  1. Cheers Des! Maybe the lacquer is thicker on the metallic finishes?
  2. Waxed my new (red) Furby over the w/e and was very surprised at the number of stone chips in only 2,000 miles. More chips than my last car (Ford Focus) had in 80,000 miles! Anyone else have a similar concern? Is it evidence of poor paint?
  3. Lowering looks great but if, like me, you regularly drive 5-up with luggage, your wheels will disappear up their own arches! Even with the standard set-up the rear wheels are well up into the arches when fully loaded - even at rest...
  4. Thanks Ross. Does the training manual also have a description of the Pumpe Duse system? Most of the info I've read is pretty thin on detail...
  5. Took my first look underneath my new Furby today. Amazed at how much of it is covered in black plastic sheeting. Puzzled to find mounted on the offside floor (approx under the driver's footwell) some kind of alloy heat-sink or raditator mounted flat against the body floor. It was about 18" x 9" and still warm. I haven't the faintest idea what it is or what it does. Fuel cooler? Heat sink for ECU? (surely not). Ideas on a postcard...
  6. Yes. See these threads: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?t=9006 http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?t=9035. Several reports of the same noises ought to warrant a place on your list. And thanks for putting this together by the way.
  7. My new Furby has developed a possible fault on which I'd welcome comment. After breaking to rest (say at a junction), on pull away, there is a dull 'thud' from the bulkhead area. It just happens the once and nothing is heard again until the car next comes to rest, when on pulling away...etc etc you get the picture. Could it be the ABS?
  8. My new Furby vRS is so darned quiet on the motorway that a strange wind noise is driving me mad! I know I should just turn up the stereo, but has anyone else come across it and found a cure? I can only decribe it as a metallic tinkling sound from the area of the o/s/f window. It's definitely wind-related and I suspect is wind passing around the mirror or the window frame rubbers. Any ideas? One solution might be to fit wind deflectors (though I'm not a fan of these). Anyone know a supplier of these to fit the Fabia?

    Oil

In my experience to date, the dealer price for this Castrol oil is less than Halfords - believe it or not!
  10. Proceed as follows: 1. Drip some thinners between the badge and bodywork to softent the adhesive. 2. Using fishing wire or dental floss (two or three thicknesses) tease the badge away from the bodywork. 3. Part of the sticky pad will probably be left behind, so soften this with more thinners. Remove the softened glue (a finger nail will do this without damage to the paintwork). 4. Wipe the area clean (but don't wax yet). 5. Press new badge into position. 6. Leave for a few hours to fully stick in place. 7. Wax the surrounding paintwork to remove any smudges. Job done!
  11. As demand far outstripped supply when I offered for sale one of the smaller vRS badges for the Furby hatch door, I thought you might be interested in the part number so you can order one from your friendly Skoda dealer. It is: 6Y0853687AGLAQ
  12. I want to retro-fit the dash-mounted cupholder. I've read the threads about how easy it is to fit. Unfortunately my car has heated seats so removing the switch to reveal the upper Torx screw isn't as easy as popping out the blank. Does anyone have access to a workshop manual and could look up how to remove the heated seat switch? The outer trim piece comes off easily, but the guts of the switch (including delicate tiny curcuit boards etc) seems firmly fixed in place. I don't want to break anything! Cheers.
  13. When I test drove a Furby vRS some months ago, it had remote releases for the hatch and the fuel filler (on floor by the driver's seat). My car has arrived without the release for the hatch (fuel cap release only). Are you all finding the same thing or is this a deletion for the 2004 model year?
  14. 1. Has anyone ever had a new Skoda delivered only to find an option which they'd ordered and paid for, not fitted? My dealer's phoned me to tell me my Furby vRS has arrived but though the optional 3rd rear headrest is fitted, the three point centre rear seatbelt isn't. Can I/shoud I ask for a retro-fit or reject the car (and face another 4 month's wait!)? 2. If you've de-badged your Skoda, how did you get the badge off and what did you use to remove the glue?
  15. I dealt with Robert East, Business Sales Manager - South East, Skoda Auto ([email protected]). If you live in another part of the UK, ask Skoda UK for the manager for your area.
  16. As you're after a company car, try contacting Skoda HQ fleet dept. When I was looking to repalce my co. car I did this and got a loan car for a week FOC. Delivered to my door and collected. Most manufacturers offer this service - I tried examples from Ford, Fiat, Peugeot all for a week's drive at a time. Incidentally, if you decide to wait for a new-style Octavia, ask if your existing lease on the Passat can be extended. I've been waiting for a new Fabia vRS since last October and the lease company have agreed to extend the contract until the new car arrives.
  17. Get hold of a copy of the current Fabia Accessories brochure. On page 10 there's a subwoofer shown (Part No. ABC 400 001).
  18. There is another one which hasn't been mentioned - rear centre headrest with 3-point inertia seat belt. I have a vRS on order with this (and other) options. Though it's been on order since October '03 and not a whisper of a delivery date yet...
  19. Try this link: http://www.skodapress.co.uk/skoda/index.html and click on 'Photo Bank Fabia vRS'. Also there's a shiny red one on this link: http://www.autorevue.cz/Automobilka/Ar.asp?ARI=2377&CAI=2144
  20. For piccies of your favourite vRS try these links: (click on the pic for a bigger view) For the Octy: http://www.autorevue.cz/Automobilka/Ar.asp?ARI=2028&CAI=2144 http://www.autorevue.cz/Automobilka/AR.asp?ARI=1321&CAI=2165 and for the Furby: http://www.autorevue.cz/Automobilka/Ar.asp?ARI=2377&CAI=2144 http://www.autorevue.cz/Automobilka/AR.asp?ARI=2202&CAI=2144 The text won't mean much though... Sorry if these are old hat, but I'm new to Briskoda (Furby vRS on order - expected delivery April '04!!!). Happy Christmas.
  21. Has anyone attempted replacing the 'cubby hole' in the centre of the dash (below the radio) with the push release drawer as fitted to the Fabia in Elegance spec? In a similar vein, anyone swapped the blank panels either side of the radio for the cupholders fitted in some models? If so, how easy/difficult was it? Any tips? Cheers!
  22. Want to know why the Furby vRS badge is too long? 'Cos its the same one as fitted to the Octy. 'Octavia' being two letters longer than 'Fabia' casues the vRS badge to 'overhang' on the Furby.
