  1. The seat covers I bought are designed to rip in case of airbag deployment. Although I only ended up using the front ones as the rear seat covers were a one size fits all deal which doesn't work unless you have all 3 seats lined up
  2. They were the same, but I may have touched them.. didn't have gloves so used a napkin but very possibly i touched them. Good to know for future changes
  3. I changed all the front lights over a couple hours. Osram diadems for indicators, easy to change. Philips bluevision for parking lights, found them a bit of a hassle to remove but in the tool accessories there's this ring with a hook on it which was perfect for pulling out the bulbs. Put the Philips extreme vision in headlights. Got it all installed without removing the filter or battery. I unscrewed the torx screws holding the wheel well covers in place and accessed it from there. Wasn't easy and I don't see how they would expect someone to change a headlight at the side of the road. Liking the look of it though.
  4. Hmm.. well I couldn't get the multimeter so had to take it to the garage.. they found 4 blown rear bulbs and replaced them and it worked again. I don't get it as I had just checked them and they seemed ok. 2 of them were the ones i had pulled out of the front to replace with bluevision ones. so no idea why they all blew. Had alternator checked but no surges or anything else suspicious, and since then the lights have been fine.
  5. No as mine is a standard v2 it has a solid roof so no worries about stressing it. Got me a saris bones for the bikes on back, and with a rack like this in addition I'll have all i need at £100 vs the £350+ for fitting rails plus the cost of bars.
  6. Been looking around for options and happened across this.. http://www.rackinabag.co.uk/whatcan.html Seems to me like a brilliant solution without spending hundreds on a retrofit, assuming of course the weight limits are respected.
  7. Reading about all these problems with DPF engines I count myself lucky that I happened to buy a 1.9 without DPF, by chance, as I had not idea when i bought it and hadn't the faintest idea where to look anyways. Somewhat wiser now, building knowledge by browsing this forum
  8. That's a good point. I only have right side working. Other side never turned on. I switched fuses around and still the same. Don't think it could be the light switch as it operates both front and rear lights, so wouldn't all fail if it were the switch? A friend is bringing over his multimeter tomorrow so will check if there's any power going to them. failing that, might visit the mechanic
  9. I tried all the possible combinations I could think of. Even with highbeams or dipped lights on, nothing comes on in the back. Went as far as to check if the handbrake on was automatically causing the lights to go off, as some cars did 10 years ago. Still nothing. :wonder: I know when i got the car initially not all the running lights worked, but some did, and they would come on when the parking lights were on. (I haven't got DRL per se)
  10. I have (looking at the car from the rear) only the right side fog light working and none of the parking/running lights. The bulbs in the parking lights were already blown, and I bought new bulbs to replace. Nothing changed after the new bulbs installed. They haven't blown again, they just won't go on. The bulb itself for the left fog light works fine, I have tried it in other sockets. Both brake lights, reverse lights and indicators work fine. License plate lights working as well. The fuses seem all ok. Though I haven't played around with switching them to check.. What obvious thing have I missed to check, before taking it to the shop?
  11. Welcome and hope you enjoy your Roomster. For a few hundred Skoda will retrofit the rails, so well worth going for the 25% offer and doing it later. Unless you have a trusted mechanic don't go looking elsewhere than Skoda dealer to have them fitted and save a few quid, my mechanic said he's seen a couple roomsters with badly botched rail DIY jobs.
  12. Would i see a benefit in less tyre wear if i were to increase my tyres to 2.5bar from current 2.3? Or is this only beneficial if fully loaded?
  13. Assuming it's a 1900cc diesel on factory tyres, http://www.tyre-pressures.com specs it as 29 psi for front and 31 for rear, although that must be for the unladen option
  14. Have you considered a rear bumper protector? something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/RGM-Black-Bumper-Protector-ROOMSTER/dp/B0049MKV8G I've seen them in both stainless steel and plastic
  15. If the engine is running wouldn't the aircon pull juice from the alternator rather than the battery? Could be time to change it as well however I doubt that it will cure the aircon problem.
  16. Or you might find out how well she idles, considering the 32 mile queue that was on the M4 today
  17. Thanks, might do the same then for now at least... only dipped beams.
  18. I have the older 1.9 Tdi with H7 module lights, not sure if it's the same as the newer ones. But does it have single bulbs or twin for high/low beams? I've only ordered 1 set of bulbs...
  19. Like the yeti as well and if i ditched my Roomster would probably go for it unless i could afford the Octavia VRS. Luckily mine has performed well in MPG and hope to wear it out over a loong time.
  20. If you're planning to get a petrol, everyone seems to have good things to say about the 1.2 - try that as well as the 1.8
  21. that's a relief for me to hear as well. wasn't looking forward to shelling out for a major repair
  22. I'm sure they do read it. And definitely ppl must watch out for things best left unsaid. But since they're anyways browsing through, would be nice for them to take a more active participating role. I doubt they would address problems like yours @Diesel - probably would say "we're not authorized to make decisions - call your local dealer" -- but they might be encouraged to give advice at least. Or in the case of experts here, to learn something.
  23. See my post here: http://www.facebook.com/Skoda.uk/posts/362236843844198?notif_t=feed_comment It had a positive initial response, but needs more people to get behind it. Feel free to add your two cents on there if you'd like them to take it seriously.
  24. I posted as much on their FB page and they did respond. Would be nice to get other briskodans chipping in with the request and perhaps they will do so http://www.facebook.com/Skoda.uk/posts/362236843844198?notif_t=feed_comment
  25. Thanks. I think then I will spring for the X-treme Vision, as I like the whiter look and don't do THAT much night driving anyways. Pair that with the blue Diadem indicators, and Bluevision sidelights, should be good to go. What are the odds of buying fake ones from a good-rated seller on ebay? EDIT: will go with Amazon instead as I feel more secure in that. But diadems are different there than ones elsewhere.... Which ones are real?
