  1. Hi, My oil temperature has started to flutuate rapidly, going from approx 87C to 109C within a few seconds and continuing to cycle like that. No faults are logged and everything else is normal. I presume its a dodgy sensor but am curious to know if anyone's seen this before
  2. It'd be worth trying to find someone local with ODBeleven or similar edit: apologies - I see now that you've already posted looking for an OBDeleven owner near you. I reckon that that's your best bet if you can find someone.
  3. It's possible that the scanner isn't picking up the code. The generic scanners can vary a lot
  4. Does your phone have a cover on it? Some covers seem to make the phone hotter when wireless charging. I've an Otterbox cover on mine and but never gets too hot on the charging pad. iPhone 11 with 88% battery health.
  5. If you have a Combi with roof rails, you'll just need the bars and the raised rail Evo foot kit. For the saloon, you need a clamp kit (145207) as well as the Evo kit and bars themselves.
  6. Can you post another picture from a little further out please?
  7. Its been a while now but I think that my series 2 Superb had a manual boot with interior release with the button where @IJWS15 suggests. My last series 3 had an electric boot so that wasn't quite the same. At least I'm not missing something obvious
  8. Hi The build sheet for my 2021 Superb Combi shows an item 4E2 - Tailgate/trunk release from inside (electrically). I can't find anything inside the car that allows me to open the boot, apart from the button on the key. The boot lid is operated manually - its not the electrically operated version. Is there something that I'm missing?
  9. It was an 'official' Skoda integrated towbar (branded ACPS Automotive) and was supplied and fitted for €1,000 all in (car already had factory towbar prep). In terms of alternatives, I've had two Peugeots with the Westfalia removable tow hitch. Its a very neat job but one fault that it has is that the electrical socket swivels so that it can be hidden. Unfortunately, it swivels to hide in the same direction that a trailer socket has to be swiveled to lock into position which means that you need to use two hands and usually have to kneel to connect it. That's fine if the ground is dry and you're towing a trailer but its a right pain when you're carrying a bike rack as there's no room between the rack and the car for you to fit into. The Skoda towhitch has the electrical socket integrated so there's no need for the socket itself to swivel. Worth keeping an eye out for if you decide to go for an aftermarket towbar. I think that all Irish cars have towbar prep as standard - I'm not sure how UK cars are specced but I didn't spot 'trailer hitch preparation' on the UK spec sheet. As above, its branded ACPS Automotive and was approximately a third more expensive than aftermarket fitters here. I reckoned that it was worth it as the car is only a few months old so I'd have warranty concerns and some suppliers here didn't think that they'd be able to code the car so I'd have to live with any sensor issues while the tow hitch was visible. I was also concerned that some of them seemed to use tap splice connectors and I don't like that approach.
  10. I finally got a retractable towbar fitted at my local Skoda dealer - nice neat job and a reasonable price too. I had thought that the new Combis got electronic release but this one is manual
  11. Thanks for the replies. My dealer came back to say that only cars with matrix LED headlights have that strip light up so as @JR RS has mentioned above, my car seems to have the basic cluster and the likes of the Sportline and L&K trims have the high cluster (in term of the Irish specification).
  12. @PhilDigs6259 I remember that on my 2016 saloon the inner part lit up but didn't on the spec below mine. I had hoped that if it was trim-related that I might be able to upgrade using OBD Eleven I've tried every combination that I can think of including day/night time, engine running/off and dipped lights/fog lights etc on/off but the inner part stays unlit. My car seems to have been built in May of this year. @GregorSamsa Good idea - I might call in to the dealer to make life easier
  13. Thanks for the pic - that's exactly the way that I'd like mine to look. I haven't seen any other 2021 Combis to compare with but I'll keep a lookout
  14. Hi, The lit area taillights/drls on my 2021 estate do not extend into the tailgate area. I'd like to enable a 'full width' lighting up of the taillight/drl (see highlighted area of the attached photo). The rear lights on the main body of the car have LED taillights/DRLs but filament reverse light and indicator bulbs. The tailgate lights seem to be fully LED going by their appearance and the foglight. I can't see any option to do it in OBD Eleven with the closest option being to enable Scandanavian DRLS. Is it possible to enable the strip on the tailgate itself? From what I've seen on the road here in Ireland, the saloons seem to have the area fully lit.
  15. Thanks - I understand now. It does sound like a dealer visit will be necessary to sort it out - hopefully it'll be a straightforward fix. Do please let us know the outcome - it'll be useful for future reference on the forum.
  16. I think what Mick means is that you should lock the car, walk away, leave the key somewhere and then try to open the boot using the release button above the number plate. You should not be able to do so unless you have the key on your person. Not sure what you mean by "I can open the boot on the key fob from locked." as that sounds like expected behaviour.
  17. I was told that Irish cars are getting adaptive cruise control (Ambition upwards) and virtual cockpit (all trim specs) from September. There's a price increase to reflect that though. Basically, I think what you'll see in the Superb pricelist on the website reflects the new specs and prices: https://www.skoda.ie/_doc/e1ed3bfb-3179-4184-9b3f-1eef7f948c0d
  18. Congrats on the new purchase
  19. The problem with the Superb is that you get used to the idea that it'll fit anything and its a bit of a shock when it doesn't. The armchair incident hurt my pride as my wife was surprised when I replaced the Mk11 Superb estate with a Mk111 saloon. I looked at the boot capacity, decided that there wasn't much in it and thought that I'd save a few bob. Its a bit of an extreme example though. It only happened once and the chances are that you'll use & enjoy the extra toys in the Sportline hatch on a daily basis whereas the extra capacity of the estate might only be needed once in a blue moon. On the other hand, you'll never regret buying the estate as you'll know that there wasn't a more spacious option. I don't envy you your dilemma.
  20. I've had both and currently have an estate. You're right about the vertical height - most times its not an issue but when you need it you really need it. I got caught out once with the saloon when we bought a large armchair that was just a bit too high for the slope of the tailgate. I'm happier with the estate. We have two four year olds so we're finally free of buggies but the vertical space is very useful for easily fitting scooters, bikes etc etc As other posters have said, security and safety have to be factored in as well.
  21. I had Daltons in Portlaoise do a towbar on a previous car. As you're a bit of a distance away from them, it'd be worth your while finding a reputable VAG indy who'd be able to cover the coding aspect. If your car has towbar prep then its a lot easier in terms of wiring. Just make sure that whoever does the job doesn't hack the wiring and uses the proper control modules.
  22. I got mine front & back from my local main dealer as it was cheaper than paying the shipping from Kopacek (€36 main dealer vs €44 delivered from Kopacek). Delivery to Ireland is probably more expensive than to UK but worth checking. Will you have to pay customs and fees if importing from Kopacek? I tried to fit them without removing the wheels but failed because of the need to drill a hole inside the wheelarch. It might depend on your drill/drill bit/dexterity though.
  23. I picked this up last Friday, got the rear windows tinted yesterday, fitted mudflaps and gave it a wash and first coat of sealant/wax today.
  24. Can you tell if its on the outside or the inside? Can you tell if a tint film has been applied to the glass? If it has you should be able to tell by winding down the window slightly and examining the top edge for a lip
