  1. I hadn't seen this thread in 2013 but i've noticed in the last 2 weeks the drivers seat squab doesn't appear to be warming up anywhere near as fast as the back squab is. Thought it was just my imagination. Might have to do some tests and see if it's just my mind or if the element has failed before the warranty runs out.
  2. A few years ago, before the yeti, i was looking at the now outgoing QQ and joined the same forum. It had a few people on there that were very enthusiastic and knowledgable but there was a lot of "bling" type chat which wasn't really my thing. What QQ did you settle on in the end if you don't mind me asking? I haven't had the chance to test the 2014 model as of yet and the nissan site is a bit of a mess. Almost SUK in terms of inability to decipher. I'm also a bit perturbed by the size of the alloys but i suppose a test drive will show up if that is an issue or not.
  3. Thought i spotted you on the QQ forums last night!
  4. Have to say i'm with you on the new QQ but my budget doesn't go that far. It is a step up on the outgoing model. I'm fairly certain the replacement vehicle won't be a Yeti, which is a shame as by and large i've enjoyed it. The price has crept up, I'm not a huge fan of the facelift and the engines feel like they should have moved on a bit.
  5. trading the Yeti in and started looking yesterday. Today she has decided to blow the nearside DRL. I suspect a strop has been had.
  6. First thing i noticed was it only had a single Key as well.
  7. Is it me or is that link not aqua blue? It looks like what was called "storm blue" but i thought that was withdrawn? O and blue is the fastest
  8. There are a few on motors.co.uk 3 elegance, 1 SE Plus, 1 SE and 1 S. I'd concur they don't appear to be a big seller. I believe the engine variant is withdrawn on the F/L models?
  9. My initial guess would be a DPF sensor. It'll need plugging in for a diagnostic check.
  10. If it is, it doesn't feel like it. 5th feels overly tall on the 1.6TDi.
  11. Whilst that is a fair enough point when you are told you'll get a high ticket item within a rough time frame an additional 2 months can cause you problems. People set up finances to coincide with purchases like this and they, quite often, have to dispose of their old vehicle which is a depreciating asset. You'd be pretty pee'd off if BT told you they couldn't install a phone line or BB 8 weeks after they'd promised it and yet we are giving a lot of car makers a pass because their "just in time" system isn't anything of the sort. This isn't someone having abit of a paddy about an I"device" This is someone paying £20K and the service should reflect that. You are also comparing "demand" for a new model with all the guesswork associated with a very minor facelift. Skoda should have the supply / demand chain knocked on the head by now on a 4 year old vehicle run.
  12. Pretty much the same as my requirements as the good lady has decided we shall be only having automatics going forward. Have a look at the mazda CX5, i think it is a nicer vehicle to look at than the subaru and is a nice drive. I'm waiting to see what the new QQ looks like as that is also a possibility.
  13. The gearbox is ridiculous for the engine. It could easily carry a 6th gear and i suspect another 25bhp without a problem. It feels like it is hobbled on purpose (possibly something to do with CO2's).
  14. Looks like she made the news! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2487792/Woman-moustache-ditches-razor-Movember.html
  15. Looks a bit like a mazda front on. Which isn't a bad thing IMHO. Interesting they are not going to do a +2 model.
  16. Won't grow a beard on the very vain basis that it is the only hair i have that is going grey. Every time i contemplate the idea, usually winter, i end up looking like someone has painted a stripe on my chin and promptly chop it all off again.
  17. In my experience metallic black is one of, if not the hardest paint to look after. Historically reds were a sod to colour match which is why, i was under the impression, they had a bad "image". I've seen several older red cars that under "street lights" look to have panels that are differing shades of orange. I'm not sure if that is true for modern paint but i have to say i'm very wary of "flat red" as a colour even if it is no longer true. My current Yeti is pacific blue and it's stood up quite well. I don't think i'd choose a dark colour again if i was getting another Yeti, so i'd not go for the green. If it makes you feel better i'm told "navy" cars are the hardest to re-sell... Yay for me!
  18. Another vote for the lidl stuff. Doesn't freeze even when diluted 2:1 and the bottle now has a handy spout. Has a small tendency to "foam" but doesn't detract from performance.
  19. I was up very late on the Sunday evening and on the METs own webpage it had Yorkshire as an amber alert with a big old wind sock and the rain (localised flooding). A few hours later that had gone away and the new report sugegsted it'd be 70 miles south of yorkshire and greatly diminished. I don't blame the MET for getting the track wrong but the press are very london centric and prone to huge exageration. It does appear to be a massive hang over of some recent storms (and a hangover of 1987 in particular). i have great sympathy for loss of life and damage that people suffer but it wouldn't even be in the new the next day if it had flattened large swathes of scotland. To put it in perspective. I was in Miami when Hurricane Floyd pretty much destroyed North Carolina in 1999. I've never seen anything like it and i doubt i ever will in the UK. The UK has a very odd fixation with the weather and, in real terms, our weather is far from the "extremes" it gets made out to be.
  20. It would have been the same as most other autumns or winters where we get those kinds of winds but it isn't in the news? As somone else said above, a plane got hit by a bus shelter in 102mph winds but it wasn't news worthy or part of some "doom alert". Storms in late autumn when the trees are still in leaf are especially dangerous, i will grant you that, but the point is media and the met would have not hyped this up if it was just going to happen to northern england or scotland. As an example, this is the highest recorded wind speed in my area, all be it a gust, in february this year - 113.9 mph. It barely cracked the local news. Anyway, this has drifted off into one of those north and south things
  21. I think the point was that if it hadn't involved the south of the country then it wouldn't have been blared out on the news for the last week that we were all doomed.
  22. Don't have the wind deflectors but i had this with the drivers door window. The "key in the door" trick to re-set the anti-trap sorted it out.
  23. What's the rough cost for that spec TP? I'm getting into itchy feet territory and i'm a bit torn. I drove a CX5 at the w/e and i'm toying whether to jump to mazda but i do like the octy 4x4's and it'd probably be a more suitable car.
  24. Isn't this exactly what daewoo were aiming to be? White goods for the every man. Didn't seem to work out very well. Dacia might do a better job of it but i'm still skeptical that people really see cars as white goods?
  25. Hope you haven't got the equivalent of a dc-10 It was possible to close and "lock" the cargo door when in fact it wasn't locked or latched at all. Because it opens outwards, to insure more cargo can be carried, it was a disastrous fault for several aircraft. Seriously, i've had instances with the boot where it says it is closed on the MFD but after driving for a short while it has bounced onto the "second catch" and the MFd says it is open. I'd have expected it popping from one to the other (due to the way the car pressurises) but to open all the way, you've not got Clarksons rover sd1?
