  1. That's mad! Furry steering wheel for comfort Time to get it running and it wont have time to mould up then!
  2. Price sounds about right for fitting as its quite a long job to do. I take it you mean KKK and not K03? k03's are on the 1.8T petrol lumps i believe? Anyway, glad its at least being fixed. The Garret turbo will be rock solid and outlast the car
  3. Yeah i know they aren't loud - My concern was i wouldn't be able to rev it high enough to satisfy them before the launch limiter kicked it!
  4. How will it hurt people? The launch control that gets mapped in by a lot of companies just limits revs below a certain MPH from standstill - nothing fancy like a Ferrari! 2.7krpm is around 3/4 of 4.5krpm anyway so that should keep most tracks happy
  5. My concern was turning up and it not revving as far as they would like it to and being sent home out of pocket. Like you say, diesels are pretty quiet, even with a full exhaust system
  6. Exhaust wise i can recommend Piper. See posts on here - they offer forum discount as well. The decat has a reducer included to run with standard cat back as well if you want to do that. Ive got the full turbo back decat, with one silencer and it sounds great. Not loud on normal driving at all, but sounds great on full chat with the Hybrid turbo ive got
  7. I know, i know! Saw some of it on my recent travels. Its still work in progress though, so dont expect full production within the next few days people, I took my intake manifold off with EGR still attached when fitting my turbo. got full access to all bolts from the air box side as well, you just need to do it by feel as you have no visibility.
  8. Thanks. So your old MK1 Fabia had a limiter too? What rpm did yours rev to? I take it you never got any issues from the 'noise police' hitting a limiter at lower rpm?
  9. Hi All, I'm looking to get involved in a few track days this year, and was wondering what tracks need noise testing and at what rpm they test? The reason i ask is not because my car is loud, its the fact it has launch control and only revs to ~2700rpm while stationary...! I may need to get this disabled!
  10. No its specific for the Fabia as it isnt just the N75 valve, its other bits as well. Also to note is the BLT and ASV have different plugs on the box. I dont know part numbers im afraid.
  11. Try turning it off with the clutch depressed, this helps ease the judder!
  12. 1. BossFox 2. CRAIGROBBO (4x4 Wagon). 3. PastyBoy 4.Rich5 5. M12MKD 6. NoSmokeNoPoke Best put this new Hybrid to some use! Also depending on date
  13. I must admit, it was a great service. I initially wanted more 'punch' as it came onto boost, and a bit later, it was there! I need it rolling road checked now to give an idea of bhp and torque (for willy waving at the pub of course!) - maybe we could go do one on the same day as a comparison. Ijm still yet to have some time to try this launch control properly as well.
  14. I think they just raise what the car is expecting so it never reaches this value so you'll be OK. Its the ASV which is plugged into the loom, the EGR is vacuum controlled from the vacuum box on the suspension turret.
  15. Best to ask the tuner what this means for their map. I have a BLT with no EGR, and i dont get the EML light so must be mapped out
  16. Needed stop screw adjusting, then actuator rod adjusted to keep within the limits - Its a bit technical for me, but between 70 and 80 'something' springs to mind...?
  17. Well, some of you may have read I was having issues with my new turbo setup, and was directed in the direction of Dean and Carl at Dirty Torque Developments. Once contacted they immediately offered me up to their unit to check things out. I was greeted with a smile (and half eaten McDonalds brekkie – it was barely 9am after all!) and they set to work straight away. The issue was quickly identified and after around 12 logs in VCDS/VAGCOM and numerous adjustments they had the turbo bang on. Well, from this point one conversation led to another, and we agreed for them to do a custom map for the new hybrid as they had already had knowledge of the car from the mornings work. To top it off, they could do it that day! The guys set about some other jobs while I went to get some lunch and we met back at the unit a few hours later. I pulled the car into the unit and he guys set about taking the old map off and getting the mapper to write the first map for the car. Immediately the car was great to drive, but the guys asked many questions about my driving and what I expected from the car and set about making it better – truly custom! After around 8 maps both myself and the guys were happy with power delivery along with all the important bits of how the engine was running. The guys talked me through every step of the way, and got me involved which was great. Im a bit of a geek, so threw plenty of questions to them about what they were doing to which they were more than pleased to take me through it. In fact, at one point they took me over the a spare engine where they explained how parts I was questioning about worked! After the drive home and a few days in the hot seat its running perfectly. A nice clean, non smoky, smooth map that pulls right to the rev limiter. Not to mention their special addition – launch control! As you can tell i'm thankful for the guys getting to the bottom of my troubles and to top it off finish with an outstanding map – Spending over 12 hours on my car! (I arrived at 9am, left about 9pm!) I know the guys are new to the scene, but their development car is a Fabia vRS so they know it inside out, and they have some great partners to offer the full package. Give the guys a call – you'd be surprised the people they work with seeming the business is so new.
  18. To wrap this up - It was the turbo that needed adjusting. Both actuator rod and stop screw were adjusted with the help of VCDS/VAGCOM to keep an eye on actual vs requested amongst other things.
  19. Use the search its been covered recently. Basically, no! But info is covered in the previous posts.
  20. The colour wires into it look like stereo ones. Trace them back? I think itll be stereo/bluetooth kit related as a hunch.
  21. It could still be the turbo, but the main actuator is definitely set right now, and adjusted to suit better. It could be a mechanical fault on the VNT mechanism, but unlikely and other avenues need to be looked into first. It'll be plugged into VCDS in the morning and go from there.
  22. Its a right pain, but i'm not losing hope yet, its got to be something! - I'm certain with the right kit and knowledge Dirty Torque can find the problem tomorrow. I should open up a booky type betting. 2 to 1 on the N75!
  23. UPDATE - Had the very helpful turbo builder visit me and has checked, double checked and triple checked with changing the actuator rod (within spec, nothing extreme) and the drive is much the same. I must say it does boost slightly quicker, but no shove at all and something isn't right. This left us head scratching! A phone call later and speaking to a very helpful Dean, i'm booked in and heading up to Dirty Torque tomorrow for some VCDS/VAGCOM testing. If the turbo is right, then im now leaning towards a dodgy N75/vacuum box. It does pull the turbo 'shut' on idle, but im just wondering if it has no control over the turbo to boost properly? Funny how this happened in the same day as changing the turbo though... anyway, i'll report back when i know more!
  24. I had the Thuel aero ones with specific Fabia foot pack. Were really good and looked OK for roof bars. I had 2 of the 591 (?) bike carrier on them and they made a right racket (whistling) and shed about 5mpg! And i had a 3k bike knicked from mine and it was locked with the built in Thule lock! Safe to say, the bike/s now go in the car with a plastic sheet down!
