Charging ever bigger batteries
On a long trip and using the cars range, maybe needing to charge before going further / home & if you do not have a 100 or 150 kW charger available but only a 50 kWh and you get only 33 kWh topped up in 60 minutes then that is what you get. If you are getting 3 miles to a kWh then that is just about 100 miles topped up in an hour. On a 7 kWh charger if you get 6.6 kWh of a charge in an hour and getting only 3 miles per kWh then you are just adding about 20 miles in an hour. 5.6 kWh of a charge in 55 minutes this morning on a 7kWh charger in an air temp of 0*oC. The local 50kWh chargers will just top up the battery about 33kWh in 60 minutes and there are not 100kWh chargers within 15 miles. 35 miles to a 350 kWh charger. Top 2 are PodPoint 7kWh charging. Bottom a PodPoint 50 kWh 26 pence a kWh and 39 minutes to near top up and that was only 21.21 kWh added. If the battery had been lower at start of charge it would have taken in more, 3 miles x 21.21 kWh = 64 miles ish for £5.51 Bargain. 4 miles X is 85 ish. Real bargain. Paying 44-50 pence a kWh then less so, and if paying 69 pence like at Ionity with no special pricing then about the same cost as petrol / diesel. 21.21 @ 69 pence kWh £14.64. No idea how long the Grey ID.4 might sit charging at the free kWH charger but i sometimes see bigger battery cars sitting all day and overnight which is a PITA really with only 4 chargers available locally. The KIA's that are parked up and left as the drivers walk off or get collected & charge for a long time could easily just park up at the nearby KIA Dealership and charge rather than blocking others from these.

VW ID.4 SUV EV
Looks good IMO and the best colour for dirty winter roads. Wheel trims & steel wheel very practical but maybe Winter tyres would be 'Simply Clever'.

I am sitting charging and it is below freezing. It is wonderful when getting to the car when it is iced up to get in and just de-ice without a heated screen by just turning the heater to MAX. I could have remotely turned it on but never bothered. This morning the heated steering wheel decided to stay on before moving off. Now the heater is set above 28°C and the windows a little open and I am as snug as a bug in a rug. Phone and chrome book are charging while I sit here. These are the functions that are important to me. Saying that a very moody looking grey with black wheels ID. 4 PRO is sitting charging and it is the nicest one I have seen. I would happily drive away in it. Edit. Black wheel trims on steel wheels. Possible ditch finder tyres though. You really do not want one on these Elephants T-Boning you as it overshoots a junction on inappropriate tyres for roads not gritted / salted in winter conditions.

Fabia buyers remorse?
If the car drives well then hopefully you can chill and enjoy for a long time. All the issues that occurred were well documented on here at the time since 2010 and the actions that members took and how Skoda dealt with them, so the TPI's, Service Campaigns or Workshop Actions. A Skoda Dealership or Skoda UK CS can tell you what is they have on their system for work done in the Dealership Network during the first 3 year and since as long as the Dealerships put it on the system. The sticker or others for Service Campaigns should be in the boot, put there if the work done. The ignition lead can be looked at and see if armoured. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/458349-problematic-fabia-12-tsi A Service Record or Full Service Record should not just show a car had Oil & Filter changes. It should show, When was the brake fluid last changed, the brakes serviced / rear drums off, The Air Filter replaced or checked, The Pollen / cabin filter, The Fuel Filter, The Spark Plugs, And any consumables replaced & Servicing and Maintenance carried out. DQ200 7 speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG's have no Service Schedules / Recommendations or Guidelines for Servicing.

You could look on Ebay. You can get Blank Service Books which you can ask people servicing to fill in. They were commonly used by people to make up false Service Records for vehicles. But then a Service Book for cars pre 2014 is not much use for looking at what each service shows for a car after that of a different generation. Things like at the 5th Service on fixed regime replace the Alarm Siren tends not to be done. Best pay your money and get the information from online for your cars servicing schedule or recommendations / guidelines.

Fabia buyers remorse?
Welcome. That was the past, stuff should have been dealt with by now on a 12 year old car. *Maybe the wiring passing to the door might play up, or maybe that wiring was dealt with.* You say it has a Full Service History, is that not detailed as to what was carried out on the car rather than just it was in for a Service at different dates? ? Do you not have an actual FULL Service History, and Warranty & Service Campaign work history for your car? ..................................... ? WHY WOULD YOU HAVE TO MESS ABOUT WITH THE GEARBOX OIL? Is there not a sticker in the Spare Tyre Well with '34F7' on it showing that the Service Campaign was done on the DSG since 2014 and the oil was changed from Synthetic to mineral and a software update? That is job done and your car is low miles. IF NOT DONE THEN MAYBE BECAUSE NOT REQUIRED, NOT ALL 2010-2012 DID GET DONE. Maybe your timing chain tensioner has had the upgrade, is there no record of that? Maybe the ignition lead has been upgraded, maybe the turbo shim was dealt with. There was a TPI & Service Campaign on the front wiring loom for some. That should have been dealt with if it applied to the car and it had Main Dealer Servicing. If the car is running well at 12 years old that is all that really matters. PS. There were no RECALLS, there were Service Campaigns which now get called RECALL ACTIONS. Not even the Heated Seats were a RECALL. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall The RECALL is on a MK1 Fabia.

DRL'S
No loss if they are not working really unless you are someone that is a fan of DRL's.

Superb III 190 sportline all season 3PM+S tyres needed any recommendations?
@Carlston Thanks. Typo, ? Which country is it you drive in and what car is it you drive, and out of interest which tyres do you fit?

& those with 3PMSF might well also have the M&S marking. There are 3PMSF that are total rubbish in Mud, these might well be the All Season / All Weathers, and there are some that do rather well in mud. There were M&S marked tyres that were really rather good in Mud and Snow and over the years i have had these and used them in Mud and Snow.

Tyre replacement for Karoq 1.5TSi (2WD) - 215/50 R18 92W - Limited Choices

Tyre replacement for Karoq 1.5TSi (2WD) - 215/50 R18 92W - Limited Choices
British Insurance Companies, Brokers, Call Centre Handlers & Underwriters never knew when Winter Driving Conditions actually happen in the UK as low temps or snow / ice can occur in Spring , Summer, Autumn & Winter in the parts of the UK, and warm weather can as well like a heat wave in Scotland in March 2012 with Blizzard like conditions coming in April with whole communities cut off.. So basically when winters or All Weather or snow tyres are not appropriate becomes a grey area. Many in or around hill/ mountain roads keep the same tyres on all year and have done with different vehicles over the decades. ? Do they want people to take their Winter / All Weather tyres off in May only to put them back on in August? Night time temps might well be well below 7*oC even in those 3 months. So you do need the agreement from insurers and it has become in the past years that they had become more sensible. SAGA have not been so silly in past years IME, but then all anyone can do is ask and who knows what answers they can come away with. Sometimes it seems to be nonsense someone comes away with. What Skoda as a Manufacturer might say about a lower Speed Rating in Winter counts for nothing as they do not even specify when winter or winter like conditions are in the UK. (They have still not designed Fuel Filler Flaps that do not freeze shut yet they are a Central European car manufacturer.)

DRL'S
They were never compulsory on MK2's because they were Type Approved before the DRL legislation in 2011. But then not compulsory in 2014 with the Mk3 Fabia as they did not get new Type Approval.

ACC and Crystal face problem
If they are saying they are not available and the front is snowed / iced up then that must be exactly the conditions they expect them to function in.
-
ESP and traction control error
@Kacper Have you got a copy of the Warranty & T&C's you can show here or are you being told by staff at the Trader that it only covers the engine?
-
ACC and Crystal face problem
The weather / inclement weather / road conditions where drivers can not use CC or ACC are the conditions that are very probably when they should not be using them. Take control of the vehicles steering and speeds and braking distances and you are left with some stuff the engineers designed in like ABS / ESP /TC (ASR) etc.

Winter roads, ice, snow and wet or dry driving in an EV..
Only 30 miles driven since last Sunday in several short drives each day & charging each morning to 99%. So that takes about 4 kW each 24 hours. The last 2 cold nights and days with frosts so just a bit more electric needed. On a 7kWh charger it is 1kWh in about 10 minutes to charge and it is only slower putting in the last kW to have the battery @ 100% So not worth doing that as easy enough to get the battery up to full if regening after leaving the charger. Free Tesco charging At home @ 21 pence a kWh that 25kWH would be £5.25 & Local Council charging is 23 pence so £5.75, but that could be on a 50 kWh charger and the 25 kWh could be in the car within 50 minutes rather than about 40 minutes each day on the free charger. (The 50 kWh chargers council provided locally will sometimes not add 33 kWh in 60 minutes.)

Almost all my driving has been in vehicles with no Euro-NCAP stars or not very many and that includes the ones i have been in crashes in so what difference will it make if i drive yet another one. The deal breaker for me is if the cars heating can not work while the car is on a charger.

2nd Hand Superb 206TSI Auto 4x4 MY18.5 Mileage 85,000
@DomVHWelcome. Just check that the Service History for the car with the 52,000 miles covered has had the DSG Serviced and the Haldex, & the lower mile one had had the Haldex Serviced. With a Full Skoda Service History it should show what has been done and not just that they were in for Services.

@ApertureSIt is an Issue that the 'Owners Manual' will not tell an Owner with a DQ200 DSG that their box does not have a Schedule for oil changes but Service Desk staff or Sales Staff will tell some their cars DSG is due at 40,000 miles and this has been for over a decade now. These are people who are working in a Skoda Dealership maybe 5-7 days a week but might have only just started that month or been there for years. It is scary when you spend any time in the presence of staff at Service Desks in Main Dealerships the crap you hear,

@ApertureS I think i am not reading it wrong. I know and have never suggested the DSG Service is at 4 years & post exactly that almost weekly in threads. I posted this morning this morning to the member that asked just after the post you linked. @Patent If people stop coming to the forum for the first time or asking about Services and Servicing or Recommendations on Servicing and maintenance then there will be no requirement to show what Skoda give as a sort of guide to Fixed Servicing. If people get Ask Skoda or Skoda Approved Repairers rather than on a forum then they will get an answer from Skoda. No point asking VW.

OK, you are stuffed then. My partner is Hungarian and her families Skoda also sit waiting and they just have to do whatever to get about.

@mr44 What country are you in? Their senior & junior sales staff are driving lovely cars that Skoda / VW own this weekend. I hope it was the Dealer Principal you spoke with and not the Service Manager.

2nd hand prices
These Dealerships are sitting with stock lots of which is not selling that are purchased with money borrowed / financed. They have them on the never never. BCA are part of the Finance Establishment and lend the money to Traders / Dealers to buy stock. Car Manufacturers borrow to manufacture and then lend to the customers to buy cars. At some point their will be an investigation in the UK to the manipulation of Used Car Prices & how well Dealerships can do but how little PROFIT gets taxed as they are paying out inflated prices to themselves prepping vehicles. The price of used cars has been blamed for the higher inflation rate. Banks / Finance Establishments own cars being sold and the value put on these cars are high and people are borrowing more. That could look like 'manipulating the borrowing.'

30.000 km Service: software update
? Have they not arranged delivery of a Courtesy car from them or Skoda Assist? Purely a case of a Fail on their part by their employee.
