  1. Full disclosure / declaration of I am alright jack. Charging for the 3rd time for free today. Motability lease car. VED exemption regardless of an EV or ICE. Hundreds of thousands like me in the UK are also VED exempt. Motability are purchasing many EV,s and ICE annually but many more are EV,s these days. Maybe changes coming with all that in the future.
  2. VW say and do many things but one they do not is have enough faith in their products to put a proper lenghth of warranty other than in the likes of Australia. Maybe a few other world regions. That is because they messed up there in the past and are called out for it. There are some cracking cars and drive trains they build and some lemons. Snagging faults go uncorrected for a full production generation and that can get passed on to the next. Even with new models. Eg. Look at the Karoq as an example of cars leaking as bad as mk1 Fabias have from launch decades back.
  3. Good. A pity it can not be simple and the tax charged at the point of first registration and to cover a 12 year life of a vehicle. Priced not by cars RRP,. But by size, weight, efficiency or not. Recycled materials used in the manufacturing etc. After that the VAT on electric covers things.
  4. Just to clear on my part. There are times and places and reason for using premium products, components, and the best of stuff. Here we are talking VW small engines in road cars. Not racing, rallying or used in extreme conditions. It is nice to run vehicles for a long time and I keep ones for many years when i like them. Ok want them to last. Sometimes well over a decade. But that does not mean paying more than needs must for consumables. When I need performance oils, parts, fuels, or short service intervals I spend spend spend.
  5. @OHOHWHATSGOINGON Can you post the Registration Number and the seller to warn others. The car needed the fault diagnosed correctly by a VW Group technician, mechanic or who ever has all the gear and more than ideas. The car is unsafe and not of merchantable quality. The sellers are going to have to have competent people diagnose and repair. UNLESS TOTAL COWBOYS. ???? How many miles on the car and has it had the required servicing including to the gearbox if over 40,000 miles. Was there a Service History and any warranty work history?
  6. The price of Engine Oil in the UK means nothing concerning Quality. If you buy VW 502 00 spec from ASDA, TESCO, Home Bargains, B&M for half the price of Castrol from someplace else you are not getting something like 'Super market' own brand beans. Proper Oil manufacturers produce the oil and it is put in containers. Castrol costing more than Quantum or Fuchs, or maybe even Mobile, Shell might be no better than from COMMA or the Supermarket shelves. Fuchs the producers of the Quantum oil range are in partnership are the supplier of Oil to VW Group Dealerships in the UK.
  7. @9,400 miles / 12 months or sooner if you want will be fine for Oil & Filter changes. You will be resetting the Service indicator if the car is already set on Fixed Servicing. If on Variable / flexible then maybe you need A N Other to do that. http://volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-drivers/servicing/service-plans/service-schedules.html
  8. That is the kind of crap you get with Scotland biggest car dealership group. Skoda Approved Cars with only one key are not priced as ones with 2 keys. Or should not be. Talk with the Dealer Principle. Suggest they get with it. They surely paid cheaply buying in a car with only one key.
  9. @ReekyAre there filling stations in the UK that you can buy crap diesel at, or do you need to go to some trading estate or farm or across to Ireland to buy it from some dodgy geezers?
  10. My favourite Almera's.
  11. 0w 16 would very likely have been VW's default position if they had not got the WLTP / RDE2 results and certification, Vorsprung durch technik, do what you have to do to keep flogging cars, finance / loans and stay in business, if the products just have a short life then worry about that later, spend on Media / Advertising / Spin and lawyers more than on Engineering & R&D.
  12. Welcome. The SUV's that are AWD will have different DSG's (auto boxes) from FWD SUV's. There are just the Karoq or Kodiaq's being built, or the Yeti's they stopped building. Then there is the Enyaq EV which is a 2 pedal car. The Kamiq is not really a SUV but seems to be sold as such. FWD only and with a DQ200 as the only DSG fitted.
  13. Welcome. An idea on servicing intervals. (Your DQ200 DSG does not require servicing / oil changes though.)
  14. @TSiTorque The not using Long Life Oil in TSI engine keepers is my ridiculous belief based on VW Groups history of some euro 5 emissions and lass than long lives. The premature demise and oil use of some not that old or high mile engines. Their denial over the past decade. But they build and sell millions on the 1.2, 1.4, 1.8 and 2.0 tsi's that only a small percentage of failed, and that is overblown on social media. 'They say'. So use what they recommend as they were the biggest car manufacturer in the world of cars. Never cheated, never lied, never got caught and did not lose that spot. If everything in the world was as reliable as a Volkswagen we would be right in the sh-it. Why have VW Group some of the highest number of engine failures out of warranty compared to even French or Japanees, North Korean engine manufacturers. Is it they use and recommend other oils, consumables, or just use better materials / components, engineers, manufacturing, software / engine management and if they get things wrong they deal with it and produce better products. Vorsprung durch technik. NEIN!
  15. Try a bit of internet searching including on Briskoda. People try and manage all sorts. Different Generations/ years, http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/488866-handbrake-turns-in-th-snow http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/324618-haldex-4-upgrades http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/144721-haldex-longevity-and-tuning http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/487343-dsa-haldex-controller-for-superb-iii-awd
  16. Re the Bodtwork anti-corrosion /perforation warranty. There used to be a service book and after service pages the Body Inspection report page. So up to around 2012/13 in the UK. Minor and major services and supposedly a bi-annual inspection for damage, repairs, rust. That was the MAJOR Service, which was an INSPECTION SERVICE'. Then that went on hand held devices, and then Skoda started saying people making claims had not had regular body checks. Even though that is part on Minor or Major, interim or major services at main dealers. Actually you ask what the Terms & Conditions are on Regular, or bi-annual, or at 3 years and then each 2 year. Silence comes the answer. That is not i the Warranty T&C's. Then there is why are the Body checks and reports not being done yet Skoda have that on their websites, Servicing & Maintenance, http://theguardian.com/money/2022/apr/20/skodas-refusal-to-honour-warranty-staggers-legal-experts http://theguardian.com/money/2022/jul/13/why-didnt-skoda-make-its-fabia-warranty-terms-clear Make sure they print out their employee's 'Inspection and condition report' of the body, glass etc they carried out. You paid for it. Well it appears it is part and parcel of Main Dealers Servicing.
  17. 'cheap' is price. Cheap might be costs less so not as expensive. They are not necessarily crap, or ditch finder compared to something that costs more. Actually morr expensive stuff can be on offer and become cheap.
  18. Welcome to the forum. The Kodiaqs available are the 1.5 TSI DSG SE Drive & the SE L Executive. Or are others available at present from Motability?
  19. Some dealerships or the staff at are rather lacking in getting with why customers pay a premium to buy an Approved Used car. Plenty threads on that subject in the General Automotive Chat section. https://customer.vwfs.co.uk/approved-used-vehicles/skoda-approved-used.html
  20. Maybe those aware of being locked in need to think now that if sitting in traffic and having a heart attack they need to consider pulling the door handle as it happens. Those in a car and not wanting robbed / hi-jacked will be happy the doors can not be opened by horrible nasty people.
  21. Welcome. If the car is in an accident the doors will unlock. As to first responders getting to a vehicle with a locked doors. They will be putting the glass in very easily with the little glass smashing hammer they have.
  22. @Phil82. Is it not a Skoda Approved Used car,. Just a Used Skoda from a Skoda dealership? How much did you pay for a Warranty and have you not been given a copy of the T&c,s? All basic stuff. Sales, financial stuff like selling a warranty which is insurance. Warranties they earn commission selling. The other thing is prep and servicing pre sales. All on record as they pay tax on profits so need to have everything costed.
  23. I think this was the first thread on Briskoda with an issue possibly GPF related. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/479195-car-behaving-strangely
  24. @Phil82 I would chil about the DSG, DQ200 DSG's are not having issues fitted to 1.0TSI's. So fingers crossed, but, BE SURE TO BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT COVERS THE DSG when that time comes. As things are 1.0TSI's with a GPF from 2018 on are getting older and the GPF is more likely to become an issue and require replacing. Fingers crossed. That was what VW Group did, crossed their fingers. Fit and forget and leave any hassle to the owners when the warranties have expired. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/508126-mk3-sudden-high-idle-problem http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/479195-car-behaving-strangely ****That was some penny pinching to remove 3 spark plugs to inspect them yet not just put in new ones in a 4 year old car.**** Cheeky / greedy barstewards. IMO. @27,000 miles / 4 years they should have changed them so that the car was serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines or even Schedule. (Schedule being a term Skoda / VW used to not use.)
  25. Lots of dealers use 0w 30 FS III oil, that is VW504 00. It is Long Life Oil for Variable / flexible servicing or Fixed. It is not VW502 00. (5w 40 FS to VW502 00 will do the MPI just fine, and VW 504 00 will likely as well. but that is another thread on here.) ** I would just not use the Long Life oil on any pre GPF TSI i had as a keeper** Certainly not 0w 20 FS IV / VW508 00.
