  1. Done. See pics attached to this post. First picture shows the output from car freshly started without the off-road button pressed. Second picture shows the output after pressing the off road button. The lamp on the button was lit, but although VCDS said 'Activated' for the Off Road function, it still said Lamp Off.
  2. I think a good model to follow, if you have two cars in your household, is to have one car on a two year lease and for the other car, have something fairly old but relatively interesting, that's done the vast majority of its depreciation already, which you own outright. In my case that's my Volvo T5. This minimises your exposure to depreciation and gives you some continuity. In our household we could technically manage nearly all of the time with just one car, but having the second car is a great luxury and it means when our main car lease is up, we can shop around for the best deal on the next lease with much less pressure on the timing.
  3. Unlike a nav such as a Columbus where I wouldn't condone buying from Ebay due to the extremely high levels of crime, with a Bolero I'd probably just go the Ebay route. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Bolero-touch-screen-6-cd-changer-with-surround-fascia-/182210595265?hash=item2a6c9909c1:g:fv4AAOSw2zlXhVAI
  4. Here are some quick phone photos of our pretty mucky black L&K... They make the brown leather look a little lighter than it really is. It's a nicer shade in the flesh.
  5. I think petrol blue is probably the most dull, disappointing shade of blue to ever be used on a car. But yes, if you don't mind it, the brown would look OK with it.
  6. I think the brown seats look great actually. They certainly look good against the metallic black in my opinion and I think they'd be fine against moon white too. Magnetic brown would be another good option. Definitely think the car looks smaller in metallic black than it does in white.
  7. I've never had to deal with an insurance claim so it's an area I'm not too hot on. Three weeks ago my father-in-law was sat stationary in traffic on the motorway and was lightly rear ended by a van. The driver was apologetic and accepted responsibility. The damage is minor and seems to comprise a couple of ripples in the rear bumper plastic including one where the paint has cracked. The tailgate, light clusters and tow bar bracket are unscathed. Ordinarily he wouldn't do anything about it but he's only had this Tiguan a couple of weeks and is quite proud of it as it's quite an upgrade from the cars he's had before. My father-in-law and the van driver exchanged details and continued on their way. My father-in-law hasn't contacted his insurers, but keeps talking about the damage so he's clearly not going to be happy if he leaves it. The van driver seems to have contacted his insurer (AXA) despite there being no visible damage to his van as my father-in-law received a letter last week (attached to this post) from a company called Action Assistance (www.action365.co.uk) who claim to be working on behalf of AXA. There are few bad reports about this Action Assistance on Google reviews and other sites, e.g. https://www.tellows.co.uk/num/01614867770, http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1304658. Have you dealt with this sort of situation? How should I advise my father-in-law to proceed? Thanks for any advice.
  8. The good news is it's been observed on top of the rubber mat so it's not ingress behind the sound deadening / carpet.
  9. Wow, the L&K deal is ridiculous now - £400 cheaper over the 2 years than the £2190 + 23 x £159 I just signed up for (although that was a 10k / annum deal). Just do it. We got our black L&K 1.4 from Simpsons this week and it's awesome. A really good upgrade from our 14 plate Elegance.
  10. Has my old FE08 KXR ever been seen since this? I'm curious as to what happened to it.
  11. I feel a right wally. I think I missed the actual child locks on the inside of the open doors as the new car is black (old one was white) and I was looking at it in shade. As pointed out by a couple of helpful people I was actually fiddling with the emergency lock override. I must admit, I thought it was odd there were rubber bungs in them! Child locks now engaged.
  12. The child locks in our brand new Yeti don't seem to work. The ones in our 14 plate one were of the same design and worked perfectly. I checked the manual to see if there have been any changes but no, should be just the same. Upon turning the key in the child lock inside the rear edge of the rear doors, the lock just springs back to the horizontal position. Has anyone else had this problem on a recent Yeti? Could you try it for me (don't forget to take the rubber bungs out first)? One other thing I noticed is the child lock on the offside is black whereas it's white on the near side. Are yours like this?
  13. There are two outer ones and a middle. No pictures, they're just standard unmarked, unused VRS headrests so there's not a lot to illustrate.
  14. As per title, I have 3 unused Mk2 Octavia VRS rear headrests. Leather with white stitching. £10 collected from Sheffield or Leeds. I don't want to post them.
  15. Probably won't be able to afford the Tesla what with the exchange rate thanks to all the brave brexiteers.
  16. I actually arranged to pick it up slightly earlier than planned, but sadly after 2.5 hours in horrible traffic up to Lancashire today, I found it had an unsightly deep scratch in the bonnet and had to leave it at the dealership to be painted next week. In my opinion it's likely it was caused during removal of the transport plastic. Really should have been picked up in the PDI. I was already in a bad mood after the referendum result. :(
  17. Throughout my more than ten years of Skoda ownership, SUK have always made bizarre decisions and imposed weird restrictions that seem to go beyond what one would imagine VAG would care about. And they never seem to have listened to customers.
  18. Btw, why are you not using full throttle? I thought general consensus was it's best to use the full rev range from new so long as you warm it up properly first and gently running in can cause excessive oil consumption long term.
  19. Picking our 1.4 150 L&K up next week. Looking forward to the pano roof, DAB and a bit more power right now and the 4x4 and heated screen come winter. I've given up worrying about Yeti fuel economy on the motorway. That downside is outweighed by the positive qualities of the car. Our current 1.2 TSI Elegance has only been back to the dealer for two annual services, no snagging / warranty jobs and I am fussy. First car I've had zero issues with.
  20. I run an Intel NUC (poverty spec Celeron one) with a Aeotec Z-Stick USB Zwave Interface. I run Domoticz on it. Very happy with it. I've got 5 Fibaro multisensors (http://www.fibaro.com/en/the-fibaro-system/motion-sensor). These are amazing little things. I've got Yale keyfree connected locks with Z-Wave modules. I can unlock them from our phones attached to the system. I can also see reports of their state - locked / on the latch / open. Also got an Aeotec Z-Wave siren. I'm going to add another siren too. Some of my lighting, including the LEDs in my Solatube light pipes is on LightwaveRF. My Herschel FAR heating panels are also on Lightwave RF. I need to add an RFXComm to my Domoticz controller to run the Lightwave stuff. I've got some bargain 1080p DBPower C300E outdoor wi-fi cameras. The best thing I've done is attach Domoticz to Slack so I can get notified of activity in the house or the alarm going off and get stills pushed from my cameras when moton's detected. I still need to get the NUC on a UPS and add a 3G card so we can see what's happening if someone cuts the power / phone line. Until then, I just have to rely on a hint from remote ping monitoring.
  21. They also have a schedule of test drive days you can book a slot in elsewhere. There was one in Buxton not long ago. https://www.teslamotors.com/en_GB/eventsI'd also argue that it's a very high value, infrequent purchase, so a trip to a population center to see and test drive one, isn't that big a deal. Especially as people will already by that stage have informed themselves very well via the Tesla website, reviews and YouTube videos. If you made such a trip and didn't want to commit there and then, not a problem you can do the deal over the phone or Internet at a later point.
  22. The Tesla model is the way forward.
