  1. 100% straight through pipe here...
  2. do try mate - thing is it'd be great to know an accurate kerb weight for a variety of cars on here...
  3. depends what you're after - I hear that blueflame is the best-sounding/performing aftermarket one. For totally hard-core free-flowing, and on the cheap too:rofl: you can't beat a decat and straight pipe (no back box). I didn't do it myself but I hear that making the rear section bigger diameter pipe gives it a deeper sound.... I'm well-pleased with my straight pipe system - I know that there isn't any more efficient as far as performance..... As far as sound - well I have the cabin sound-proofed. but even before it, it was fine as far as I'm concerned. And I do like to wind the windows down to hear the turbo and the exhaust...... Just my 2p worth.... HTH Bas
  4. Just out of interest - how easy is it for you to get a proper weightbridge weight of the vehicle with only you in it? Methinks it will be lighter than the official figures - minus 3 large Czech passengers and a full size spare..... Will help in knowing the true power to weight ratio of this beast when all is said and done......
  5. Richard Washbrook has now got his own tuning site up (oscarli.com)! Nice to see that he has a UK-wide network of dealers supplying his maps too- Having had two of his maps in my car and having spent some time discussing mapping with him - all I can say is that this is gonna be a great resource to fellow Briskodians! Dunno if I am allowed to post this up of not - but this news should be of interest to our members here on this site. And a guy who would tweak his own 1.9PD maps on a daily basis and race it as well, really must know his stuff. And it shows Well done Rich! Bas [EDIT] found a table of remap figures for skoda: Oscarli
  6. missed that particular bit of innuendo, ta...
  7. Dunno about CPU's (!) but a plate of glass and extremely fine grit sandpaper can bring up a mirror finish on metals.....
  8. See what I mean? started already.....
  9. Another one of those times I miss being in the UK! Hope it doesn't get too out of control, heard those Fish n Chips meets can be pretty wild.....
  10. just wait till you get your electric bill......
  11. Umm, better to ask at the place - sealant is what most of the stuff usually is - but adhesive is different, as the mechanic who re-stuck my old rear spoiler found out. Spoiler flew off on the motorway. Luckily replaced under warranty.... http://briskoda.net/forums/fabia/rear-spoiler-came-off-motorway-today/94548/
  12. Few pics and some tips on a neat mod... Finally got round to fitting the Forge Rear Strut Brace this morning. Really pretty simple, but a bit fiddly…Took me 30 minutes to do on my own. Done on my black vRS but there are a couple of pics from WW's silver estate here also... Tools needed: 15mm Allen key Kraft knife Medium Adjustable wrench Smallest jeweller’s screwdriver or ice pick or coat hanger Channel lock pliers or large adjustable wrench The supplied two side bolts have a smaller bolt installed to help the guide them into their holes. You remove the smaller bolts after you get the short fat bolt secured into its hole. Fold the rear seats forward. 1- Working from the rear doors, pull up the trim around the clip that holds the rear seats locked back. 2- Unscrew the rubber stopper by twisting it with your fingers 3- Locate the hole near the rear seat clip - nice pic courtesy of WW - that's the one right there 4- Temporarily place back the carpet trim 5- Feel for the hole underneath and stick any sharp object of your preference (!) through the carpet trim into the hole. I used an ice pick but a small jeweller’s screwdriver or cut bit of coat hanger would do. This accurately locates the bolt for when you have to trim back the carpet. 6- Fold back the trim again, leaving the tiny screwdriver, ice pick hanging for now 7- Remove the nut and washer and insert the large Allen key into the bolt. 8- Thread it into the hole. It goes through the hole misaligned at first but straightens itself out as you progress. 9- Try to straighten it as you give it a few hard twists with the Allen key. As the bolt straightens it gets easier. 10- When you have enough of the short bolt’s thread showing, and not before – place the lock washer over it and start tightening with the adjustable crescent wrench. It’ll be hard at first, and suddenly get easier as the bolt aligns properly with the hole. Tighten up properly and give the Allen key a whack to get it out… 11- Remove the little guide bolt from the main one with your fingers – you won’t need it anymore. Another neat pic from WW showing how the bolt should look all installed: 12- Replace the rubber stopper in its hole 13- Fold back the carpet trim, making sure that the tip of the ice pick/screwdriver fits into the centre of the large bolt, thus locating where you need to cut keeping all the trim in its original position. 14- Press firmly onto the carpet around the ice pick. Using the Kraft knife VERY carefully cut down onto the bolt top and around its upper edge. As you work away, the bolt will pop through and you can cut around it neatly. The trim stretches slightly around the bolt. No picture here as I kinda need my fingers 15- Replace the trim 16- Screw the shiny bar to its shortest length. 17- Twist the bar ends by hand, screw it onto the two side bolts tightly 18- Tighten up the bar’s centre adjusting nut tightly using channel lock (pipe) pliers carefully or find a huge adjustable wrench. Do up the two locking nuts to prevent it unscrewing. 19- Wipe down the shiny chrome with a soft cloth 20- Done!
  13. {EDIT} Having heard those same type of negative comments made me put this mod off till recently - but they were wrong IMHO. It rocks and should be higher up on the list of Fabia mods to do:D....
  14. Courtesy of Mort - what do you think of this variation - no grille at all just mesh:
  15. I got round to fitting my Forge rear strut brace this am. Really pretty easy DIY- I've put up a mini guide with pics http://briskoda.net/forums/technical-guides/pictorial-guide-fitting-forge-rear-strut-brace/103057/. Took me about half an hour to do.... Driving in same 20km stretch to work this pm - I just love it! Although the guys at Forge modestly say that it is more bling than performance - I can report that it really does tighten up the rear and reduce body flex - to a degree that you can truly appreciate. Going in to the first sweeping bend, rear felt more planted and the car response to steering input feels more positive....Quick (careful!) lane changes even more controllable. Very much 'Go-Kart like'.... Too bad the Bahrain Police were augmenting their revenue with radar, otherwise I would have been able to comment on triple-digit performance as well :D By coincidence, mate WW got his fitted couple of days ago to his estate - and he felt it reduced bodyflex noticeably. He was of the opinion that it'd be less of a mod to a Fabia vRS - NOT! Posted some pics in the guide - it's lightweight (@Jase:)) - in fact I was surprised by how light - WW said that the Front + Rear Forge braces together are lighter than the SEAT one on its own. Screwed in tight - it's rigid and solid - just hope E-E doesn't try giving someone a tow with it, that's all Cheers Bas
  16. Thanks mate - really interesting look to it, I must say..... Any opinions on the look?? Cheers Bas
  17. worth a try I guess.... Oh and a bit of Duck tape for the alignment problem.....
  18. Can anyone photoshop a black Fabia - front view with the OEM grille chrome section removed entirely and black mesh put in the entire area? Just toying with an idea which would save me the hassle of getting a Milotec from UK and painting it, etc etc.... Thanks:thumbup: Bas
  19. Dont start summat you can't finish! I for one want to know what happened, lol
  20. Jase - been avoiding this thread for a bit... You have out-done yourself - it is drop-dead gorgeous!!! Cheers Bas
  21. on-topic - had a blast with my Fabia this pm - great fun. How fast it is or not - irrelevant personally.......Great fun... Perhaps a thread on who has the biggest handbag might be more in order???
  22. Hit from the from front RHS by a motorbike that lost it going round a corner?
  23. Whatever car you have - whether a Ferrari or a Fiat or a Fabia or whatever - as long as YOU are happy with it - that's all that matters. Off topic: Can we get back to fun/informative/friendly discussions? - there's been way too many personally insulting downright deliberately aimed-to-upset type posts recently on Briskoda...... If anybody feels inadequate - find another forum to post up thinly-veiled insults on and don't waste good server time on here! (fed up with the number of raised handbags) Bas :lol
