  1. I really can not believe how many EV drivers will pull into the likes of a supermarket car park with EV charging bays and park and not charge. Like the Muppet that arrived the same time as me and is off shopping and not charging. There is only me in charging at present in the 4 bays but it normally gets busier and when it does I move away and let others get a charger.

  3. @Lady ElanoreYou maybe need to widen your social circle or contacts to those that go play about in EV's and are not going any particular place for any particular purpose other than fun. Hit it north and onto the Snow roads of the North East of Scotland and experience drivers out for a thrash in their EV's. Are these EV drivers you know really giving it laldy driving about on roads any more than other drivers are and going at speeds that much higher than the NSL's? Keeping ones license matters to many who's employment relies on it. https://news.stv.tv/highlands-islands/police-ramp-up-north-coast-500-patrols-in-crackdown-on-speeding-drivers Even people with loads of money & toys can see the benefit of an EV for getting to work that is saving them in paying taxes and when they want can just be a play thing that they take for a blast for a few hundred miles if even that and that is not costing much in fuel if anything. They can be a total PITA though if you have lots of miles to do and you would rather splash the cash and not mess about at chargers, trying to get chargers etc.
  4. Maybe a Mod can lock this thread as there are replies in your other one. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504757-which-spacers-for-my-280 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/493523-wheel-spacers http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/497547-wheel-spacer-opinions http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/479920-spacer-advice
  5. @jorgo_4 Welcome to the Forum. What Wheels / Tyres does you Kodiaq have on now? Are you wanting someone to say that they fitted Snow Chains to bigger wheels and tyres and drove on snow and there were no clearance issues? Maybe just buy the appropriate wheels / tyres for fitting Snow Chains if the car does not have them fitted now. Are the 3rd party people you are contacting sellers of wheels, alloy or steel? Was that Skoda Australia or a Dealership employee at a dealership that have to make a story about asking Skoda CZ about wheels / tyres and snow chains? If they do not know about the vehicles they sell then sending an E-mails or making a phone call seems like a 'simply clever' idea. Maybe Volkswagen Australia or a VW Dealer will be interested in selling you a suitable set of wheels for using with Snow Chains having done so over the years.
  6. There was no issue, and then VW Group were not ready for the WLTP & RDE 2 and had to get Certification to be able to get the cars turned out so they were fine for the tests just not for on the road. Tweak the software and if the car runs like crap then not all will complain. Say never heard of that, then it is a characteristic, they all do that, (except those that do not.) but important is first deny any issue for months. Just as has happened with The IT Software more recently. they turn out the vehicles and bring in the money and they might eventually see that the cars are fit for purpose. That is the VW way. This fundamental Design or Manufacturing / material failing will be resolved as cheaply as they can get away with in Europe and in other world regions where they can get a new one torn in court of by the authorities they will get a shift on.
  7. Time will tell. Like when DQ200's were in a Global Recall excluding Europe where it was not a Safety Issue because when you lost drive you could roll the the road side. Australia is now on the 3rd recall due to all those that were missed at previous Service Campaigns and Recalls. This is at least a full RECALL in Europe and a 'Safety matter'. A bit slow in actions being taken but then you can trust VW, after all they are not Vauxhall, Mercedes, BMW or other European based manufacturers that drag things out. Like with the 1.5 TSI kangerooing issue that had owners / drivers vehicles in dealerships for weeks while their cars awaited software updates.
  8. @SurreyJohn What tosh, you need to stop believing Social Media. Where does the thousands of UK Mot Examiner find the Type Approved tyre size for the particular vehicle presented to them.
  9. It looks like in the main it will be 'Contracted out'. Not that urgent a Safety Recall as far as the DfT / DVSA must be concerned after VW Group told them they would deal with it.
  10. On Quest now. 24 Hours of Le Mans 2022, Away to start. Well on Quest til 17.00
  11. @Patent Did yours come to you from the Lease Company that got the RECALL or from Skoda / VW UK that send out to Registered Keepers or should from the Contact Information from the DVLA?
  12. Good. Good to give people a clue where you are and what the car is, it saves them having to ask.
  13. Best see that all is well with the car then, servicing up to date and then have the Remap done and you know the warranty is void on engine and gearbox and the risk is yours.
  14. @cav1904 Just a clue on the general area and then me or someone else can point you towards a reliable remapper / tuner. Re Warranty. Not valid then with 'None factory approved softare / engine management or hardware' So you are a bit stuffed there.
  15. @wallacebob That was a free update to you, and an earner for them. What was the ECU update for? Always sensible to tell Dealership Staff / Technicians. Do not do any Software Update as my car is remapped. Also to have them say what the TPI / Recall Action is for. After the Defeat Device Scandal and the VW Emissions Fix it is owners that need to be careful because even with a Peace of mind guaranteed they stuffed up many cars with Software / Engine Management updates.
  16. Welcome to the forum. Maybe it will be you that needs to tell others once you find out. ? Which engine & gearbox have you got that came without HSA as standard?
  17. That is a lovely tale told to the Call Centre Handler with the Insurance Company. Remapped for economy and efficiency and not more performance with more bhp / Nm torque. Just tune the car if you really want it then just do not go any faster than when not remapped and it might use less fuel, or it might not.

  19. Welcome. Where are you in Scotland? Be sure that you insure with a company fine with Remaps. Just get the car, be sure all is well then head for a reputable tuner of which there are plenty in Scotland and you are sorted. http://ecotune-scotland.co.uk
  20. Or in cars being used hard or in hotter conditions just have the oil near the maximum quantity as in the owners manuals. No point running 1/4 -1/3 low in oil as happens pretty commonly with lots of engines. 'With the engines with just 2.8 litres of oil being 0.5 low is a bit much' Engines newer than in Mk1 Fabia might have 3.6 or 3.9 litre capacity and come from a service low and then be as much as 1.3 - 1.5 litres before a Low Oil Warning light or message shows.
  21. Not really any need to change your habit. Just check once Cold then check and a At Operating Temp check.. So as you are now you know the level is correct for the oil on the dipstick. Still check cold before starting an engine so that the oil is all in the sump, as much as goes to the sump. But still check at Operating Temperature / Normal Operating temperature as VW, AUDI & SEAT says. Then you know the difference. Before a trip you know you have enough oil in a car instead of setting off not knowing or needing to fill up. It is Skoda that says 'warm'. Some manuals from VV Group say 'Hot' or Operating Temperature for the same engines as in a Skoda. Czech is a different language from German, English, US English, Chinese etc. Lots gets lost in translation. 1.2 44 kW engines are checked 'Cold' according to a Skoda & VW Manual..
  22. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/503157-phev-owners-drivers-be-aware-a-recall-might-be-coming-your-way-for-the-car Skoda / VW need to make more effort and not expect the owners / drivers to go out of their way at their expense. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504039-recent-campaign-query
  23. @Hardy1812 Just be prepared for there being leaks after you replace the coolant. Hopefully nobody has used Redweld / K-Seal type products in the past and you will be fine. It is not uncommon and a member even suggested doing exactly that last week in a thread. Breaks peoples heart and soul the bodges people do before punting a car onto the unsuspecting.
  24. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/448064-car-service-including-fuel-system-treatment http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/472295-oil-and-fuel-additives Plenty Service Desk Staff in UK Main VW Group / Skoda Dealerships will try to sell you a Fuel Treatment at even the first service, 1 year or 2 year old cars.
