  1. Ah - I don't keep funds in my Paypal account, just use the credit card attached, so I guess i'm looking at a £10.40 straight payment then? Still great VFM!
  2. Due to working in Glasgow, I am able to claim travel expenses which, as well as covering my fuel costs, also leave a bit over to spend on car maintenance. Recently, I have fitted 4 new Uniroyal Rainsport 2s, and only a couple of weeks ago had both the console bushes and front wishbone bushes replaced with Powerflex versions. I fitted some nice steel wheels last week which has changed the look of the car a fair bit. Next on the agenda is discs and pads all round as the car sat for a year, not used much the year before I bought it which has resulted in the discs being a bit rusted up (beyond repair) plus i'd like to know they have been replaced for peace of mind. After that, my backbox has a large hole in the outer skin, so I have decided to go for a Mufflerectomy. Then I will probably find myself with around £250-£300 to spend and this is where I am a bit stumped. One route is to buy some JOM coilovers, but I guess I would need to factor in fitting, and alignment on top of this (plus additional insurance costs) but I cannot deny the prospect of dropping the car a bit does appeal. Second option is a remap - thinking either Shark or Angel Tuning - I have a Shark dealer very local to me! Obviously additional insurance attached to this one as well. Third option is something I have been holding off getting done - I parked my car up in Linlithgow last year when I got the train thru to Glasgow. It was not over anyones drive or anything, but when I got back to it, I found some cretin had taken a kick to both my drivers side doors. The dent has stretched the skin over the crash bar so a cheaper paintless repair is not an option - I have been quoted around £240 to get the job done. So, do I get the car up to scratch, or continue to mod and live with the dents for the timebeing (I am a little less worried about picking up further dings when it is already dented - if I get it fixed, i'm worried i'll get all "precious" again ). There is also the small matter of a RARB and Team Heko wind deflectors.... Decisions, decisions - just for fun, what would YOU do in my shoes?
  3. I'll take one off you. Is a Paypal gift payment just a Paypal payment?
  4. And the next unlucky owner of the Golf ends up spending £££ to resolve a poor running issue when all along it is because it has a wee turbo stuck on it I got some nice bits for my Fab from a Skoda mechanic who was trading his Fab in for an Octy - it was going in on the Sat so the day before we met up and swapped loads of nice bits from his car and put my old ones onto his
  5. *takes note for future reference* I'm just down he road in Penicuik - nice to have someone so nearby!
  6. Well I got them fitted today and really chuffed! Bought some round VW wheelnut covers yesterday to help finish things off. Poverty spec rawks! (Looks very much like yours above Grr666!)
  7. Thanks guys, appreciated! I knew there'd be some about, Google Search doesn't show many at all, & certainly not as cool as these ones!
  8. Yes - the Console Bush comes in 2 parts, the front wishbone bush in 2 poly with a metal sleeve and by all accounts (I didn't do mine) they are dead easy to do - mine have been done in the past 3 weeks. I would advise buying new pivot bolts for the front bush as well for what they cost.
  9. I bought a set of 16" steels from the classifieds on Tue, and they are absolutely mint (thanks domhnall) I am going to get my tyres switched over from the OEM alloys on Sat as I fancy rocking the poverty spec look for a while on the Fabia. Just gotta put a few layers of Poorboys Wheel Sealant tomorrow night. Anyone got any photos of VRS on steels so I can get an idea of how they will look? Cheers.
  10. Is it wheels only? - post is slightly confusing bud. Any pics? (Silver or black?)
  11. So these ones then? http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Fabia_1.9_2005/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-friction/brake-pad/?101441398&1&2a19409108237b6b72d9b2160706125617b4f2ec&000036 ECP site is a tad confusing!
  12. What suspension are you running mate? Your wee Fab is looking pretty much how i'd like mine to end up!
  13. OK, i've had a search around here and there seems to be a bit of conflicting information, so I was hoping that someone who has actually ordered and fitted brake discs/pads from ECP could confirm the correct part nos. I will be getting a local indy to fit these so can't take a hit with the wrong gear. The bits i'm looking at buying are: Front Discs (Part Number: 104440798) - http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Fabia_1.9_2005/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-friction/brake-disc/?104440798&1&d4bd70ae5a9e5a77c4832a10e9d1dde567e978c3&000027 Front Pads (Part Number: 101440418) - http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Fabia_1.9_2005/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-friction/brake-pad/?101440418&1&3712b731285652f2306c20ba07419ac6609ee3f8&000036 Rear Discs (Part Number: 104440748) - http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Fabia_1.9_2005/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-friction/brake-disc/?104440748&1&6c0b488ed75c1834e6e43c95bb3fd60ca6ef41f6&000027 Rear Pads (Part Number: 101440328) - http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Fabia_1.9_2005/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-friction/brake-pad/?101440328&1&45c1df77fe33f5f357af70a5211d6ec8181c0d18&000036 Thanks for any advice guys.
  14. Rear silencer has a hooj hole in the outer skin so I guess not long until it is properly holed. That's the reason for rushing through the mufflerectomy. Brakes first tho - all round! Just debating whether to go 312mm or not...
  15. Got the car back last night, and even in the appalling weather I could tell things were vastly improved! No more creaking, knocking for a start, but the combination of poly bushes front and rear on wishbone, coupled with a proper 4-wheel alignment makes it feel like a new car. Can't wait to get a RARB fitted now...(only it'll need to wait until after new brakes and mufflerectomy).
  16. Only joking Fab went in today to get the fron twishbone bushes replaced with powerflex, 4 weeks after the Console bushes got done with powerflex. Bought new pivot bolts as well as I suspect the old ones are a bit "sticky". Really missed my wee car, for various reasons, it's been sitting on the drive for the last 3 weeks :( Got to the garage this morning, and noticed my OSR calliper is sticking a bit - also at the weelend noticed my aircon is leaking (got regassed about 6 weeks ago) as the guy put a double dose of the green dye in - and it's now dripping from the area under the battery. I seem to be having to shell out a wee bit on the car just now - still needs a mufflerectomy and could do with new brakes all round - I guess it's at that age where things maybe need refreshed. Hopefully get it back with new bushes and full 4 wheel alignment later tonight - cannae wait!
  17. Thanks mate - unfortunately don't have time to get to a main dealer for at least next 2 weeks so gonnae bite the bullet and order them up - paying £2.20 for the privilege of delivery but at the moment, that is my only option! Thanks for confirming.
  18. Hi guys, just looking to order up a pair of new pivot bolts to go with my Powerflex front wishbone bushes (had the console bushes done 2 weeks ago with Powerflex). Can someone confirm whether this is the correct bolt please? http://www.skodaparts.com/product/fabia-bolt-for-track-control-arm-2000-2007-23172 Thanks in advance, Steven
  19. OK, dropped the car off at the local garage and they have said it's front front wishbone bushes! Going to order a set of powerflex ones, and get some new 18mm bolts at the same time. My biggest headache is my mate who tends to do most of my work is unable to help for a while, and my next choice guy is also busy. The garage I took the car to want to replace whole new wishbones with standard front bushes already fitted, but i'd prefer to replace with poly bushes so have to wait until someone can do it. Car has been off the road for 1.5 weeks now - meaning 4 hour+ commute to Glasgow from where I stay - I need my wee Fabia back on the road :(
  20. Unfortunately it's not easy! A quick Google should bring up some information though - forewarned is forearmed and all that!
  21. Be wary - there are a lot of fakes about on ebay claiming to be proper Monsters. I bought mine from Creation Watches (and have also bought a couple of G-Shocks from him as well) and would recommend buying from them. My black monster is my daily beater, unless I know i'm gonna get manky, then out comes one of the G-Shocks instead.
  22. I had poly bushes fitted to the console bushes on my Fabia last week. My mate who fitted them said he had a nightmare getting the old bushes off/out - it looks like the car had been fitted with the updated ones (not Cupra) at some stage. I did around 150 miles on Sunday with no issues, but as the week has gone on, i've been aware of the odd metallic clunk noise, mostly at slow speeds and when turning right. It has now gotten so bad I am reluctant to drive the car. I jacked it up last night and had a look but nothing obvious. When the load was taken off the NSF the noise stopped (when turning the steering). The ARB bushes look fine, as do the droplinks. My mate did say getting the bolt back in for the wishbon front bush was anightmare, and I think this may be the cause of my problems. It does feel very tight, but I wondered if there was a bit of play possibly in that area which could be causing the issue? Has anyone ever had problems with the front bush after upgrading the rear ones? I wondered if the added stiffness of the rear was somehow affecting the front, failing that, maybe removal/refitting has caused an issue. Any ideas? I can wait until my mate can have a look but he's mega busy just now so it could be off the road for a while!
  23. Well my saga with the Engine Coolant Sensor continues... my mechanic mate had a look at it over the weekend, when he was doing an oil service and fitting my Poly console bushes. He couldn't see anything obvious with the wiring - no breaks, water ingress, etc. He did say, when moving the wires about, it did result in the CEL coming on/going off, etc. so I think it's definitely a wiring issue. My next step is to replace the sensor plug so I was planning to source one with a few inches of wire attached and get it soldered in place of my own one - in case it's the actual plug that's at fault. Does anyone know if this plug/the coolant sensor are generic parts - i.e. can I take the part of something like a different spec Fabia, Octavia or even another VAG group car? My access to breaking VRS is not great hence why I ask! Cheers.
  24. Turn the stereo up and try not to think about it - works for me
