  1. I have done mine and I don't remember having that much of a gap with the spring unloaded. Are you sure that you have the correct spring and that it is seated properly? Can you compare it with the one that you have taken off?
  2. Would these work? https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-pro331-7-piece-torx-screw-extractor-se/
  3. You may have a badly corroded filter top that is leaking (and not unheard of unfortunately) or one of the pipe connections could be leaking.
  4. Where abouts is the leak? Are you sure that the filter that you fitted is exactly the same as the one that you took out as, in the case of my 2012 2L Octavia diesel, there are two different manufacturers of the fuel filter housing that require different filters.
  5. It would be useful to know the age of the car and the size and code of the engine that you have fitted. A photo of the fuel filter showing the leak would also help diagnosis.
  6. IIRC by using a light and a mirror it is possible, at least on my car, to read the manufacturer of the filter housing which is written on it's side. Mine is a UFI.
  7. They are High Intensity Discharge lights also called Xenon. Some car owners retrofit them into projector headlights for more light output although the car should not pass an MOT with them fitted. They gave also been known to damage some cars electronics. They can give a very white light much different to the standard halogen lights. Are you sure that the dip beam should stay on when the high beams are used?
  8. I assume that they have worked in the past so has your son changed anything, such as fitting HID lights to the dip beam, between them working and now not working? Also is the battery in good condition and fully charged?
  9. I am sorry that you have had problems changing the battery. When I changed mine last year I removed the metal clamp and it's bolt completely which made getting the batteries in and out a lot easier especially as I fitted a slightly larger battery than the original.
  10. Did you buy the headlights new or get them second hand from a breakers?
  11. Before you start attacking the lock have you checked for broken wires in the umbilical between the drivers door and the body as these have been known to fracture.
  12. They may do but make sure that you fit the resistors correctly as they may get very hot and melt something.
  13. It could that the car sees the LED bulb in the camera mounting as a failed incandescent bulb unless there is a resistor across it.
  14. Is that the source of curling stones? A long time ago I stayed in a hotel in Maidens when I was working on a job in Girvan. The hotel was average but the food was wonderful! Youcould see the Ailsa Craig from both places.
  15. I have always thought that the only price that actually matters is the amount of money it costs you to get the car that you want which equals the new car cost minus the trade in allowance. Some garages may offer a very good trade in price for your current car but have the car that you want at a higher price than other garages. It is human nature to want the highest price for your trade in and the lowest price for the car that you are buying. At the end of the day anything is only worth what people are prepared to pay for it and not the price that the seller thinks that it is worth.
  16. What people are trying to tell you politely is that as you are not able to update the software your cable, and you bought it from eBay, it more than likely runs a hacked version of the software. This is not looked upon favourably as it is illegal and you are unlikely to get any help here in solving your problem.
  17. Why do you not update to the latest version of VCDS? It is a free download.
