Free EV charging @ Tesco Stores ends 1st November 2022 and price increases on 22 / 50 kW chargers.
PS, EDIT. On the charger i used to get less than 7 kWh in 60 minutes i am getting 2 kWh in 10 minutes before it cuts out. ... Location, location, location. & there are all sorts of EV drivers / passengers. Lots of people do not have Home Charging, or are not at home when away working, or on holiday or visiting. Even reps going to Tesco might charge on the 7 kW for a while, or a long while. I do not see many locally use PodPoint @ Tesco at 44 pence a kWh. Because the Public Chargers are 41 pence a kWh, up from 23 pence a kWh. There are people using them elsewhere i go around Scotland and a few here that like me plugged in for 15 minutes at a time. A lady that went shopping and parked regularly where i charged got accustomed to me restarting the charger for her on her car while i was sitting for 2 or 3 x 15 minutes. I use Aldi or Tesco PodPoint 50 kWh Chargers. Near Edinburgh Airport the Aldi Podpoint is cheaper than the CPS 50 kW chargers at the Park & Ride and more reliable, then i drive to the park and ride and charge the last 10% on a 7 kW charger while waiting anyway for an arrival. PS Winter / Cold weather and you are doing some shopping before heading someplace, plug in, heating on and car at 100% before you head off and have a reduced range. Or 7 kW when you have no option and 1 x 50 kW near and someone decides to Block that for all night, or all day and night maybe. Real world EV issues.

My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
@wyx087Obviously they can. Which is why i drove Jimnys for many years with appropriate tyres, and fit All Season Tyres or Winter tyres to anything. The Corsa Electric was perfect on the same roads even when snow or slush was on them. People that drive crap roads, or actually great roads (fun) to drive that might have been driven decades ago on cars with little power, even rallied laugh at Chelsea Tractors / AWD / 4x4,s on totally useless tyres that do no more than mount a kerb. Old bobbers get their Picanto or Micra or Jazz where 'Offroads' skitter about. Just been looking at Mud Flaps for the MINI but decided that there is going to be an issue with clogging up snow / freezing slush and kicking it off so will not bother. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/489573-winter-roads-ice-snow-and-wet-or-dry-driving-in-an-ev eg

All in warranty.
Buyer beware. Especially with 'All in' plans or just Extended Warranties with Skoda / VW Group. Get all the T&C,s and read them before committing. Also when buying Skoda, VW, SEAT, Audi Approved used cars. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/515926-leaking-engine-oilthoughts

Help required in calculating cost of battery fill up.
The XC60 is very unlikely to get 40 miles on EV power other than in ideal conditions, road and weather.

Skoda Karoq ...Reduce Oil Level warning...advice needed?
The OP only added 1 litre and maybe 1/3 rd of a litre too much. Who knows, they don't. The Cross Hatch is Area B. This is an issue. Dipsticks Area A is above the Cross Hatch with some dipsticks. On the flat bit. Some VW Group engines were 1.3 litres low before a Low Oil Warning showed and that was a 1/3 rd of the oil capacity low. A Low oil pressure warning might come on before the low oil warning Red Can light or message.

Leaking engine oil...thoughts
Sometimes actual Skoda Recall Actions outstanding are not done at dealerships. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions A car might not get Serviced if not due and just the Workshop Safety Checks, or the car arrives from another dealer / area and missed because ticked off sometime a while ago. Spit & polish. (scratch) maybe a kerbside auto's touch up and off it goes. Skoda Approved Used car. Warranty given. *Threads on Skoda Approved Cars and how pathetic some are and the excuses made in the General Automotive Chat section of BRISKODA.* Yet, You take a car in without the correct service history and Skoda / Dealers can be quick to say Warranty Voided. ..................Buyer beware, be aware. This page is often overlooked. A 'Multipoint check' does not mean the car gets a service if not due within maybe a month. Check cars finance status, insurance reported, even Skoda Management cars in accidents might never have been reported to insurers. The Recalls / TPI,s should be checked. Things slip.

Skoda Karoq ...Reduce Oil Level warning...advice needed?
@Rory Generally correct. Not when you are dealing with different engines TSI / MPI or TDI and oil capacities maybe only 2.8 litres and others 4.6 litres. Oil filter on top of engine, or oil filters down low. Anyway, easy to check with ones own cars cold, warm, hot. As long as yu know in the first place the correct quantity oil is in the engine. An Example. 2012 Main Dealership services and Techs / Fitters not aware of the change of 1.2 TSI's from the 3.6 litres to 3.9 litres. (Worse still some never noticed it was different filters used.) CAVE / CTHE 1.4 TSI should never have been only 3.6 litres and i put in 3.9 or 4 litres..

Skoda Karoq ...Reduce Oil Level warning...advice needed?
@Sanqhar The point about a few minutes is that all the oil is not back down. If you want it all down dip the oil cold. Just try again your cold level, your hot /operating temp after a few minutes, then the after 15 minutes. Are the levels different. Highest level is cold. Only VW 1.2 44 kW engines with 2.8 litres oil are cold checked. ............ Note the bottom instructions and read 'Caution' The issue with servicing and oil checks is Skoda said WARM, and VW, SEAT, AUDI said HOT or Operating Temperature or Normal Operating temperature. That is above 80 *oC, 90 *oC. Too many DIY, Techs, Mechanics get it wrong straight from an Oil & Filter service and underfill with just Cold Checks, or a bit warmed up.

Skoda Karoq ...Reduce Oil Level warning...advice needed?
a syringe with a piece of pipe will also get the oil out of the engine via the dip stick tube. Slowly depending on syringe size. (Dont drop the pipe off the end of the syringe and down the dip stick pipe by mistake.) Like using a Oil change vacuum pump. To save taking out the sump plug. Oil level checks are done at Normal Operating temp, once you know enough oil in when cold. We / i might say safe for another 100 km, but not our cars. *The Low oil or low oil pressure light does not come on for 100 Km after you open the bonnet.* The reduce oil message might not come on for 100 Km after opening the bonnet.

Off-road mode for 2WD?
& where there is offroad mode with AWD,s it softens the accelerator and others stuff so it is an engine management thing, but then there is Haldex to help things and if offroad it is about tyres, and not clogged with mud, but then on road it is about tyres and grip also. A FWD on the right tyres can out perform a AWD or part time AWD on the totally wrong tyres. Like the VW Group (4x4,s) AWD,s usually come from the factory with.

Help required in calculating cost of battery fill up.
ZapMap & Plugshare are not always up to date on the Tariffs at chargers that you can pay with your CPS Account or other providers. http://chargeplacescotland.org Home standard tariff. @ 30 pence a kWh x 18 kWh = £5.40 Offpeak @ 7 pence. x 18 kWh = £1.26 Tesco Podpoint 7 kW AC charger is 44 pence a kWh Lidl Podpoint 7 kW AC is 40 pence a kWh. £7.20. A gallon of fuel is cheaper. Some public chargers, East or South Ayrshire & elsewhere Free or 16 - 41 pence. (41 pence Angus Council.) Charge Place Scotland if you want a Card and not just use the App is £12. http://chargeplacescotland.org/charge-point-tariffs Post Code Lottery as to tariffs but the Hybrid just needs on a 7 / 11 kW AC charger (Called Fast but not fast). Lower Tariffs usually compared to AC 43 or 50-150 DC Rapid charging. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, There are BP Pulse chargers like at Edinburgh City Park and rides, but these are Edinburgh City Tariffs on 50 kw Rapids and 55 pence a kWh. But then that is a max 1 hour charge time. Use CPS card or App, or Credit card or Debit card, more reliable. A Hybrid / PHEV or BEV can go on the 7 kW AC chargers for 12 hours and it is 35 pence a kWh. This is the same lots of places in Scotland, you are not paying the BP Pulse price but the provider / local authorities price so someplaces Free charging on 7 kW or 50 kW chargers.

Strange rear traction noise/reasoning when turn
No the Haldex service, oil change and filter clean is not the Rear Differential. The Diff oil might be a good idea to change maybe in 8 years or so. Haldex @. 30,000 miles / 3 years or sooner. Diff if launching boats, using off-road etc serviced according to use. Haldex gets done even if never off-road or wading or even used in the rain.

Battery range on full charge
Distance / Speed / Ambient Temperature, air and road surface / Load in the car / Tyre pressures. The range will drop as the weather gets colder.

Leaking engine oil...thoughts
They took in the car, they checked the Service History & they as in Skoda Specialist Cars Dundee then sold it as a Skoda Approved Car and put a Skoda Warranty on it. Now they do this as a job, and the customers pay a premium buying Skoda, VW, SEAT or Audi Approved cars for peace of mind. I try to remind them of that at every opportunity just to keep them on their toes. If customers want crap Customer Services they have AC, Parks, Vardy or a few others to go to. Or MOTORCHOICE (JC Select) part of John Clark Motor group and where they can maybe punt the questionable service history cars, and if you have an issue find it hard to get hold of the salesperson you dealt with.

Leaking engine oil...thoughts
I think John Clark Motor Group will see the 'Simply Clever'' way to deal with this. I have had great experiences as a customer and with mates working for them. As it is it is Hawco that has to be questioned about how they dealt with the matter since the Car was Skoda Approved with a Warranty to claim against. @VRS245Grey How or where did you buy the 'All in plan', online or at a dealership and was there any inspection carried out as part of it? What is the 'Full Main Dealer Service History',. and any Recall or Warranty History, and has the car been serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines, Recommendations or specification. Has the Brake Fluid been changed, the VAQ diff serviced and anything else other than Oil & Inspection Services & Extended Scope done?

My 2023 MINI Cooper S Level 3 Electric leased from Motability which will be with me for 3 years & now a 2021 MG5 as a dog wagon.
Loving the car. The biggest issue was the Arm Rest which needed putting up to fasten the seat belt because on right hand driver there is a pattern on the side like a cheese grater. That has tape covering it not as a 'hack' while my knuckles heal. The All Season tyres are going on Friday next week. The OEM Goodyear Eagle F1 are total ditch finders in the damp, in the wet or even on tight corners in the dry. The chassis and TC on or off is as it should be and the tyres can grip and go, but when they let go they really do. I was early out on flooded roads then across a couple of very steep roads, up and down and it was wheel spin going up or power cut. Really they are not fast roads as narrow and you can meet anything on them, vehicles, people, (on bikes coming down) or wild life, lots of them big or small.

the truth about electric cars
We will see how Norway gets on with the ban on buying new Petrol or Diesel cars in 2025. As for Australia they are a special case, do what they want or do not want but there must be plenty cars that are in cities and only in cities. Just like in Europe or the UK. Head for thinking, what a shame there are those about without the ability to use common sense or listen to those that work with stuff and know what they are talking about..

Leaking engine oil...thoughts
@VRS245Grey So 'Skoda' or the Claims Manager refused the 'All in Warranty' claim. Is there something in writing that 'Hawco' acting as your agent made a Warranty Claim under your Used Car Warranty and that was refused also? Or were you told by Skoda or the Claims manager.

Octavia VRS TSI clunking sound.
Only 'normal' with the noisy ones. Did they have an abnormally non clunky one for you to roadtest? What is normal is they either 'all do that' or 'never heard of that before'.

New Karoq ordered
- the truth about electric cars
Personally i think Performance cars should be taxed off the roads on the UK. Now with EV's and any new car even ICE,s the GPS can identify if on the public road and if exceeding 20% over the Speed Limit for the road it is on and NIP's could be sent automatically, as driving Fat / Wide Cars into congested areas, illegal parking etc. Speed limiters roadside would work well, but then ANPR goes not do its job properly. If the cars were chipped or legally insured and tested cars had ID Stickers on Screens or registration plates they could be immobilised at Filling Station / Charging Hubs, car parks etc. Big brother is coming and maybe in our lifetime. PS. First the 'Noise Cameras'. For reducing the 'Anti Social behaviour'. Maybe the stupid Abarth EV would fail.- Leaking engine oil...thoughts
@VRS245GreySorry but i do not understand what you mean. But maybe neither did the person. Skoda Approved used car and the Warranty is there in the T&C's. Like Judge Judy says ' within the 4 corners of the page'. Same goes with the 2nd Warrant / Insurance policy sold to you by whoever sold it to you. The T&C,s is what matters and what you were shown. Used Car Warranty. & All in Skoda Warranty. VWFS_11815379_SKODA_AUW_Booklet_0922E.pdf- My winter tyres are turning 10 this year
@RJVBSince they do ones it just makes sense to use them. They are low profile. 205/45 R 17 W88 XL & £505 fitted / balanced. The last EV had Michelin Alpin 6 on but i wrecked a couple and they were not 'much cheapness'.- the truth about electric cars
I watched them when the bell rang in the corner of my youtube and before they were posted on here by me or someone else. I link his vids all the time. I am happy to listen to all sides on the negative and positives of EV,s because i have been interested for years now on them and on e-bikes. Its one of those things, look at it from all angles and take journalists, spin doctors, politicians and anyone with a vested interest with a pinch of sodium (Na) and chloride (Cl) Then as to sea water and lithium batteries i will try to keep the 2 things well apart. I do like an EV for use on flooded roads though and have waded through great big puddles quite a lot. Also driven the snowy roads that are gritted / salted. EV,s are good for such things. - the truth about electric cars
