there is probably about three quarters of a litre of old oil mixed with just over 3 litres of new oil. Do you think this will cause a problem? Am I ok til next change in about a year. Thanks in advance

Sat Nav & Software update
Hi All Has anyone done or seen the need to do a software update & sat nav update. I have a 2015 estate and was thinking if there was new functionality on android auto and others apps that could easily be updated? What would be the best way and cheapest way to do this, rather than main dealer. Also is there a way to update the sat nav maps without needing a trip to main dealer. Just wanted to hear thoughts and ideas on this to keep my car updated.
