  1. He has range to get on a 50 kW charger for maybe 30 minutes if he bothered to the next day. Or plug in that 3 pin charger for 10 hours and 'mony a mickle maks a muckle' or just all you need. There are 100+ kw chargers before he gets where he is going. PS Things have moved on in the Electric Highway that is the M1 since The MacMaster was touching cloth or that busy making videos that he could not grasp the concept.
  2. Like many utter twits yes. Like some that really need to but Guide Dogs for the stupid. But he makes a living out of it. Not as stupid as he acts then. He likes WAZE. Well fandabydozy do not use 'a better route planner' or anything like the Porsche system on the car, ignore Ultra Rapid chargers or Porsche Dealerships for charging when near any. http://abetterrouteplanner.com
  3. There are many like Davy / MacMaster that do not bother to learn anything about the cars or chargers. He was driving past Rapid & Ultra Rapid charger hubs and then expecting to get miles / range with a Taycan on a 7 kW charger. He is just part of the cashing in on EV,s with positive or negatives and he does it by pretending to be a Rodney. I might offer to take him on a proper chip shop tour. I will drive and he can pay. Lets help him pay his Lease that he has to BUY a car to vlog about.
  4. ? How many of the 5 @ Haldane Place are still in service? Nobody bothered posting comments on them on ZapMap for a year or on PlugShare for 4 years.
  5. If the number of EV chargers being switched on in the UK was to increase by 50% each year then that would be getting on with things. & a better distribution around the UK with less of a priority being given to London. http://zap-map.com/ev-stats/how-many-charging-points I would question Zap-maps publishing of statistics considering how many weeks or months it can take for them to actually show new chargers / hubs or update the sites location or tariff when being told updates are required by users that bother to let them know.
  6. Just off the A96 north of Aberdeen Airport. Blackburn beside Starbucks and a very good chippy. 'era,s only charger hub.' http://era-supercharge.com ..................................... Evyve Charger @ Dyce. They have 4 hubs in Scotland. http://evyve.co.uk .................. 2 new charger hub locations in Aberdeen and not far apart. either side of the Haudagain Roundabout. MGF @ the Esso filling station has been waiting since January 2023 to get energised by the people that do such things. (There is a MGF BP hub at the filling station @ North Esplanade West, Aberdeen, AB11 5RN) .................. The Allego one down near the excellent Chippy & i know nothing about as just spotted it, but no doubt a high tariff but just what Ultra Rapid charging EV,s requires. Muggiemoss Road. It shows as coming soon on PlugShare. http://allego.eu
  7. That was a bit WTF. Read the instructions. Used me phone to scan the thing on the letter and that linked me to 3 different kinds of things nothing to so with this card / scheme. So just googled the App and linked used the Contract number, the card number and then added payment account. I am at a NHS parking hub with a CPS charger that quite often never works. This one is free charging. Used the new card and it started first time. When I am at a CPS charger next that has a tariff I will try it. The thing is with a CPS card sometime errors means free charges because the system fails. Hand anyway and I will see how it goes and maybe more offers or reduced tariffs will come with this system for those with Motability lease cars and no home chargers. PS Tried logging into the App to get the charging details. Wrong e-mail or password. Tried 'forgot password', not a valid e-mail address. Called Motability, working a bank holiday weekend. Told him about BP Pulse, no more they can do. Told him about the new card fiasco, pilot scheme. I know a little about computers and phones and EV,s. There is a dedicated team and they will call maybe on Tuesday. I did say it is a pilot scheme one might well could expect snagging issues, So why make it so complicated for people, and why accept BP Pulse as being useless and with no excuses about snagging as they have messed up for many a year.
  8. If worried about Porsche servicing charges do not get a Porsche EV or ICE and service at Porsche Dealerships. Or maybe a Skoda Enyaq or any VW Group EV,s or if you do check the price. Then check with Nissan for a Leaf, or Renault for a Zoe, or BMW / MINI for a BMW or MINI ev. No point looking at the most expensive or the cheapest cars and them making statements as though that applies to all EV Servicing & the expense. ............... Taking the pith. 4 years servicing. £10 a month. The first service and brake fluid change is @ 24 months / 25,000 miles. (Mine might be in in about 13 months, and then Motability are paying.) Actually inspect the body and wheels before service. Clean car. If getting washed do it then, not after a service... IMO. a road test is nice, plug into the diagnostics before starting the service ICE or MINI just simply clever. Usual proper servicing and maintenance. You want the Pollen / Cabin filter inspected, location location location. But do that annually maybe. ............... Others might follow the example. & do as standard. Ask the customer about tyre rotation. Wheels always off is nice to see if they do come off easily. Really Nice, Tyres rotated, or front to back. If doing tyre pressure changes tell the customer / driver..
  9. Motability have been great. BP Pulse just hopeless. I was / am to get 3 year BP Pulse subscription. Confirmed before i got the car. BP Pulse would be in touch. Well they were not so i was with Motability who were to prompt BP Pulse and said also contact them. Repeat that 3 times, and me 3 times emailing BP Pulse saying please help. and one reply saying 'Esculated' you will get an Authorisation code, this is how to activate it,. No issue you have an Account, that can be upgraded, Radio silence, no activating code. ............ Today this from Motability. Different thing, lets see how this goes. Last ZapMap pilot i was asked to participate in i could not participate because i had an Account, could not use same e-mail or password, already a member etc etc.
  10. Yes they are normal. & expensive & it can be £1.00 a kWh. But then there was not the £60 million or more of money thrown at Grants and Loans to Charge Place Scotland in a country with a population of under 6 million to have a Public Charging system that is a postcode lottery and where some of the 32 local authorities still have Free public charging and prices are all different and so are the chargers, maintenance and availability. *Even more millions are going to SWARCO who run Charge Place Scotland at present, then who own e_volt who build chargers, and who run the maintenance for some of the local authorities as well as others with e-Volt chargers, and non e-volt chargers. All of which held back private investment in Commercial Charging and infrastructure in a country generating more electricity than gets used or sold. ........................ Non Tesla EV charging Dundee & Aviemore. Cheapness.
  11. http://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/latest-fleet-news/electric-fleet-news/2023/08/25/tesla-installs-first-v4-supercharger-to-suit-all-evs Cost to charge really matters as well as ease and the reliability. I spotted a few hubs at filling stations in Aberdeen that have been built a while but need put into operation. (Turned on!) Being 50% to 100% more expensive to run using these is not a great thing which the can be compared to maybe an efficient ICE vehicle. (One that does more than 10 miles to a litre of petrol or diesel.) I paid £10 for 13 kWh & £8 for 13 kWh because that was the only rapids i could get on. That is £18 for 26 kWh and getting 4 miles a kWh that is 104 miles. If i had managed to get an Aberdeen Council provided charger which i could not after trying 2 locations and was not going searching for any more they are 47 pence a kWh. 47 x 26 = £12.22 ................... Petrol @ supermarkets, 104 divided by 45 mph = 2.3 gallons. Aberdeen prices unleaded, 143.7 pence a litre. £6.53 a gallon, x 2.3 = £15.00 MGF @ BP charging in Aberdeen in a handy place near harbour and river Dee. 79 pence a kWh. 26 x 79 pence £20. Petrol at MFG BP Aberdeen. 149.9 pence a litre unleaded, = £6.81 a gallon, x 2.3 = £15.67, Business users will be getting vat back on their fuels. No help to private users. .......................... Dundee Council and around the area and EV charging is made so simple and the price and chargers are really about where it needs to be.
  12. @RJVB The Vredesteins are on and just the standard version not the EV ones. Good rim protection and they were used in lots ofr rain today and were very sure footed.
  13. The tyres got a good few miles today to get the newness off them and then a good try out tonight in torrential rain in Aberdeen on roundabouts and then up the A90 on roads that were flooding. They are good, and plenty rim protection, no really affect on the efficiency / range. Aberdeen Council rapids as pathetic as usual. The one at the Dry Ski Slope out of service and another single one i tried in a car park. Had to use a PodPoint 7 kW until i got on the Rapid then later an InstaVolt and a Bannantyne Health Club & Spa. Thank goodness for the reliable but expensive chargers.
  14. You need to say what you paid so that someone can pay you that.
  15. @fraz8888The thread and 5 year recommendation is about Cam Belts and the new advice is about Cam Belts. (Timing belts.) Timing chains did not have a 5 years recommendation, guidelines, specification or schedule for replacing.
  16. @lol-lolI get good discounts on Michelin or Vredetsein. The Vredesrein are better on snow than reviews indicate & the sidewalls are better than the Michelins of which i have wrecked a few. First Snow tyres i ever had new when they first came out in the UK after years of Sterling Winter Remoulds used were fitted to an automatic Mini & then i had them on a Fiat Strada 75 auto that was unstoppable. Then on various FWD auto,s over the years. It is 205/45 R 17 W 88 XL tyres as i have had the past 3 years but then had that on the Fabia or 215/40 R 17,s sometimes. I have Michelin CrossClimate SUV,s on my Shogun and they really are poor in snow. They are wide at 265 & that is from coming down from 285 wide which is the standard size.
  17. I never went with the EV version & just bought the Vredestein Quatrac Pro. (I have had them before.) Decided again Michelin CrossClimate 2 even though they were available for much cheapness.
  18. @wyx087Not dedicated, i was travelling and getting 30 minutes charge before doing another 90 mile and charging again which i did and now at 98% and ready for going where i am going. That is what travelling in an EV with a small range is about and actually going places away from home. I am not often near Tesla superchargers other than were there are CPS chargers so unless i am no point to me. Sometime i might have to use Aviemore, Tomorrow i do need charging around Aberdeen in the morning and then north & have trying to see what has been reported as faulty / out of order and i know i am just going to pay 70 pence a kWh or more and not go out of my way. **** Found a MGF forecourt with 5 rapids. 79 pence a kWh. If needs must i will use.**** PS All seasons going on in the morning before i head off tomorrow so i will see if any adverse affect on range. Last night it was pithing down and no traffic about other than lots of HGV,s ferry bound & it was nice to get sitting off the tail of one. PPS The charger at the Stabucks i have used North of Aberdeen is 70 pence a kWh but great for location and just getting on my way. ....................... http://evyve.co.uk There is one of these Evyve chargers near Aberdeen Airport which could suit me when in a hurry and i can not mess about with Aberdeen / Aberdeenshire Council chargers / hubs. Another in Dundee, but then no shortage of chargers there. & near the Porsche dealership / charger & Park and Ride, Tesla superchargers and new improved hub Broxden Perth. Taking for ever to complete.
  19. @Graham ButcherI did not mean another list about fires. We have pages of fires. It is you Report on the 50,000 + mile thing before greener. Really it matters not because we are where we are and there are some that can not see the wood for the trees. Idiots that talk about not towing EV,s (ike Brain of Britain in the first video after your post) because they generate electricity as the wheels turns seem to not be aware that would be awd EV,s as FWD or Rear Wheel drive EV,s get towed by the RAC, AA or others using a dolly with the drive wheels on it. Simple details like that are what goes right over some peoples heads. How many people can not use their common sense or pay attention to details and facts and try to get to know about the subject? PS Typing while charging for free. No idea what the source of the electricity is but there is a storage battery and solar panels on the roof and the battery at the hub might be full or taking in off peak electricity. There are council mini busses and vans charging and cars left overnight on AC chargers and i am the only one on a rapid charger. Lots of chargers, lots of charging and if one vehicle goes up it will be a sight to see.
  20. @Graham Butchercan we get another list of these reports you have read. Is this the American Cars with Electricity produced from coal. or Oil from Coal Sands or the UK / England / National grid Oil / Gas / Nuclear and renewable generated electricity. All those £0 / £30 VED vehicles were bought at the last scrappage scheme. some city cars / small capacity diesels, some long since scrapped or should be. But it boosted the Motor Trade and took in less money to the treasury in taxes but never reduced emissions really. But what could go wrong with people buying a small capacity diesel to do a few miles to the shops and back? Or a big car to use as a daily to maybe take the grand children out once in a blue moon, or to do 450 miles a few times a year.
  21. Well that is all that NHS / Social Work and other employees have got in the way of fleet cars and that is OK if there are chargers for them at work and enough places to park, and someone to get them charged for the next driver. Cars with steel wheels and poverty spec were and are often all that employees get, even if they actually cost more due to being a lack of demand for them when they go back into the motor trade.
  22. Aa well we never know what will be will be. Irony if it is a clattery diesel that gets you and not a near silent ev or e-scooter. Or the silent killer we breath in.
  23. @J.R.Is this for petrols only. because plenty vehicles with diesel engines required a change of the bags that held the liquid need to reduce emissions. Annually / 10,000 miles or sooner. The Long Life oils are not 60,000 miles plus, or the oil filters. Subaru (20,000) and Lexus (much longer service intervals) and had to change back as vehicle were going without inspection of steering, suspension, braking.
  24. In case that is missed above. Not all have the ability to CCS / DC rapid charge, like the Renault Zoe,s still being given to people for work or bought that only charge AC 22 kW. Certainly in Scotland there are lots of areas without 22 AC charging. Or if there is some with a hybrid with 3.6 kW charging might sit hours on them, or 7 kW / 11 kW max AC onboard charger cars are.
