  1. Just finished up on the PCP for a pair of MC fabia estates. Swapping to yeti SEL and L&K for the great price on lease. Does anyone know if the factory rubber mats from the fabia fit the Yeti? Also where is the cheapest place for the official roof bars? Got the local dealer to match Simpsons - who were awful on the phone stating those yetis were rare and not interested in our Montes. So didn't make the trip. The local dealer did the same lease deal but wanted me to take PCP which was £100 more expensive a month. Took 3hrs to sort him out. Really was shocking. My experience of Skoda dealers is dreadful. Making buying their cars a chore or just plain slow returning to office for 10 minute finance sessions. Also no equity in the Montes. Sold a pup there. But the cars are great. Thanks in advance. Sent from my XT1580 using Tapatalk
  2. Avid mtber. Gone around in circles over the years with every combination but with my tech estate roof mounted all the way. Fitted thule wing bar edge, look sleek and quiet. Thule pro ride racks for the bikes. Still get 40+. Fastest and most convenient way unless you're constantly parking in low roof places. Not cheap but neither are my bikes. Only absolute downside is the wheel trays tend to break when enduring consecutive freezing days over a couple of years, if left outside. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  3. Girlfriend has ordered a tech. She was given an okay p/x for her 2 year old diesel fab estate. Was quite shocked how much they depreciated but I suppose they're cheap from the outset. Went back to rainworth, they offered here 700 more than Doncaster (where she bought it). Originally diesel was a good idea but now lack of miles is relevant and she wanted to change her car before warranty was up, plus usual wear and tear issues. She's been given a three week wait, which is nothing and got free mats (which I had to pay for.) Also, the salesman knew that the Monte had sill protectors in. Back to rainworth in future then purely for the distance saving and better service in this instance. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  4. I partially agree but the analogy doesn't sit well with me, for instance you may go to tescos and they won't usually give you specialist knowledge. Box shifters for the cheapest price. But if I walk into my local butchers I expect them to be able to advise me appropriately on their products and they do. Now translate this to a Skoda dealer , you would expect them to know more about their cars and treat their customers say better than a car supermarket or drivethedeal etc. They are the only specialists we have for Skoda. We pay a bit more to get better looked after than a discount website. I digress, but I've now chased Doncaster for a ballpark p/x on a car they sold me against a new Skoda. 24hrs later still no call, that doesn't require specialist knowledge just decent customer service. So I ring them and they are apparently "working on it." Jeez. My beef with Lincoln is much more than the sill incident - that was the final straw in a string of events. So when people here jump to their defence - they clearly are only hearing half the story, and in typical internet fashion are on the defensive for their brand/dealership when all I'm reporting is poor customer service which could be improved if we didn't all make excuses for them. We'd all be better off. Anyway, enough on the matter, the car is great! A positive nod to Skoda insurance, fantastic phone manner and organisation. Price was great too. They couldn't do enough. 5. Another pic. 'Tis a great drive. Still only done 90 miles in it!. Had a ring around to different dealers to try and secure one for girlfriend, was struggling to find any more Petrol Tech Estates on the system. I will go to Doncaster I think next time, they seem to be on the ball (Mildly)
  6. My business is not skoda cars or skoda parts though. Besides who says I'm astute? Well I've learned my lesson that it's not possible to purchase as car from the said dealership and let them be the experts of their own products, so no real confidence in them. Should I check the engine - just in case i have the 86bhp version? :wonder: *UPDATE* I've just spoke to them on the phone (since they didn't call me back) - and the parts guy confirmed the Monte Carlo does have sill protectors. Would've been handy last night though eh? The same guy who unloaded them to me. All in all very poor, and has definitely sullied things a bit. It's meant to be a nice experience, and it hasn't been. Still, looking forward to the Skoda UK customer service call ...
  7. No I didn't, if I had I wouldn't have ordered them prior. Given I'd not sat in the car at that point. And then you dive in a new car, in the pouring rain etc. It's not the first thing on my mind to keep the door ajar. Bad circumstances. But I expect *them* to know the car better than me. Yeah? Isn't that what I'm paying for - their expertise in a hand-over, for the models they see day in and day out. That's fine with your experience, I understand people have different experiences. And trust me I have lots of reasons for wanting to like them and being an alternative to my much closer main dealer. (otherwise I wouldn't have made the journey in the first place - which is double distance.)
  8. is the greenline much different to the standard 1.6 diesel. My Gf has got the bog standard 1.6 (75) and I thought it drove okay. But even she is likely to give it up for a petrol soon.
  9. I love "Lincoln" - the city... I eat there - jews house , cycle there and have friends there. But I haven't had much pleasure dealing with their dealership. In fact I rang at 9:30 this morning to see if I can return the sill protectors, firstly why didn't anyone tell me the monte already had them, given I was just about to drive off in it. They let me buy them. Secondly, no one has yet returned my call. It doesn't take 90 mins to return a quick call. Poor. I run a business and I treat people like gold. I have to.
  10. Steady drive to work - 10 miles, got 44MPG with little effort. Enjoying messing with the maxi-dot, anyone know how to default it to something. IE it starts showing Sat nav info rather than the last element you were on (Ie music etc.) Starting to feel better now I've revved it, was a bit sticky in the middle of the range. Car hand-over wasn't great, after being promised mats at 'mate's rates.' I was told the price was already discounted as per the internet. Great, well my GF is getting a new car and we won't be coming to you. The salesman has been lacking social skills from the start, and didn't let up towards the end.Someone please give me a decent dealer in East Mids/Yorks and don't say Rainworth or Lincoln. Incredibly the Fabia Estate (505, 1485) has almost the same boot capacity as my outgoing Qashqai+2 (450, 1520), and very similar spec with a much better engine. I will miss the upright driving position and the qashqai was prettty good on the MPG. But the fabia will be better. Better gearbox and better engine, given its weight too. Much easier to load bikes on to. Although the qq has a nice level loading bay and 7 seats. Not really the same car, but does the same things for me - and effecitvely nearly 8-9k Cheaper.
  11. I had a lovely mk2 gti 16v. That was a revver and it handled beautifully (for the time). Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  12. It's okay to rev its nuts off then? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  13. Picked mine up. Lashing it down. Initial observation is the brake drums are grey. Does that mean they've been painted! I've heard people taking about it. Drive home was okay, feels nice and sharp , not particularly quick but probably still tight. 38mpg on way. Sat nav way better than i thought it would be. More to come.. 14. The estate for me is a practical decision. Roof bars and the extra space take precedent in over the roof colour. The roof bars are a glossy black in keeping with the rest of the kit. Let me know how you other guys get on a pick up. Sent from my HTC One mini using Tapatalk 2
  15. There you go, there's mine. Due to be picked up tmw. Embarrassed to say at the time the dealer had to estimate the cost, as it wasn't on the computer at the time. Still I've done some checking on the price and things like delivery were added on before the discount was applied. It didn't make an whole lot of sense and they put Gap and Guard-X in the quote without asking. It was loads of trouble to remove the guard-x - the guy kept saying "'well I will have to re-do the finance." - Yeah well do it!! My experience of Skoda Garages in general has been very poor. The only thing they have going for them are good deals and decent cars. But customer service and returning calls, responding to emails is awful.I was the easiest customer in the world to deal with, walked in and said I will order a car today, I couldn't have been easier to satisfy. Whole experience hasn't been great to be honest (rushed, rude, awful salesman who I refuse to deal with now.) The only upside, is an old friend works there and he's on the ball - and was good to see him.
  16. I ordered one at the beginning of July, as it had just showed up on the puter at the dealers (3 red ones.) It's ideal as I would have had to spec a monte carlo up which would have cost more. Not heard anything for a few weeks now.
  17. After a bit of debate it was decided that a Monte tech estate does actually exists, so ordered one today. (I believe only five being made available. ) This was a cheaper option than speccing a regular Monte up to "tech" spec. Does anyone know if the fabia has a speed limiter? And what part of the extras it comes with? On my current qashqai it's part of the cruise control - but can't see the same mentioned anywhere for the fabia. Thanks. 18. I've got some Skoda/Thule/Lockable bars from my previous Oct Mk1 Estate. Don't know if they'd fit yours. But I could do with shifting if your interested. They're probably not the newest condition in the world but they work fine. I got fleeced for £180 when buying from the main dealer. Pm if interested , I could at least send you a picture.
  19. Well upon inspection, it appears to have not dropped a valve at all! Neither is it the cam-belt. A spark plug has forced itself out! Not sure yet how much hassle this is going to be. But thanks for all the help/info here!
  20. Thanks for your help Greg. Very helpful. Now I've been blind in having my car main dealer services on the dot - would they have not changed it by default? I didn't realise I would have to instigate it.
  21. Aw, after 5 years of impeccable service - my came to a halt last night with a dull thud. Called out AA man - who says he thinks it may have dropped a valve. Now, I have had a authorised LPG conversion on this car for 60,000 miles and I don't think for a minute this would be the reason, but my problem is the LPG conversion was done by a specialist and the servicing by Skoda - so I'm wondering who my first port of call should be - If I got in touch with Skoda I'm sure a new engine/rebuild would be a fortune (more than the car's worth)? It's been services as per the schedule but I don't think the cam belt has been changed - and it's done 83,000 miles. Where would you start? Many thanks in advance.
  22. It's not that easy to do brim to brim, because of the expansion needed (20%) and differing filling cut-offs per pump. But I did the best I could for 12 months and kept extensive logs of all my mileage and fill-ups. (240 - 270 per 50L tank). It averaged about 23 on LPG and 26 on Petrol. (Auto 1.8T) Whether you subscribe to way cheaper or not is subjective, but I'm more happy paying 52ppl than 115ppl. Especially as it's now paid for itself. There is no debate here for me. Some vehicles make good candidates, and not all conversions are equal - which may explain your discrepancy.
  23. The maths do add up if you have a) A Good conversion and Your petrol car offers poor MPG. If your petrol car is already very efficient - then there would be very little financial incenctive. On LPG your savings are made on the cost of the fuel not the MPG. For instance if you can get LPG for 51.9 or even 48ppl as I can - then this is 60% less than petrol. Assuming an average loss of MPG of 15% per fill up then you should still be way cheaper.
  24. Hence the shouldn't. We have three LPG cars in our family, none of them incurred an increase. Different insurers do different things I guess. Interestingly elephant for me was more expensive the standard car.
  25. In the meantime I've saved a fortune.
