issues fitting Towbar
No need to feel either foolish or stupid. There is good information in this thread now for the next poor so and so, who has an βI just donβt get itβ moment π If itβs any consolation, I did pretty much exactly the same with a Passat about 13 years ago, so youβre in good company, you werenβt the first and certainly wonβt be the last. Ideas what to do, stick or switch
If you squint, it looks like a Rav4 : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-patrol/254718637846?hash=item3b4e69f716:g:jnMAAOSwbVNfVhg7

Ideas what to do, stick or switch
Another vote for a Shogun here. Mate had a 2.5, which was never going to set the world alight. But as others have said, also wasn't stopped by any of the rough stuff. Or a Landcruiser/Nissan Patrol? (always fancied the latter). Earned some money back when I was young and stupid, pulling people out of floods & snow in a Hilux. That was quite a capable vehicle. Gaz

Silica Bag
Mine's coming out as soon as the car is out of warranty (VW advised me that removing it while in warranty will void the warranty). Gaz

From GTi to VRS
Hello PM π I went the other way, vRS to GTI (7.5 though). I did map my vRS, to around the 300bhp mark. Difference was very noticeable, but in reality I just caught up with traffic quicker and used more petrol. Was fun doing it π Gaz

Mac update problems
Being back in business didn't last long. It went back to it's old tricks and ended up not firing up at all. The folks who put the new SSD in it said it was time to call it a day. Thankfully I'd managed to do a complete back up a few days before onto a Samsung T5 SSD. So off it goes to the place for dead MBP's. RIP my old friend. It's 16" replacement arrived at 1:15pm this afternoon. And is well, frankly astonishing. Upload from the backup said it was going to take an hour and five minutes, but then it started transferring the data at 350mbps and it was all over and done with in just a few minutes. The longest anything took was me going to the kitchen as I couldn't remember my payment card security number π Gaz

Wash Mitt Recommendations
I've got cheap ones from Tesco that are a couple of years old and still going strong. Go through the washing machine every few weeks, or if I drop them. Haven't felt the need to buy anything more expensive. They pre-date the current Simoniz ones advertised on Tesco. Closest thing to those I've got: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kent-Car-Care-Microfibre-Colours/dp/B004VE41JW/ref=asc_df_B004VE41JW/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310493449173&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7827031526432045628&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006692&hvtargid=pla-755955902072&psc=1 Gaz
