Something metal come loose?
It could be the brake disc shield has fractured or come loose. If you lie on your back and reach behind the disc you should be able to feel whether it is in place or not.

Tow hookup doesn't match
Glad that you got it sorted but it is strange that the caravan was wired wrong. I assume that you checked continuity between the correct pins on the 12N plug, as they are in a standardised format, to the light units on the back of the caravan.

Tow hookup doesn't match
Sounds like a bad earth somewhere. Check all of the bulb holders on the caravan for corrosion or bad wiring.

Tow hookup doesn't match
The socket appears to be a 12N and the plug is a 12S. 12N is used for trailer lighting and the 12S is used for the caravan electrics (battery charging, fridge etc.). The caravan should have a 12N and a 12S plug. Does your car only have one socket (the 12N)?

It sucks
Did you warm up the engine, and the oil, before you tried to suck it out as it comes out much quicker when the oil is thinner. I would just push the tube until you felt resistance and then pull a vacuum and see whether any oil came out. You could also use the dipstick to put a mark on the suction tube as I understand that the dipstick reaches to the bottom of the sump, but I could be wrong.

Timing belt snapped
adokS12, you are a very lucky person. I bet that you had your heart in your mouth when you turned the key to start it. If I were you I would get a compression test done on all 4 cylinders just to make sure that there are no unknown problems lurking about.

Sparkrite Tow Bar Cycle Carrier
I have a Bosal towball mounted cycle carrier and the towball clamp, which is operated by the lever is adjustable. Also the carrier has to be in the correct position so that the clamp sits on the towball vertically to get it to operate.

I bought a Skoda Fabia 1.6 TDI 2010 model today. DPF warning light has come on.
That is the correct connector. You need to ignition on and then pair the device using Bluetooth on your phone before starting the Torque app.

Jacking - a lump of wood!
I would stick with the wood (pun intended) as it does its job. If you wanted to you could wrap it with duct tape to make it look better or could you profile it to make it fit in the spare wheel well? I use a piece of ply when jacking the car up on my block paving drive to spread the load and prevent breaking or displacing the blocks.

tilt alarm
I would have thought that a physical deterrent such as a metal box around the catalytic converter, with the appropriate warning stickers, would have been more effective as people just seem to ignore car alarms these days and those that do try to stop a theft have been threatened with physical violence.

coding mistake. Help me.
Can you please post a complete autoscan from VCDS so that people can see how the car is coded?

HELP! Rear brake pads
The easiest, and foolproof, way is to remove a rear wheel and measure the disc. This will also give you the opportunity to inspect the disc, especially the inboard side, to determine whether you need new discs as well.

My Insurance notified me of my vehicle involved in an accident! Seems very easy to prove it was not thankfully.
That is good news and basically what happened with my false claim. The insurance company (AA) sent a letter asking for more details to the claimant's insurance company. As they had not heard anything back after a set period they closed the claim with no impact on my NCD of claims record.

How to change the oil on a Haldex 5th Gen.
Is the warning to do with the viscosity of the fluid and the pump not being able to cope with thick liquids? Antifreeze is a lot runnier than most oils and I think that the viscosity of brake fluid is fairly low. When I use my Pela manual vacuum pump to suck out engine oil it does help a lot if the oil is warm.

The TT
That brought back memories of my youth when I lived near Lincoln and I used to marshall at clubman motorbike races at Cadwell Park in the 1970s. I don't know whether they have altered any corners but the Gooseneck does not appear to be as tight as I remember it.

Electric Oven Efficiency
The cooker energy rating does not appear to be "real life" unless you like eating bricks! From the Currys website about the new scale for energy efficiency of appliances:- The energy ratings for cookers are staying just the same. When a cooker’s being tested, the size of the internal space is measured against the amount of energy it uses to heat a brick to 55°C. The less energy used to heat the brick, the better the cooker's energy rating!
