98 octane in Citigo
There is a Motor Engineer/ Mechanic / Master Tech or whatever on this forum that says he worked with whoever and when testing 1.0TSI's Super Unleaded supposedly reduced performance. But then that is them testing, and others can actually be driving and take their science with a pinch of salt, which sodium and detergents pretty much are. If for £2 extra or less you think the car feels smoother running then whats the harm. Some ethanol octane boosting suits many people. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/469546-10-tsi-premium-fuel

Oil questions.
There have been members in the recent past that asked Dealership employees what oil would be used at a service and they were told 0w 30. Might well be better than the potentially crap 0w 20 FS IV. There for VW's sake and not the owners of cars that will be keepers.

DSG 7 speed gearbox oil change
The Flashing white spanned is when a Fault occurs. But before that there was another 'warning', White spanner flashing seems to be rather common with 'inbetweenies' and Skoda / VW do not care. Saying that '34F7' was not required or '34H5', so owners can just bog off and get their car fixed out of your own pocket as they were not the ones with Design, Manufacturing, material or consumable issues. Some leak as the ones from 2013 that caused them to carry out '34H5' as a preventative measure, but they are in denial. Barstewards.

Oil questions.
Thanks. That really surprises me with a WLTP Approved TDI as i only know of them all leaving the factory with VW508/509 incase they are retested when imported to the UK or any other country with the WLTP.

DSG 7 speed gearbox oil change
Your DSG should be built summer 2012 & have already had the Oil and Software that VW Group went to because the World Wide Recall had happened before then and they knew the issue. But there are boxes between then and 2013 that never needed 34F7 or '34H5' that started in 2017 on ones from 2013-2015 which is a software update. So yours might be an Inbetweeny. Got and needs neither according to SKODA / SKODA UK / VW.. But then can get the Flashing white Spanner issue. Skoda like to pretend they know nothing about these DQ200's and say there are no issues. They lie and there are enough examples of 'Inbetweenies' to show they are untrustworthy and dishonest. Nothing you can do. Thread is pinned at the top of the Fabia Mk2 Section. Here is a taste of it.

Oil questions.
What age is your Karoq? Thee correct spec is VW504/507. So 5w 30 FS III. The VW507 being important. You can get VW507 in 0w 30 FS III Since before the WLTP so 2018 from the factory they leave with VW508/509 so 0w20 FS IV. Do not mix them topping up, if the factory oil is still in then top up with VW509 0w 20 FS IV. I do not think you will find VW509 oil that is 0w 30 FS IV The engine blocks / liners do not absorb oil. The owners manual tells you the advice on Driving in / Running in vehicles / engines and oil use in the first 5,000 km. But then they have said the same for decades for all engines, So a cover themselves bit of advice.

Emissions control Light
No reason that it should be Tesco Diesel that has anything to do with things. Cheaper to buy but no different from any other higher priced at Esso, BP, Gulf, Texaco etc Regular Diesel / Derv ,even Royal Dutch Shell's Diesel that is not the premium V-Power.

Totally not into that Trim Foil on the C panel. Likely total rubbish when polishing and waxing, much like the indents on the front to have it fly like a 'Golf ball'. Or what ever VW designed it to do deflecting air smoothly from the frontal area, while not holding freezing slush to the front of the car. We will see.- DSG 7 speed gearbox oil change
Easy enough to not have 'The Emissions Fix done.' You put in writing on the paper the Service Desk Person hands you to sign when the car goes to a Dealership and you hand over the keys that if they illegally do work like the fix without your permission then they have bought the car at top book price. Check with Skoda UK or a Dealership if '34H5' is outstanding.- DSG 7 speed gearbox oil change
We are talking a DQ200 DSG. If new in 2013 and built late 2012 or early 2013 then Service Campaign '34F7' should not be required, but '34H5' might have been, and could still be. There were not DQ200 DSG's filled with the "wrong oil". It was discovered to be causing corrosion. There was the Oil that VW used from 2009-2011/12 that was found to be problematic requiring a World Wide recall & in Europe a Service Campaign and the Oil was changed from Synthetic to Mineral. Many will still have Mineral oil in if never been into have it replaced. Not all required that or got it, but that concerns 2009-2012 vehicles maybe. '34F7'. Then from 2017 there is a Service Campaign to do a Software Update. That is '34H5' http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions You can change the oil or have it changed if you want, but if '34H5' has not been carried out then that can be an issue.- VW ID. 3 (rear wheel drive) :First Drive by Fully Charged. - Nearside inner edge tyre wear, potential causes
@TheRivieraKid Be aware that cars of your age had a TPI for steering parts. So does the Service / Warranty history show work ever done and new parts fitted. Then there are the many 'Pulling to the left' threads on here if you check. The alignment of right hand drive cars was crap from the factory and many had an issue and instead of the alignment being corrected the Dunlop and Continental tyres were blamed and Pirelli Zero Nero fitted to disguise it. Just have the Alignment and tracking check by someone that can actually correct it if needed. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/420438-steering-rod-fed-up- Top Speed without speed limiter
The figures are kidology as the Co2 g/km, WLTP / RDE & RDE2 are. VW, Audi & SEAT were caught cheating Co2 g/km after the Emissions Scandal, and still they do 'engineering of numbers'. For decades a Skoda with the same power / drivetrain as an Audi or VW will show poorer performance than a more expensive vehicle from the sister brands, even if they are actually heavier. Then who really cares about Manufacturers figures with some 60kg driver that you do not know which Rolling Road they were on in a wind tunnel or not. Or where ever above or below sea level in what ever ambient temp with tyres at whatever pressure and a near empty tank of fuel. Stick a 100kg weight in each seat with a seat belt and 200 kg weight in the boot and see what the performance is when the cars are being used as many might be which is as Airport Transport / Taxis or Family vehicles.- Out of warranty servicing
Skoda UK regularly say Paint and Corrosion claims are not valid because the vehicle did not have 'Body work inspections'. Well Full Main Dealer Service History should show Skoda who and where 'Body Inspections are not being done at Services. But then then the Skoda Warranty T&C's no longer says 'Body Inspections required', and has not since Service Books were done away with and the page after a Service was where the Inspection was done, any comments made, then after that it was a hand held device that the tech used and that was uploaded to the system. So Periodic Body Inspections annual or bi-annual really are something of the old 'Skoda UK' era. As it is now at every visit to a Main Dealer Workshop for servicing the Bodywork, glass, lights should be inspected. Still Skoda UK will say inspections not carried out.- A Volvo with an epic soundtrack

@Berisford You can ask for the paperwork after all otherwise you have nothing. They can print it, and now they can email it. Plenty good places hand that over in a little folder of cardboard without being asked. @SurreySlowCoach 'Simply Clever' is no longer use the 'Main Dealership', use an Independent Specialist with all the gear and more than an idea because Qualified Master Techs that left the VW network will have gone there to work or set up a business where Customer Care matters and a good job done for a fair price and customers that want to come back as repeat customers without feeling ripped off.- 98 octane in Citigo
Good stuff, Super Unleaded about £2 or less extra per tank @ Tesco or Sainsbury's in the UK. There are no sellers of 98 ron in the UK. So 97 ron at BP, Sainsbury, Esso, Gulf, Texaco, Costco etc. 99 Ron @ Tesco for Tesco Momentum 99 only 5 pence a litre more than their 95 ron or Shell V-Power Nitro + which will be much more than just 5 pence a litre more than their 95 ron.- Servicing lead times
@Berisford Was this part of a Service Plan that came with the car and you have paid for? Is there no 'Health Check sheet' showing what was checked or supposedly checked and ticked off, tyre measurements etc? No invoice? ? Do you have the Body Condition report that Skoda are so keen to tell anyone with issues never got done?- Adding turbo
A 1.6 FSI if the same as the one with the rusty security bolts for the wheels. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/483096-what-tool-to-remove-security-bolt-on-wheel- Built in the UK Light Commercial EV / Range Extender so a Hybrid vehicle.
Great Vid but. Where is the fuel tank, how big is the fuel tank, where is the fuel filler. To run the engine to run the generator how many miles to the litre (MPG) do you get to actually drive from say London to Scotland.- Electric Scooters / Motor Cycles.

More actual real world drivers, not just one motoring journalist / youtube influencer type person in a car saying much of their driving was on motorways and not saying how much or how far and never trying child seats, and a buggy and stuff in the boot, just camera bags or filling with empty cases or boxes and commenting on the height of the lip or the seat backs when folded not being flat. This has Motorway as well, but then that does matter, here there is not just generalisation. Calling 3 pin charger leads 'Granny chargers' is going to have to stop though IMO. - Skoda Electric Models
