  1. I've found I can get the Maps from abroad for a fraction of the price. Anyone wants this info then private message me.
  2. What I've found out from the Skoda Dealership, is that the SD slot in the glove box is only for Media such as music and is not to upgrade the Kenwood Software. The SD slot for doing upgrades is in the unit itself and the Glove Box needs to be removed to get at it. That said, the SD maps is about £103, and the labour for removing the Glove Box might take the cost up to near £150. I bit of a bugger cost wise when map upgrades should be done at least every year. I'd be grateful for any advice on removing the glove box. If I can DIY it, I will fit a SD ribbon extender from the Kenwood, so that I will be able to get at the SD slot in future with out this work. Someone on this Forum said the extenders are available on Ebay etc.
  3. Like I said I've been back to the Main Skoda Dealership I bought the car from and they too have no answers. When I bought the car I was told software and maps could be downloaded for free off the internet. That proved to be wrong and from what I see, map upgrades cost a great deal of money, that's if you can find them anywhere. I've located a seller abroad who is very reasonable and will try one of theirs to see if it will work. Kenwood have so far been a complete waste of time. It cost a lot of money to have the Kenwood upgrade fitted, so it is very disappointing to find there is no service afterwards. They just answered my email today, but have not come up with any answers so far.
  4. Mine is the Kenwood GVN60 with Garmin Maps. Recently a message came on the screen to say the Maps were out of date, then the Nav would not work. After a week it began to work again but the Map Graphics did not look the same. When I bought the car new I was told that updates could be downloaded on the internet, but both myself and the Dealership have now given up on that. I've contacted Kenwood by email but they are unhelpful and they said go back to the dealer. Now Kenwood will not answer my emails. I've looked on the Garmin site and it says go to Kenwood, but Kenwood does not have any Maps to download on their site. It's a very sad state of affairs that Kenwood take more than £500 for the upgrade, but then give such terrible service. I've tried contacting them on their Facebook Page but although they sent a message that they would get back to me they haven't. This my last email to Kenwood, but no reply from them. I’m absolutely perplexed by my situation and am now very regretting having bought your device. May I take you you through my predicament. 1. The Navigation stopped to say my maps are out of date and then stopped working for about a week. 2. When it commenced to work again the appearance of the maps looked to be different. Every now and again I get a message which says my maps are out of date and to go to Garmin.com. 3. When I go to Garmin.com it says for maps go to Kenwood.com. When I do this it says there are no map updates available. 4. It says I need to update the software first, but when I download what it says is the appropriate software my GVN60 fails to recognise it. 4. I contacted you by email and you say go back to the dealer who sold you the car and Kenwood upgrade. 5. They are as perplexed as I am and have tried to obtain advice from you but you fob them off. 6. I now have a extremely expensive Kenwood device which does not function properly, but am unable to gain any interest from Kenwood to resolve the problem. 7. May I say that your instructions on downloading and installing new device software does not work and needed to tested by the author with a inexperienced user before presenting it to the public. I hope you can be more helpful.
  5. I thought I'd update you guys on the latest. Some of you had rightfully suggested Trading Standards might be the appropriate people to deal with this dealership. I visited their office address yesterday. The entrance was locked so I pressed the bell . An intercom voice asked what I wanted. I said Trading Standards. I was then told, They will not let you in unless you've first contacted them by email. I said there was no email address on their web site and that it was a crazy situation. The voice said yes but, that's it. I then went to my Bank situated around the corner and while being served related my experience to the Bank clerks. One said she was dealing with one of the TS Officers that night and would pass my details on to contact me, which I agreed to. This morning I received a phone cal from Trading Standards. I was told they did not deal with the public anymore and I should go to Citizens advice. For anyone interested in more of this, I think it better if we did it through a private message, if possible?
  6. I just reset it on my Fabia Mk3. The Buttons below the display are used - for this sequence Button "0.0" is "A" and Button "SET" is "C" 1. Ignition OFF - press Button "C" and hold. 2. Ignition ON - Release "C" and Press "A" and hold for 20 seconds. 3. Hold Button "A" and wait for Display to return on screen. The Oil warning Service should then not return.
  7. I assure everyone that what I've said is the absolute truth. I would have much preferred it had not happened. Skoda UK investigated it and after contacting the other Agents involved they accepted it was genuine. Skoda UK sent me an email to say the amount of the attempted fraud could be used at any Dealership and I should copy their email and present it when having any work done. What I wanted was for them to also take Simpson to task to make sure it did not happen again to someone else. Oh, and also to compensate me for the time and miles I had covered in my car to get the evidence.
  8. I assure everyone that this that what I have said is the absolute truth. I would have much preferred it was not the case. Skoda UK investigated it and after contacting the other Agents involved and accepted it was genuine.
  9. When I first raised the Fault light with the Service manager, I just happened to mention that on a previous Fabia I'd bought off them a warning light had appeared and it turned out to be a faulty Lambda Probe. Maybe that gave him the idea.
  10. That's correct. When no fault or damage was showing, the 2nd Technician asked me to inspect the car with him in the workshop. He'd laid the harness along the top of the engine and allowed me to run my fingers along the length. It was clean and shiny and I said, it looks and feels like brand new and the technician agreed with me.
  11. After finding that the fault claims were false, I did then take it up with the owner, Neil Simpson. He initially stated (over the phone) he would keenly investigate the matter, but added his Service Manager would be absent the following day. When I did receive any result, I contacted Neil Simpson again to ask why. That was when things began to get a bit nasty. I do have a copy of the Simpsons quotation for repairing the damage which states: "fire damage caused lamba probe damage." "Replace Lamba Probe and wring repairs" No one would have wished this event not to have happened more than I did. I valued the previous service and relationship I had with staff at Simpsons Skoda, but most of those I knew no longer work there.
  12. Thanks for your views fordfan, but I don't think you've fully understood. Please read through again.
  13. After you thought, could I ask for some more advice from you more experienced members. If I placed this information on the Skoda Agent's section, would a heading and a link to this section of posts be a good way? Then they'd see all the views.
