  1. Thanks Ken, going to collect wife from work the gremlins really had fun. the wipers came on and could only be stopped by pulling the fuse. When wife got in car the door open light came on so I got out and slammed all the doors, when I opened the tailgate the horn blew for a couple of seconds and the hazards came on. Decided it was time to visit my trusted local garage. All the staff there had a good laugh and said bring it in Monday. The boss gave me a clue though when he wiggled the boot lid cable gaiter. Back at home I pulled back the gaiter - The big brown wire was completely snapped. Going to solder in a new length tomorrow. Hope for the best, even if it doesn't fix it, it's needed. Abandoned all plans for the weekend, watch this space.
  2. Although I run a Roomster, I thought I'd post here as the Roomster is identical to the Fabia front end. Briefly, after a short run, I turned off and withdrew the ignition key and the engine kept running. It would not turn stop until I turned off the sidelights. I did it a few more times as I could hardly believe it. So now I can only stop the engine if I turn off the sides. Everything else is normal, Any ideas please? Thanks for reading.
  3. Drove wife to work this morning, 3m journey, temp 3. On returning home switched of ignition and withdrew key - ENGINE CONTINUED RUNNING. I could hardly believe it so reinserted key and tried again, same again. Switched off sidelights (forgotten they were on) and engine stopped. Tried numerous combinations of lights/ignition etc. I can switch off engine with key only if side lights are off. If I withdraw key with side lights on I can stop engine by turning off sidelights. Any ideas please? Anyone ever heard of this? Thanks for reading PS. It is not 1st April.
  4. I have alloy wheels and a steel spare. I asked the dealer if the bolts are OK with both and was assured they are.
  5. Could be an intermittent short on the cig lighter or it's wiring. Maybe you need a new battery if lights are dimming.
  6. There's a product used mainly in boating which may help - Captain Tolley's creeping crack cure, (really)
  7. Mine's floppy in heating position. Never checked if heating functions though, I live down south.
  8. Nope, but it might affect braking. Also worth checking the handbrake is fully off. My reasoning is that the braking system is more important than your other woes. Is it petrol or diesel ?Coil pack suggests petrol but exhaust light suggests diesel
  9. Thanks for that Aubrey - completely different to tailgate. Have a good Christmas.
  10. Have you tried to unclip from the door? Could be easier. The tailgate one was difficult to remove first time.
  11. I have done a similar repair by soldering in a new length of wire. (It was the tailgate) I opened the loom inside the gaiter to identify which colour wires were broken. Then I threaded a new wire (about 1 meter) inside the gaiter one end towards the car, other end towards the door. I cut the wire that was broken inside the car also inside the door. I then soldered in the new length to bridge the gap. I left the old broken wire in place and taped where I had cut the wrapping of the loom. Leave a little slack to prevent it happening again. Good luck!
  12. I'd bet it's the wiring between door and car. KALA XRONIA
  13. Yes, through the steering exactly as I used to get in my old Ford Consul Macpherson struts. The Roomster seems to have similar struts? I'll try a wheel swap if the rain stops.
  14. Changed my wheels over a week ago. Winter wheels on, although not needed but I've got them so I'm using them. Out on the road at 60-70mph quite severe wobble, so I had them balanced asap. At first it seemed OK but after a couple of days noticed a wobble again. Not so severe but noticeable. Any ideas please?
  15. Maybe the hood microswitch is faulty? (If it exists)
  16. Will the door open from inside? If yes check the wiring to the door for broken conductors. Same as commonly happens to front door I guess. If it wont open, I have no idea - sorry. Also I believe opening from outside is now an MOT requirement.
  17. I'd be willing to bet it's the wiring between door and A post. Try pulling back the gaiter and checking the wiring visually. I've heard that a small screwdriver will release the to of the gaiter.
  18. Would that be fogs without headlights? I think that's an MOT fail.
  19. Perhaps my previous post gave the wrong impression. My sensors operate normally without a trailer, they do not sound when a trailer coupled up - only a picture of a trailer. I have got 13 pin electrics, fully integrated,
  20. Not sure how this thread got here, but as I said I have absolutely no problems with fixed towbar and reverse sensors.
