  1. Police target drivers on the NC500. (Again and often.) http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-53471389
  2. Anyone that goes with an Edition 7 seat 2.0TDI 150ps manual AWD from stock needs to be aware that they can not tow with those.
  3. Really not sure what i am hearing there. A vRS Kodiaq owner will be along hopefully. Or at least someone not as Mutt and Jeff as me. Really i would swerve Perth unless you want to go that way. Victoria Garage are very good, and a nicer 94 miles than up and down the A9.
  4. @Steve-Inverness You have Skoda Assist. Call them, say you are too concerned to drive the car, at least then a 'responder' will come out and say all OK or not. (The AA.) 'No charge', you paid for Skoda Assist when buying the car. & Maybe look at going to Victoria Garage Maud rather than Skoda Specialist cars / John Clark Group in Perth, or Aberdeen. Best use those with all the the gear and more than just ideas IMO. & a pleasant manner. http://www.victoriagarage-maud.co.uk (Worth calling them.) As to the diagnostics cost at Skoda Approved / Main Dealers that participate in Fixed Price Servicing and Maintenance, like Skoda Specialist cars Perth. The first 30 minutes is £60.
  5. @sepulchrave Since you can read, maybe go back and read the OP and pay attention to the questions asked, post 1 and post 2, and that was not just about a tiptronic oil change as in the first one. The OP got answers and then you crack on as usual talking about stuff you seem to know very little about particularly. I think that since the VW Group came up with the DQ200 and have produced millions they coc-ked up several times and tried getting away with what they could in Europe and in world regions where courts and authorities rip them a new one they spent on Recalls and remedial actions and gave owners extended warranties. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/439395-the-story-of-the-famous-dq-200-clutch-slip http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/473213-another-dsg-recall-today-sorry-if-already-posted In Australia now where the emissions are not a concern really the Karoq is available with a 1.4tsi (not a hybrid) & an 8 speed automatic. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/477576-new-australian-karoq-release-for-your-amusement The other solution for VW and DQ200's is that the 1.0TSI & 1.5TSI's with be Light Hybrid and the cars start off in electric mode, and soon those that are not will have the potentially troublesome DQ200 for a while longer. Millions of good ones around and sadly VW Group hate to admit to the lemons. Like the blind leading the blind and just blethering on really.
  6. Best not leave the doors or windows open and the key in it then. Any car can be stolen and likely a Mk1 Fabia vRS would be getting targeted.

  8. @GAG Interesting website from a Skoda Dealership / authorised repairer. Skoda UK says all sorts of things, be that Customer Services / Communications Managers or whoever they refer the question to. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/482371-timing-belt
  9. In Aberdeen where people might have long pockets and short arms they know the price of most things and the value of everything. Plenty have brand new and even prestige cars and yet take the 07 plate or whatever one to work or to park in the long stay car park.
  10. @sepulchrave Whatever the early articles say, the MCU's were not replaced in Europe and some other world regions, and the synthetic oil was changed for mineral under Service Campaign '34F7'. Then from 2013-2015 some were getting the service campaign '34H5' because of the premature failure of the boxes / leaks. That is a Software Update. This forum does have people that had the cars and followed what went on and is still going on. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/315115-service-campaign-dq200-dsg-oil-changeecu-update-fabias-in-th-uk http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/444027-201718-dq200-dsg-34f7-service-campaign-any-further-issues http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/447800-dq200-dsg-2011-2015-service-campaign-experience 3 hours in Countries where the Recall or Service Campaign as called in New Zealand had the new MCU fitted. 2 hours in Europe or anyplace else where just the Oil was changed from synthetic to mineral and all done within 45 minutes in many cases. Some places even failed to apply the software update correctly, and never road tested the car after the work was carried out. Lots of vehicles missed out on '34F7' that should have had it carried out, this was because all Registered Keepers were not contacted, even though the DVLA in the UK were supposed to have given the Registered Keepers contact details to VW UK. Then there were those that were told that their vehicle had Mineral Oil already filled, or just that their vehicle required no action. Then there were other cars that did not require '34F7' because built late 2012, but have since failed. There were even 2013 cars that dealerships did do '37F7' to.
  11. If renting a car for 36 months or whatever and handing back does it really bother anyone if it is a plate starting with 20 or 70 on it. SV20 SW20 or SU20 vs SV70 SW70 or SU70
  12. It will be interesting to see if 15-20 year old BMW i3's are strong of body and could just do with the EV hardware and software updated.
  13. The world wide recall of DQ200's in 2012 which excluded countries like in Europe which are not in the world somehow but which eventually got service campaigns started in 2013/14 was to replace the synthetic oil that was filled at the factory and was part of the issue with corrosion and sulphur. In some countries not in the world for the world wide recall like New Zealand the cars got a new MCU fitted and the Mineral Oil and software update. The fix was to use Mineral oil. https://www.sgcarmart.com/news/events_features.php?AID=2943
  14. I think you have got something wrong there. There is a recall in Australia started in 2019 on DQ200's from 2012-2016. There was a Service Campaign started in 2017 on DQ200's from 2013-2015, which is a Software Update. But as long as they know what they are doing, then any new part being fitted like a replacement MCU should be fit for purpose. You still have 10 year old clutches though unless you are changing those.
  15. @MichaelJone What are you having done to your DSG, is it new Clutch Packs or a Mechatronic Control unit or both? You could have had Uprated clutches fitted, and you could have the Software changed, but if you are just getting standard parts / repairs then you will need to be taking care just what power upgrade you are doing. With a 1.4 TSI Twincharger 320 Nm is what you may get when you have 210 ps or more.
  16. Welcome. There is the possible issues with 1.8TSI Euro 5's to consider as well as the 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG. VW have the DQ200 DSG with a 250Nm limit, and people remap the likes of 1.4TSI 180ps Twinchargers to 320Nm or more and have no issues. But with your 10 year old DQ200 DSG has it had the World Wide Recall action / Service campaign in some world regions to change the oil from synthetic to mineral and do the software update.
  17. Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire is still where it always has been which is not on the West Coast of Scotland. Winter & salted roads and cars living near the seaside can rot, but this one is ridiculous.
  18. You can't because there is an insert for putting the jack and pump in and a bit of space, but then i never understand those that want to carry cables under stuff in a full boot. You need to lift the lid to get them out. If they are wet put them in a sealed bag in the boot until you can dry them. An e-Corsa manual which is not small, and then the 'other' folder can go in there as well.. If changing fuses or checking i would rather be at the kerbside / passengers side in a right hand drive car doing it.
  19. Those days still exist with some with a key and DSG & Autohold other than dropping the 'parking / hand / emergency brake' bit. KISS. We know why they memorise them for Europe / EU. For other world regions then some places might suits some of the crap. The thing is that if you do not want some of the crap then just get a Dacia / Lada or even a cheaper / smaller Skoda without it.
  20. Yes. Maybe just not put in the Media cars they are driving. But then Vauxhall want around £500 for a 3 pin charger cable and have none in stock. You can get 10 meter ones for around £240, with a nice case. Heavy though. I have a Tote box that fits between the seat and back of car that holds them, and makes the area flat with the seat folded forward. Since there is no space really behind the drivers seat for an adult with legs the charger cable bag can go there.
  21. Darkside's one. http://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/ibiza-fr-mk5-2-0-16v-cr140-cfh
  22. Doh, could she not see that the furthest away compartment is wider, takes the manual long ways so really those that actually bother to look might see in right hand drive PSA cars that furthest left is a suitable space and in some a slot for the owners manual, leaving the cubby hole free for the 'string back driving gloves' and reading specs. Some people might not bother to actually look though or just say something about no space for an owners manual. Like @ 7 minutes. ^^^ You can see the shaped space for the manual if you actually look and the glove compartment lid still closes. Below is the Opel / Vauxhall e-Corsa place to the left for the Owners manual.
  23. But as far as VW Group are concerned @Phil-E's DQ200 DSG is filled for life unless they are doing recalls. (They should be paying for any further oil changes that may be required on 2009-2012 cars since they were the ones that first decided an oil change was required as a preventative measure due the possible loss of drive. /sulphur and corrosion...) It has 2 different oils in the box and the MCU and some DIY change and some have techs / mechanics / specialists change the oil. As it is those on a Service Desk with a qualification in being a receptionist will be non the wiser on what is what with them.
  24. this is pretty much the twin / sister car to the DS3 e-tense.
