  1. Had problems 2 years ago of a rather drunk Scotish lady calling me at 10.30 one evening. 16 calls then followed (I needed the phone as it was just before the date my father died). What made this worse is I missed the 1st call and dialed 1471 - this meant said person had my phone number. BT were like a chocolate fireguard initially, and the police didn't want to get involved immediately. So I had to ring my mother with my mobile phone number. I also had to pull the phone from it's socket. Following morning (at 06:30) I reconnected the phone and said person still called (must have had too many wee drams the night before). I managed to get BT to instate choose to refuse for 1 month and this stopped the problem. I wouldn't care but I offered BT the number but they refused to do anything. I now am completely ex directory, number witheld and on the TPS. Result no more neusence or sales calls and I've never heard from said lady since.
  2. If it's new and in stock it needs to be registered - this could be done on the DVLA computer link, but expect it to be ready Tuesday/Wednesday as it will need PDi'ing etc... Also the road tax will need to be collected from the post office. OF course - go with the readies and you could pick it up there and then - depends on the dealer. DVLA computer link may be down PM so if you are desperate, go early. You'll need you insurance cover note in hand. again this will take 2/3 days (unless you can pop into the offices of the insurer and pick it up). More than let me do this, as did Direct Line. Finance is normally very quick - within 1 hour (Skoda took 2 minutes with me last time - but I wasn't borrowing a lot). If used/Demo you could probably scrape a pick up, providing the dealer obliges and you have all the docs and go early. However it's best not to push the dealer too hard. Finally deposits. If you are not picking up the car there and then, DO NOT pay for the car in advance. You will have to leave a deposit (
  3. Sorry Guys - I will not buy a Ford after a problamatic Fiasco I had 9 years ago. Also, think this way:- Ford do not limit supply as per VAG group do - lower residuals Skoda servicing is cheaper than Ford Every self respecting c.h.a.v. will want the ST 'cos it's a Ford' Higher insurance grouping. The more people buying ST's - the more exclusive the VRS becomes. Skoda reduce the prices during a car's life span (The new mid range Fabia cost less than my first Fabia Classic in 2001). Personally I prefer the Fabia - intend to buy a VRS in 2006. Any half competetent new hot hatch can only make the dealer keener to give a discount on a Skoda. Could say more but don't want to put my foot in my mouth. To all perspective Ford Focus ST buyers - just hope your alarm doesn't go off like Clarksons, on his FORD GT. Don't want to be kept awake at night.
  4. I've taken the ZS to my Skoda Garage. Car came back in a better shape than it ever did from an MGR garage. Mind MGR cars no longer have warranties :orb_sick:
  5. Been very good on the 2 occasions I Emailed. Leave your phone number and they will call back. Got a very attractive sounding lady on the phone the last time. :orb_love_

  7. Had too many cars but.... My 1st Skoda (a brand new Favorit LS) replaced a Hyundai Pony in 1992 My 2nd Skoda (an R Reg Felicia GLX) replaced a Vectra (yuk) in April 2000 My 3rd Skoda (A Fabia SDI(New)) Replaced the Felicia in 2001 My 4th Skoda (A Fabia 1.2 Comfort (New)) Replaced an Alfa 156  My 5th Skoda (An Octavia Ambiente(Demo)) Replaced the Fabia Bought the MG as a 2nd car here. My 6th Skoda (Fabia 1.2 Ambiente(New)) Replaced the Octy.
  8. The truth of these is most people don't have time to fill in endless surveys. Those who do are normally 1. Retired and/or have time on their hands. They tend to praise their cars to high heaven 2. Those who are totally sick to the back teeth with their cars. These people just criticise their car, failing or no failing. I have to be honest I filled the survey in for my last skoda (the 53 reg Octavia) as it was giving me a few issues (nothing major but not the usual Skoda reliability I had come to expect). Now I'm back to a Fabia I don't think I'll bother with next year's survey. As for the ZS - it was fine so I didn't bother. However the last few weeks may just persuade me to enter it in next year's survey.
  9. Andy, I have had the (mis)fortune of owning a new 156 for a year. I definitely wouldn't say that if buying new unless 1. You have an endless pot of cash. I lost 50% in 12 months on the car and 2. You are on first name terms with your Alfa dealer. I spent more time in a Fiat Punto/Stilo/Alfa147 than my 156. just my 2 pence worth
  10. My last home had a rear facing living room. Halowee meant getting a take away and closing the door (all thought I was out). This backfired 2 years ago when I was moving. Had 13 (kid you not) sets of sprogs doing their 'Trick or Treat' thing when I was trying to move a fridge (moving night). Last year (in new gaff) had no probs - probably because I live in a private drive with neighbours double my age (joy of owning a bungalow with a neighbourhood watch co ordinator next door. Also stops the Carol Singers, Penny for a Guy and other associater retrogrades.
  11. Yup but you'd have thought in this day and age you could have got it earlier. For example what say if you were out of the country for 4 weeks and the renewal came during this period. Also the DVLA don't discourage you to renew early (no warnings on web site).
  12. It's good - but be careful. You need to apply on/after 15th of the month or you will loose 1 month's tax. E.g. If your tax is due on 31st October 2005 and you apply on 14th your tax (for 12 months) will expire on 31st September 2006. If you apply on 16th your tax will expire on 31st October 2006. Same goes for 6 months. Also you need to allow 5 working days for delivery. DVLA are looking into direct debit (monthly was hinted). Even if they do DDWA I would be interested in that.
  13. Welcome - I'm a relative newbie here. People are very friendly (so I've found). As for an OCTY - have you looked at the older version in L & K trim - might be what you're looking for.
  14. All I will say of the Alfa is I had a very bad experience with a brand new 156. Take a furby VRS for a test drive. Your pocket will be heavier if you buy. It's also loads more fun than the Alfa to drive (even if the diesel is noisier).
  15. Yup - 130 came out on an 03 plate. Elegance and L & K trim only and the badge Tdi instead of Tdi And a 6 speed box as well. Wanted one, but was recovering at the time from being stung by Alfa Finance & Depriciation - So ended up with a Fabia.
  16. Don't have any mods yet - have never done any in the past - but if Mr Jabba can do a mod to my 12v to make it a little quicker I would be interested, That being said the more I think about it the more I want to swap both cars for a furbie VRS next year - and have it chipped. (And to think I was hanging on for a Yeti) Back on the subject of having the :cussing: taken out of you for driving a Skoda is nothing new. Indeed one of my colleagues refused to drive it, until I handed over the keys. Now he's thinking of buying one.
  17. OK it was nearly 6 years ago but I bought a felicia from them. Car wasn't even properly cleaned when I picked it up (OK it was 3 years old but I didn't expect sweet wrapers in the rear ashtrays). Car was not serviced and I had to take it to the local Halfords for new break pads within 2 weeks of purchase. I ended up getting the car serviced at my own expense from an ex Skoda dealer. After a mere 9 months I needed a diesel due to a job move (was doing 800 miles a week) - and a Fabia was what I wanted. I was offered £1800 for a car I had bought for £4800 9 months and 12000 miles earlier. Other Skoda dealers offered £3k. Thankfully I had no problems with the Felicia but I would not recomend this dealer because of this.
  18. Bought my Current Fabia Ambiente on 1st September. No problems whatsoever - they even fixed a fault on my other car (the ZS) for very little money. will be dealing with these guys in the future.
  19. Yup. My previous Fabia had this and I was told by Jess (The saleswoman) that Mr Vindis liked this on all of his cars. I then refused to hand over the log book (V5) on my trade in and the sticker transfers were promptly removed. When I replaced the car with an Octavia, the garage didn't make the same mistake. However do ask before buying a car. ALS (Locks) at Little Downham do the same now. Must be an infection spreading through Cambridgeshire, Also on the subject of Locks, my previous Fabia was on Variable servicing. Vindis didn't tell me so I took the car in at 10k. At 15k the service due indicator came on and they blamed it on the car. Now I take the car to Lock's or Wings (p'borough) and they actually clean the car.
  20. You could say that. Dad was always pushing me to buy Skoda when he was alive. Sadly the family in Czecho seem to drive Pugs and Renaults (and even a Yaris) now. Intending to do Staples 2 Naples in a
  21. Hi, Was pointed to this site by a member of the Mg-rover.org site. Currently I have 2 cars a Fabia 1.2 Ambiente Hatch (55 reg) and a MG ZS 110 4dr (53 Reg). I have owned 5 other skodas so am not new to the marque. Indeed the 1st car I drove on a public road was a Super Estelle 120 LS over 20 years ago (Those were the days - box steering  ) More importantly, my father was Czech and is burried in a village outside Brno (Buchlovice). Indeed I do visit the country at least twice a year, so if anyone wants some hard to get spares, please let me know - nothing too bulky mind - most of my journies there are on cattle class airways. Same goes for any advice needed regarding traveling through that country. For example, did you know you can hire a new Fabia from Alimex for 450Kc's (Just over
