@zice The SuperCharger network & Public Charging networks and those travelling longer distances and needing several charges a day is a very different thing from those that might just need to charge once a week and can maybe do that at home. The trial of opening up the SuperCharger network in the UK to non Tesla drivers makes absolute sense. In Scotland (Aviemore is hopefless for Public Chargers other than TeslaSuperCharging) where there are some areas with Free Charging i will happily pay to go on a Tesla SuperCharger to get on my way where Teslas are parked charging for hours getting a Free charge on the Charge Place Scotland chargers and blocking those that want a quick charge.
  2. Good when it is explained that way. But a service @ 3 years is just an Oil & Inspection Service with extended scope and should not be £299. But then if they are going to be including the Brake Fluid change it could be, but still a ridiculous price. The 2nd year service is not required if the car is just left on Variable / Flexible servicing and not changed to Fixed Servicing.
  3. Any car forum with Skoda enthusiasts might be a good place. The For Sale section of Briskoda being a good choice. A small fee to advertise and people might easily be able ask questions about what you have etc if looking for your type of car.
  4. @r0b3rtRe the No Claims. Insurers often allow the NCB to sit for 2 years without you having a policy in place. You do not need to have a policy running always to keep the NCB. (Those that have a Motability car might be fine getting the NCB still after 3 years of having not held their own policy.)
  5. They can be. I can not give an answer for what you have not seen. I have worked prepping new cars, doing fitting of dealership options and doing Transit damage repairs. They are reset when taken out of In Transit mode, then you get to see the delivery miles that then go on from the PDI. Cars can come off a transporter in Edinburgh and get driven to a dealership in Glasgow on trade plates then be set to 0 miles and then the Warranty Starts, the car gets handed over with 7 miles, 10 miles, maybe 15 miles showing. Set to Zero, take for some fuel and do the road test and hand it over.
  6. Do not then, negotiate a better purchase price. Many sign up for finance, get a 2nd year warranty and 2 services, then very quickly settle the finance and keep the 'incentives'. The Sales People / Dealership are unhappy. What are are the 2 services, 2 Fixed Oil & Inspection Services? If you think this is worth it then fine, that is if all is done at the time due. So if that is at 3 years are you paying for extras like brake fluid, or at 4 years spark plugs, or is that all in?
  7. A Major issue is that they need to meet the required Average Co2 emissions in the EU and in the UK so as not to face huge penalties and they need to produce enough low emission ones because even using the kidology of pooling with EV producers is going a bit t!ts up as even their production is affected. If the wrong vehicles are released and registered then they do have financial issues of millions in fines. http://www.thedriven.io/2021/12/14/nio-and-xpeng-join-carbon-pool-to-help-vw-meet-eu-emissions-target
  8. Greenergy part owned by Tesco are partners with Royal Dutch Shell for importing and storing base fuels & Greenery produce and distribute Tesco Momentum 99, some of the ESSO fuel to areas of the UK, and fuel for Independents. Fuels have all the additives needed. You are not running crappy old engines. Too much detergents in oil, then in fuel and then bore wash and such. Long Life oil type crap is not needed, use good oil, change it regularly and run the higher octane and run engines up to temp because short cold start running is the problem. When you buy Motorsport fuels like Hiperflo 250 which is 102 ron then what you are buying is the fuel without the crap. Maybe double the price and worth every penny for fun days and high days. 100+ /102 ron pump fuel on Continental Europe is a real bargain. https://vitalequipment.co.uk/collections/carless-hiperflo
  9. It will have miles /km on the clock just now and the car is in 'In transit' mode and the Miles / Km will be reset to 0 and then will be handed over with 'Delivery miles' which is not how many miles it might have driven or the engine has been running for.
  10. Lots of generalising going on here. There are TDI's and DSG's that cut the engine before you actually get to a holt and without the brake pedal being pushed. But then there are different sizes of TSI engines 1.0, 1.4, 1.5, 2.0 and mild hybrids and plug ins and different DSG's as in dry or wet clutch. Plenty drive various types and adjust to how they behave and can just press the Stop / Start button as and when the location suits, or know how to just feather the accelerator coming to a halt and not have the engine stop before coming to a stop. Before actually touch the brake pedal and having the engine cut and have autohold on or not.
  11. @EnterName It is not only winter grade diesel you get in the UK. UK Petrol comes in Summer & Winter Spec and it is first delivered in winter late October in Scotland and the North of England until the end March. It is less hygroscopic. and has a different formulation. Sometime imported winter grade petrol comes into the UK later into the year than it does on Continental Europe. Is this high altitude in other world regions as getting more than 3,000 feet above sea level in the UK is difficult. Always a good idea to know what fuels are and from where. The 95 ron E10 is a minimum 95. & 97 or 99 is also the Minimum Number and what has been imported might be a higher octane, then there is winter spec. You might find some Winter Spec that comes into the UK is from Continental Europe already formulated and can be 100 ron (or even plus). Then the ethanol content might be as much as 5% and might not be. (Personally i want the Ethanol for a TSI.)
  12. A still wet Tea Bag (having made tea) put on the bird poo does a good job of softening it before using warm water to flush off the poo before doing a clean up.
  13. There is no requirement for a warranty in the UK to stay valid that a Main Dealership is being paid £215 or however much they are charging. Just that it is carried out using the correct fluid and parts (filter in this case) & that is understood in the UK to be a VAT registered place, but that is not in the T&C's. The Issue with VAQ diffs, Haldex & DSG's is that some dealerships employees do not know their arse from elbow and do servicing as they should and as an Independent VW Specialist might. They are often Ex VW Group trained Master Techs that care about customers much more than their ex employers did.
  14. @timster Indeed as you say. & they need to get those cars built many months ago shifted & first registered. Sitting there with some diesel / AdBlue or petrol in them. Brake Fluid and oil and the cars getting older by the day and bringing no money back into the VW Group. Prices should certainly not go up because of the market and inflation the price should drop.
  15. @Theo5 In the World of VW /Skoda / SEAT / AUDI UK Customer Services that was contracted out and certainly is not better for that.
  16. @EnterName Are those figures they are giving as might be achieved with the use of E5 97 or 99 ron Super Unleaded rather than E10 95 ron Unleaded? Are some still showing them with 98 Ron Super Unleaded which has not been on sale for yonks in the UK?
  17. Her on GB News was just at it as that is how she makes a living. The crazies earning their living being Anti go on about other Continents or World Regions when going on about EV's in the UK. Even comparing Scotland with England for the generating of electricity is skewed. More battery storage at the Charging Hubs is essential & at Solar & Wind Farm localities & less of the co that is the National Grid in the UK. If Coal & Gas and Nuclear generation is required in localised areas of the UK because they have no or little renewbles then the cost of the tariffs should be higher there and not highest where the electricity production and emissions are lower.
  18. An idea is to ask if the dealer principal / manager is in and can you have a word. You can tell them that proper servicing and maintenance and trusting places is an issue and can they assure you the Master Tech is on the ball and they properly supervise fitters or apprentices that might work on your car. It might offend them but then they have a nice demonstrator and a suit and the customers keep them in their lifestyle.
  19. They are working and need to get rid of MY22 vehicles already built and that were unfinished before they start turning out MY23 cars and selling them. Even if production and finishing is reduced by 2 3rds that still means there are cars leaving the facilities.
  20. If you really can not trust a place and think they will defraud you of money then best not use them.
  21. @DutyPaid Who remapped the Engine & DSG and is this to Stage 1, and have you no other hardware upgrades yet?
  22. That will depend on someone have been putting it onto the Skoda system then if there is no hard copy. Skoda / Skoda Dealers can tell you what is on their system.
  23. A used Yeti could easily have first been owned by Motability & then have been owned by a fleet/ local authority, highways agency etc. ? Who was the last Registered keeper, is it a private home address or a business.
  24. ? How many former keepers has the car. Has it stayed registered to only 1?
