  1. The OP & others in the UK / Scotland will be running on E10 95 ron, that is unless they use E5 97 / 99 ron Minimum. From October / November to April that was Winter Spec Petrol. Then being in Scotland / areas of Scotland that could be a different formulation than in other parts of the UK let alone other World / Global areas. Handy when people saying what MPG / or efficiency or not they get what actual petrol octane they actually run with. (No retailers sell 98 ron (minimum) super unleaded in the UK anymore.)
  2. I just know about with the Fabia Mk3 & the Service Campaign actions. Pinned thread top of Fabia Mk3 section. Coolant replaced and water pump failures. A pal from Hamiltons DIL's 1.4 TDI / DSG was a disaster and needed punted at a big loss. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/426322-recall-on-diesel-cooling-issue/page/5 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/444899-14-diesel-be-dropped Someone will tell you about Rapids when a mod moves to the Rapid section, i flagged it for them. All the best with things. I would get shot and count yourself lucky. As for West End Edinburgh , shame on them. They need to get a grip.
  3. Welcome. Someone will be along to help. is this a 1.4 TDI with a known Coolant issue and TPI's covering that? Then the known, Place vehicle in P issue. So is this a Skoda Approved Used car with a 12 month warranty. From which of Scotland's useless Dealership groups have you bought it. If car is not fit for purpose and they can not have it so then you have your consumer protection, best get shot of the lemon. Reject it.
  4. So that is not right. Parking lights should be on when the car is parked, keys out of ignition and car locked. Parked where there are no Street Lights.
  5. Are they brighter than just Sidelights are, so actually DRL's. If you turn off the car and put the indicator stalk to the right or to the left (down or up) do you then get the 'Parking Lights' on, One front and one rear sidelight on? A grown up that under stands electricery will be along. @Pete_Ex-Wino or @UrbanPanzer maybe.
  6. Does your car even come with & have 'Day Time / Day Light Running lights', is it not just that your Side Light / Position lights & Registration plate lights come on all the time? Maybe somebody changed them to work that way.
  7. We will see just what the New Elroq EV is like and hopefully practicality has priority over stylee. Then i do hope Skoda are going to be having a smaller EV of the type of a CitiGo iV / Mii Electric / e-Up!
  8. It is indeed supposed to cover that. For those running a petrol or diesel there is nobody saying come around the back and get a free tank full, it is nice though where someone provides a plug in for the EV driver and says there you go and charge up free gratis.
  9. Try every way which way you can yourself in a 1.0 TSI DSG without Coasting mode. I would not worry about getting the turbo spinning and the car producing the power it was designed to efficiently. Hypermiling comes naturally to some, and needs worked at for others, and then location, location, location and weather and load in the car all makes a big difference. https://hypermiler.co.uk/hypermiling/hypermiling-techniques
  10. A Briskoda member and Skoda driver. I like to support him and maybe others can subscribe.
  11. ^^^ Very true. People think that the survey that is not contributed to by many means something and they even pay attention to it. The Media will not stop Manufacturers turning out cars with faulty Software and in some cases not fit for purpose because the manufacturers have not bothered as long as they get them sold and can maybe fix later will continue. The resale values will not be affected because of the media and the used car sales industry. A sales person ignores faults that are common knowledge because they can not say that a car is '****e' so offer a low purchase / trade in price and then tell a buyer it is a scarce as hens teeth in this spec and in high demand and you have to pay a premium to buy it. Haymarket Media Group that Lord Michael Hesletine owns has What Car / Autocar and they are not going to bad mouth the VW Group who are a major customer. Then Hey Car is owned by VW & Daimler and Hey Car owns 'Honest John'. Even Sponsored Vids should mention 'Glitches' or issues that owners might be having. But then will a publisher risk the Goose that lays the golden eggs'. Independent reviewers do a good job offering their views and opinions. 40,000 miles on the Haldex, so you need to remember that vloggers / reviewers can talk nonsense.
  12. Cost of purchase / lease and running very much depends on what is being driven. The cost of fuel for just a single workers miles in a vehicle has been generous for a long time for some. Even at £100 to fill a tank of 'An average family car' as is spoken about that should get that car that 1 person is trucking about in 450 - 500 miles if they have given thought to driving an economic car. As to an EV, if it gets 3 miles to a kWh and the electric is 50 pence a kWh then that is £83 for 500 miles. 40 pence a kWh is £66 for that 500 miles. 4 miles per kWh @ 40 pence a kWh for 500 miles £50.
  13. Simply ask the question of the salesperson, because if asked they need to tell you if they know, and they bought the car so should know. Send them in an email and get a reply in writing. Ask them to print out the cars service history and send it now before you collect the car. Tomorrow will do.. How many previous registered keepers, Do they know the cars history, first registration / registered keeper. VW Finance or whatever. has the car been in an accident and repaired. Has there been any warranty work required on the car or any service campaign / recall actions. *Not just written off you want to know about. But then they would not knowingly buy a write off. (well you might think that.) they need to tell you is there anything on the system of body repairs to factory standard so that the paint and corrosion warranty is valid. Even this small roof repair should show on the system as services include body inspections.
  14. @Sheplobsters Maybe a demonstrator when new, but not at near 2 years old. It could have been a Fleet / Lease car, a Courtesy car, loaned to NHS etc during covid, or a Motability lease etc etc, or just a car on PCP. So if it was on Fixed servicing it was due in September 2021, and then again now. Or maybe if on Variable / Flexible servicing this might be it's first service. So an Oil & Inspection service and the pollen filter changed is what it gets. Now it will be put on Fixed Servicing for the 2 services you are getting with the PCP deal. Those are @ 12 months / 9,400 miles what ever comes soonest.
  15. @DutyPaid It is just a case of finding someone that was just like you and prepared to buy a modified Mk2 vRS Fabia estate and more modified than when you got it a short while ago. Usually the issue is persuading them if they know about twinchargers that it is a good one and you have not bought an oil user and moving it on again quickly. ? How much do you want for it if you are selling?
  16. @Sheplobsters Tell us about the car please. ? When was it first registered and how many miles has it done? I am asking this just to get an idea what 'Servicing' the car might be getting before you get it. ? So is this on a PCP deal giving the remainder of the 3 year manufacturers warranty or 2 years & 2 services?
  17. @SheplobstersDid you not ask the Dealer Principal for a Courtesy car / Dealership Demonstrator / Sales Managers daily driver until they have your car as it should be handed over which is in perfect condition. ? Is the car you are getting a Skoda Ex Demonstrator that has been brought in from someplace other than where you are buying it? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/501940-advice-for-a-first-time-skoda-buyer
  18. So this is the platform / base for the small Skoda / VW / Audi EV's.
  19. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504373-ea-189-dieselgate-payout £1,700. Money for nothing very much other than joining in on the gravy train. That should be what is going as a minimum on each vehicle to the UK Treasury for money that never came in with VED or tax / duty on fuel with diesels getting good economy as they polluted more than the kidology showed they were doing.
  20. @Niamh You drive one, how far does a full battery take you if the engine is not firing up? If you get 3.8 miles per kWh from 13 kW battery then that is 49 miles you are getting. ? If you go 100 miles starting with a full battery and a brimmed tank how many litres are needed to brim the tank again.? ........................ I drive a small but still heavy BEV and it has a 45 kW usable battery and i get generally 3 miles to a kWh,. 3 x 45 = 135 miles. When i get 4 miles per kWh that is 180 miles. Winter time doing 2 miles 6 times a day i might get 2 miles per kWh. If i got 16.2 kWh / 100 km, so the 3.8 miles per kWh from the 45 kW battery then that would be 171 miles.
  21. If 1 kWh of electric takes you 2.5 miles so 10 kWh takes you 25 miles and costs 10 x 69 pence, £6.90 then 50 mile would be £13.80. A Petrol of Diesel that does 45-50 mpg or better is cheaper than running just on expensive electricity. Maybe just run the car without charging so paying 69 pence a kWh.
  22. This is getting pretty common now, only 1 public rapid charger or the cheapest rapid charger in an area and commercial EV vans with bigger batteries needing to sit a good while to charge or sitting having a break and charging. I suppose it is too much to expect an Energy Company to have their drivers go and pay more at an InstaVolt charging station. that the general public swerve. (Including me when there is 'much cheapness or cheaper available.)
  23. How busy are their chargers then? Is that then giving free parking and not time limit on a charger or is there a penalty? Edit. Ps. Now looked at the Dragon Site. So chargers in Wales. Crazy pricing like Ionity.
