New purchase advice!
Welcome. What has your service indicator been set at, is it left as it left the factory on variable or has it been changed to fixed? If on variable you can just get the oil & filter service and inspection done sooner if you want and reset then. Skoda refer to the 'Recommendations' or Guidelines. There is Fixed Oil & Filter Service Regimes or Variable / Flexible Service Regimes and Skoda / VW Group. 15,000 km a year sounds right for doing the Oil & Filter changes annually and not waiting to 2 years or 29,000 km or more? https://volkswagen.co.uk/en/owners-and-drivers/servicing/service-plans/service-schedules.html Be sure to check where the oil is at now with a cold check and then at operating temp check (then you know how it has been handed over to you) and read the owners manual on 'Driving in a new car', (check the tyres pressures and reset if needed and reset the TPMS.) It is the tyres / brakes, suspension etc as well as the engine and gearbox that your are Driving in or Running in as most people call it. Some extra oil might be used in the first 1000,s of km so top up as required and do not wait for a warning light or message. VW 508 00 / 509 00 oil so 0w 20 FS IV.

Karoq or Superb
Welcome. Would a 1.4 TSI Kodiaq not be worth considering if available where you are? ? Where is that, is it in the UK.

Damaged tyre
You could. But do not risk it for you, your loved ones and innocent people around and about if you have that tyre give up the ghost, maybe at speed.

New or improved hubs announced, Government EV Loans in Scotland and free & no longer free public charging places..
It was in 2014 that SWARCO's EV Hardware took over APT / e-Volt, not in 2018. 2018.

Enyaq or Kodiaq
Buying an EV depends very much on anyone's circumstances buying & owning and for how long or leasing and a business user or not and getting the tax breaks with BIK. Also if an EV suits your use, if you have home charging, cheap charging tariff for electric or charging at work or if it will be using public chargers. Public charger proper Rapid charging costs are getting to be about the same as running an ICE vehicle that can do 40 mpg plus. Availability of new cars is not only with the Enyaq but also Kodiaq's.

SOS went Ape
There certainly are UK vehicles that call 999 when the SOS button is pressed which is why some have it disabled so that passengers left in a car might not press it when trying things out. ? Does the system in a Kamiq not also ring 999 when the button is pushed if enabled and operating correctly?

UK Public Charger Network & price increases as they are announced. Please post here as you become aware of any changes in the costs.
Charge Place Scotland charge point tariffs. May 2022. https://chargeplacescotland.org/charge-point-tariffs This seems like sensible pricing and max charge times. More 100 /100 + chargers needed around the CPS Charge Points.

EV real world range and cost to charge
This is pretty much Real World for a not that high priced EV these days. Maybe more expensive than many want to pay for a new family sized car. Handy for those visiting places and people with EV's and where you can charge and are not having to go about trying to find chargers or ones working.

PS I was talking to a TESLA Model 3 Taxi Driver (Private hire car) @ Edinburgh Airport Park & Ride. He had free Tesla Super Charging but the Super Charger @ the Airport is out of order so he was sitting paying 35 pence a kWh on one of the 4 22kW chargers that let you charge for 3 hours. He was very very peed off. £50 Million of the UK & EU's public money to provide what is a pretty pathetic infrastructure so far is because there are too many that were creaming money off the top like those providing the Back Room IT and the supposed maintenance. Lets hope the next £60 million is spent more wisely and monitored a lot more closely and that those not providing a proper public charging network lose their contracts. Edinburgh is now spending lots of money on the charging network but have put so many off EV's already. They have not been deprived of money up til now, they have just mismanaged it. ................................................................................................................. DUNDEE Council put a pretty sensible pricing system in place. They do charge more for visitors than local Council Tax Payers though. But that is abused by cheats. Highland Region has a 45 Minute max charging time in place which is not great but works better than 30 minutes. People do have places to be, people to see and can not always be charging between destinations or luckily be at peoples homes with chargers.

Plenty Joiners, plumbers, electricians, painters, cleaners, carpet layers etc etc that work for Mitie or others do not all live where the can charge at home but get to take home their work vehicle and then travel back to where ever they are working. Charging from the 20% that you start charging is quick enough but if you have a 45kW useable battery vehicle and you have 30 miles range showing and need 120 miles range to be able to maybe get to the next charger you want in another 25 kWh or more in & you can not get that on a 50 kWh charger. If you have a 7kW on board charger and you want to get to full or near full, 98/99 % then you will be near an hour. Just a bit quicker maybe if you have an 11kW charger. The worst thing is not being able to get Rapids started on CCS yet a car with CCHAdeMO pulls up and the chargers starts no issue. So you go on the 7kW charger to get enough charge so that you can move on or you hope they are doing a short charge and you get the charger to work for you when they finish. If you have 100 miles to go to someplace with passengers and it normally takes 2 hours in an ICE it is not too much to expect to be able to set off in an EV & get to the likes of Edinburgh Airport and then charge for 60 minutes and at least get enough charge to be able to do a return journey. 6 rapids and people pulling in and charging for 30 minutes and then unplugging and playing musical chairs to plug in again at another charger is ridiculous, or having to go off to find a commercial charger someplace.

Can I part exchange my wheels against a new set?
Use Google images or just a search Briskoda Fabia Mk2 vRS wheels loads of pictures or threads. Audi wheels are nice on a Fabia hatch or estate. You could have had 18" rims if you wanted style over practicality.. Pity you bought the 205/40 R 17 tyres you could have gone 215/40 R 17's on 17" rims. Lots of nice 17" rims about that will suit your estate. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/487466-will-these-alloys-fit-ok

Can I part exchange my wheels against a new set?
They are already repainted then and not as original. Maybe even by me as i did something like 6 sets, and so did others. I used to sell them at £100 each. Some were bought to be used as spares because me or others would split sets. Painted. I did refinishing in White, Silver or Black to any originals and some just with all one colour and no alloy edge. Also various greys if anyone wanted. These are just Dark Chrome Gigaro done all in Black i think for winter use.

Stage 1 Remap Rapid 1.2tsi
@HightowerDL Awesome GTI know what they are doing, and should certainly know DQ200 DSG's and the history of them. There are other tuners / remappers that will take your money and tough luck if it costs you more than you budgeted for. https://darksidedevelopments.co.uk/dsg-and-auto-gearbox-tuning https://clptuning.co.uk/product/tvs-engineering-dsg-software-dq200 It is a DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG and really there need not be an issue now or even with more Torque / BHP with a remap, but there can be clutch slip issues. So when saying you have a DSG it is as well to mention it is a DQ200. There are some that have had to have uprated clutches and software and that is with the standard power and because there were some DQ200 even since 2015 and the last service campaign covering 2013-2015 having issues. Look after that DSG but first before any software upgrade be sure it is not slipping. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/43925-the-story-of-the-famous-dq200-clutch-slip/page/15

We might hear soon how MITIE employees working in Edinburgh are going to get on with their EV's now that that they are limited to 30 minutes charging at public CPS chargers. Their bosses seem to have not told them there is a £30 penalty for staying on the charger over 30 minutes. http://news.mitie.com/news/mitie-celebrates-electric-vehicle-milestone-in-edinburgh-but-calls-for-additional-infrastructure https://edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh-news/msp-who-drives-electric-car-23573293 https://speakev.com/threads/charge-place-scotland.168732/page-2 @wyx087Is this London you are experiencing which is a whole different country from Scotland and a world away from much of England as well? Really you need to speak to more taxi drivers ( Black /White Hybrid Cab or Wheel Chair Accessible EV Cabs and ones that have airports as their area of work or even just the likes of Edinburgh. I used to get peed off at the ones sitting 90 minutes and refusing to come off the free chargers, but they need more than 30 minutes as they know and anyone that has driven one. As it is they are now going to lose time over and above any 'breaks' they are due to take. There are people arriving in the Capital City of Edinburgh and that are now going to have to find Commercial Chargers and pay and get some range to get to another area of the country, be that north, south, east or west. It is not about not paying, it is about all the hubs being built which there are plenty but it is grid lock traffic and getting to these Park & Ride type hubs when all you want is to get someplace. Last night i spent hours trying to get a charge & enough charge at public chargers. My car would take 60 minutes to get in 33 kWh and it did. I charged twice, and the chargers would not start on the APP or the CPS Card and i used my Credit Card. The people with a Vauxhall EV van are driving into work using the public chargers and needing to get on for the day with a 50 or 75 kW battery. 30 minutes is no use to them. The Taxis need 50 minutes on the 50 kW charger and they have hybrids. I had to go one one charger for 30 minutes then come off and move to another to get enough to get home without charging on route where the chargers are unreliable. People are in for a damn shock ones they see what Edinburgh City Council have done. ................ Free is an issue and no overstay penalty, but 60 minutes or 70 minutes is what so many need to get on with journeys. Like Stirling Park & Ride and the muppets that were on the 4 Rapids for hours and the cars no longer charging. At least the Council Vehicles are now sitting on the 7 kW chargers overnight etc. The 4 Rapids are the furthest away. The likes of these are just a farce for people that need to charge and go. Fine for those leaving cars / vans / mini buses all day.

@DutyPaid Are your wheels still original with a silver edge, or even painted and still with the edge and not all black? Some had the Dark Chrome Gigaro that got 'White Spider' corrosion painted or powder coated to black, like these.

Edinburgh City Council / Councillors must be off their heads. 35 pence a kWh on Charge Places Scotland Public Chargers are one thing but a 30 minutes max charging time and then a £30 overstay fine will not work for Taxi's, Hybrids Taxis, Commercial drivers / Trades People with EV's. Or many of the Public including people just passing through Edinburgh and needing a charge. Edinburgh Council even gave contracts to Trades but required they had EV's. Now people are arriving at chargers and not aware of the 30 minutes & some have charged as usual in the past days and stayed the hour or whatever they need to charge for their work. The 22kW Chargers are a 3 hour stay at Edinburgh Airport & the 7kW are 12 hours and 25 pence a kWh. No idea elsewhere as the 3 sites i was at only showed the 35 pence and 30 minutes.

Briskoda for sales is a good place to advertise your Black Gigaro alloys. It can be a good place to buy wheels / tyres and other stuff from people that know about Skoda's. You can advertise for a SWAP even. PS. Your wheels can be powder coated or painted for not much expense. Having that done before the tyres were fitted would have been sensible but too late now. But the powder coat places can take them off and refit. Some placed even lend wheels / tyres while the do your wheels.

the truth about electric cars
35 pence a kWh chargers all empty. Could not start with CPS card, credit or debit card or on the app, no answer on CPS number so off to PodPoint 50 kW to pay and charge. That is Edinburgh the capital cities airport issue. Just a crap set up. EDIT. Mental, max stay 30 minutes then a £30 fine. I could not get the 50 started and am on a 7kw. £1 minimum spend. And that will be 3kWh. In or I am overstay. PS. Account shows 2.6 kWh in 24 minutes and 91 pence. Later I got on another 50 kW charger and just the 30 minutes. I will see later how much that has cost as never showed on charger or phone app.

the truth about electric cars
I did 400 miles yesterday, 4 charge sessions, 300 so far today and on my 3 charge session now. The Muppets taking advantage and abusing getting free charging is unreal. Cars parked for hours on 50 and 43kW chargers when plenty slow chargers or some are available. My next charging is going to be at Edinburgh Airport park and ride. I believe it is not costing to charge and there is an overstay charge. So good. I might get on a charger. Can not find how much it is because zapmap, plug share and charge places Scotland are not updated but I will see in an hour.

Hitting the big seven-oh---
This week a 60 year old musician had a brick dropped on his helmeted head by 4 yobs wanting to steal his e-scooter. Luckily not badly hurt. Lots of coverage on the radio. Not one person except me asked if police confiscated the e-scooter he was riding illegally on a public path.

Lots legislation needed in the UK before they should be legal. Grant Shapps will get ripped to shreads.
