Back Again !
Hi people, after a Skoda hiatus since 2019 (but still VAG, apart from one), We have a Skoda coming back into our family. We should be collecting the wife's Scala 1.5 Monte Carlo Manual tomorrow, an ex demo car.

Unleashing the Power of OBDeleven: A Must-Have for SKODA Owners
Hey guys, I am a little confused ... I bought a dongle way back, and when it went to subs I got free lifetime VAG Pro account. But I still have to pay for one click ? seems odd. Having read Gizmo's post, perhaps I should do it manually. Where might I find instructions for making the default "off" for lane assist for a Scala ?

So Scala owners, what do you think to your car ?
Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply. I wasn't aware of the auto hold still being there, so thanks for that. Yes the DSG has its foibles, but I love the system, I had it on the last 2 Skoda's and the last SEAT I owned. I was hoping to see 50 mpg on the trip computer, and its reassuringly likely from your report that I might I still think as the monte Carlo is the top spec, it is missing some gadgets, but in reality its got at least the essentials. Lane control is something that I don't like too, I do have OBD11 so although I haven't used it for a while, I think I might have enough credit to at least make that default to off ! Not sure If the MC has cruise TBH ? I know my wife won't use it but I may when we go on hols, my last cars have had adaptive so I will feel a little shortchanged either way 😄 Likewise I am used to Kessy, This Keyless is entry only, still needs the key in ignition (another odd half way house decision from the accountants dept. no doubt). But That pano roof is just so nice to have, I can forgive the other (my perceived) shortcomings in spec. The upshot is we test drove a 1.5 DSG a couple of days ago, and we liked it, but it was stretching our budget, so after we decided to go for a manual I returned today to take one out for a spin. Oddly the car felt to ride a little better than the DSG (no reason it should, same spec wheels, tyres and suspension). But I found the gearbox positive and smooth, the clutch plenty light enough for the other half. So we should be picking our Scala Monte Carlo Manual at the end of the week as long as we can get our ducks in a row (for once, if there is to be a hold up it will be our end 😚).

So Scala owners, what do you think to your car ?
I would be interested in hearing both the good and bad you are finding, also if you could tell me what engine/gearbox and trim level do you have ? I am looking for a car for the other half,(ex demo or used less than a year old) and we have narrowed it down to 2, the Scala being one of those. I think the bells and whistles are a bit thin on this car so will be after a monte Carlo, (although I would prefer the smaller wheels and softer suspension of the SE and SE-L!). I also dont tend to like 3 cyl enignes and it does not appear to offer significantly better MPG so we are looking for a 1.5. I originally wanted the DSG for when I drive it, but having discovered it has no electronic handbrake (therefore no auto hold) I think we will plump for a manual. So, please, let us know how you are finding the car 😉

Wheel Load limit details (where to find it)?
No not ev specific, I have decided on Goodyear vector gen3, after narrowing it down to those and the Michelin CC. Mostly because the GY are a little more wet biased than the dryer bias on the Michelins.

Wheel Load limit details (where to find it)?
@SurreyJohn Interesting, that was not something I had considered, but I see your point, thank you. The 630kg standard wheel load information was provided by @varooom, I did not know that either so thanks varoom @toot Yes I have the car now. I plan on running all seasons, but did not want to end up with 4 tyres alone, if/when the car is replaced as I found out its not easy to shift just tyres. I wanted to be able to just swap the wheels back to stock and have a wheel/tyre set either to sell or to use on the next car. I have found an aftermarket set I am happy with after some searching, and they are load rated for 690kg, so in excess of the stock ones. However, they are not cheap, so I have also been keeping and eye out for some decent S/H VAG wheels that are good or only need minor refurb work, but was unsure of where to find their load ratings.

Wheel Load limit details (where to find it)?
@tootWas looking to go on an 1811Kg (apparently) Cupra Born, I know the Kodiak is around 250kg or so lighter depending on engine/spec. @varooom Title edited for clarification 😄

Wheel Load limit details (where to find it)?
Ooops, not quite what I meant Varoom, I didn't explain very well ! I meant what is the wheels maximum load rating 😃 E.g. most aftermarket wheels of this size look to be in the 650-700kg range.

Wheel Load limit details (where to find it)?
Is this stamped on all OEM rims , if so what would I be looking for ? Failing that, (on the off chance) does anyone know what the 19" Triglav load limit is ?

Black & cut face 19" Extremes for sale £850
If you still have these, drop me a PM with some pics please. The tyres are of no interest (not the right size) so if you wanted to get them removed it wouldn't be a problem

EV real world range and cost to charge
ah, no free 22 or 50 charger time then, thought that sounded too good 😄

EV real world range and cost to charge
As a newbie to this, I would say clearer pricing at point of charge would be better. Personally, I will be charging at home on my night rate of 23p/kwh, but out of curiosity I have been checking out the charge points when I have been about. There is no doubt, if the government want to push for poeple to go electric they need to ensure better availability of charge points and incentivise the companies to lower prices. I can't understand why anyone pays for the likes of BP, at a monthly cost then high prices on top. As I read it, Podpoint is free for 15mins pretty much everywhere, so that may be handy FWIW, I signed up for Electroverse and Podpoint, so if I ever need to top up while out I can.

MAK wheels any good ?
After a lot of looking, I have found some wheels I like the style of to put a set of all seasons on. The brand is MAK, has anyone any experience with them ? I can see they are TUV approved, but no idea what that entails.

Ateca (no sunroof) Travall Dog Guard
Was as new, but I put it in the box and picked it up, the bottom of the box opened and it fell out, so has a few scuff marks on the top edge ! It is thits item: Seat Ateca 2016 on (no sunroof) Travall Dog Guard (dogguardsrus.co.uk) I can take a pic of scuffs if anyone is interested. I am asking for £75 collected from near Ely, Cambs. I also have a hard boot liner (as new for variable/spare wheel equipped) I will throw in with the sale.

Safe caliper to inner rim clearance ?
As far as I can discover 340x27 on the e boost compared to 330x23 on the regular version, if the above pic is the 17's on a 340 disk, 18's should have loads of room !
-
Safe caliper to inner rim clearance ?
So, in theory, 1 inch smaller wheels would be 1/2" closer to the caliper, thats 12.7 mm so 18's should leave me just over 7mm. If a wheel weight is in the area of caliper -3mm ish leaving 4mm, close but safe ?
-
Safe caliper to inner rim clearance ?
If I were to downsize my rims from 19" to 18" , what would be the minimum safe clearance between the caliper and the wheel inner rim ? Currently I have approx 20mm between caliper and inner rime on stock 19's
-
Wheel make recommendations ?
Its not for the Ateca, it will be for a Cupra Born. So same bolt pattern but for the tyre cost and comfort I want to go for 18" and they need to be ideally 7.5j for the 215 tyres, offset 44 to maintain stock fitment. Most of the Skoda 18's are 7j. Its not so much a fitment thing, Just I want t ensure whatever I buy is at least as robust as OEM, hence which aftermarket makes to avoid or favour. For some reason there doesn't appear to be much in good condition SH VAG OEM 18's atm or if there is they have tyres which aren't suitable sizes/type.

Wheel make recommendations ?
Hi All, I am thinking of getting a alternative/winter wheel and tyre combo for the car, and have been looking on wheelbasealoys at their packages. There are many makes, so without wanting to pay fortunes, but wanting to get a good quality and durable set, any I should avoid and any recommendations for makes ? I would like them to be at least as durable as OEM VAG. Looking at around £750 for wheels alone. I would normally look to find something on Kopacek, but obviously import duties are going to sting, so need to source from the UK.

EV real world range and cost to charge
Wow .... Was looking on Zap-Map .... some Instavolt 50kw chargers near me are charging 75p kwh, my day rate is half that ! Mind you, so are Octopus on some of their day rate tarrifs 😲 Edit: Actually not an uncommon price around here it appears ! Glad I won't need to rely on those.

EV real world range and cost to charge
The Octopus thing looks handy, pity it doesn't have Podpoint on there, might well sign up though, as it costs nowt Do the CCS public chargers have leads or do I need to buy one to keep in the boot ? (I Know the car comes with a Type 2). @wyx087 link used
