  1. Can someone point me to what indicator there is that a regen is taking place? Had a citroen years ago that did something similar and that was obvious due to noise and smell. Not noticed the superb doing it even once - car is 14 months old and at 16k miles. Thanks Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  2. Thankyou so much. Found out that the ones that weren't pairing with the car had +44 on the mobile numbers - have removed that and just added 0044 and all ok. That's been a pain for 8 months! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  3. I have over 800 and they all show from my blackberry. I have a Samsung s3 and 1 contact (at least - I haven't tried to call them all) doesn't ever appear in the phone book. I've even deleted them and re input them and still no joy. Could be phone related. I think I have over 1800 contacts on the 3 phones that are paired to the car. So shouldn't an issue unless the pairing doesn't compete? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  4. I wish I could get close to the wear some of you guys are getting - I've never previously been hard on tyres - except in an xr2 many many years ago. Previous car was a 2.5 ton land cruiser which after 45,000 miles still had 5mm of tread on the rears and the front pair got changed at 38,000. The continentals were down to 2mm (and replaced) after 12,500 miles - even wear across both tyres and the rears have no more than 2.5mm left on them now (at just under 16,000 miles). Are the 18" ones a softer compound? I've had Falken stuck on the fronts and the noise/wear/drip appears pretty good so far so I guess I will add another pair on the back in the next month or 2. Car is mostly driven at a leisurely pace with just me sat in it.
  5. I work from home and was thinking of one of these or one of the many Renault electric vehicles that are imminent. Most of my trips during the week are under 50 miles - but when I do the calculations I still always came out that a small normal car (petrol or diesel) would always work out far far cheaper overall, and far more flexible. I also worried about the life and cost of the batteries and environmental impact of their eventual replacement. Then only way I could see it saving me money is if I gave it to my missus and the range was just short of the nearest large shopping centre......... I'd be really interested if you could keep updating on here as to how you are getting with it. Good luck - must say I'm tempted to take a test drive. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  6. I've just renewed with LV for a 3rd year, £303 protected NCB, fully comp in Europe for multi trips, Premium loan car and legal cover. excess is £150 annual 25,000 miles including a declared 18,000 business miles. tried a couple of comparison sites and wouldn't have saved enough to worry about changing but could have paid £500+ and then AVIVA which was £ 450. very happy especially as I had a side window bricked in December. Myself and wife as named drivers 46 & 45.
  7. Not sure if the fact it was a French lorry is relevant but 4 years ago I was re-ended by a French driver on a roundabout on the med coast. I had 3 kids in the car, and was on a dangerous corner so didn't hang about, and after exchanging insure details we both drove off. I took photos but again no witnesses and no police. Took me just over 36 months to receive half my losses..... Without witnesses and a police report you have no chance of proving who was in the right. I think 50 percent maybe as good as it gets. Glad my no claims was protected. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  8. I had this problem when I was in France in the summer - changed it no problem to French analogue(secam) and then had a hell of a job to get it back to digital (France uses the same system as us for digital) can't remember what I did - but it wasn't intuitive and then I stumbled on the correct setting - I think it was country first - then digital. Sorry I can't be more specific - think you just need to try everything! I'm finding dvb radio reception really good as well now - used to drop-out a lot but it's ok now - Kerrang radio is ace!
  9. I saw my first one today. Was outside a neighbours house and turned out to be a vindis demonstrator. Blue mettalic and my first thoughts were it was smaller than I thought it would be and by god it was forgettable. If that one was one of the £20k models it looks £5k - £7k too much. 10. Worked for me last month - came on and rear tyre was down by 15psi. The rears were pumped up to max as I'd been carrying 3 kids and luggage. I reckon the light came on when the pressure was almost 30% down. Due to a couple of factors I just stuck a compressor on it and brought it up to pressure - the warning light came on again the following day and I again added air and had time to get the wheel off. I had a nail in the centre of the tyre which was repaired for 15 quid. without the warning I'd have ruined the tyre.
  11. its in the new edition (Jan 2013 dated) page 31 - gets the thumbs up if priced correctly.
  12. Autoglass is the default for the insurance company and as it was still pouring with rain they said I could leave it with them under cover and get a cab to where I'm working. They are fitting a perspex one later today.
  13. Had the passenger side window smashed last night. Not sure if the lack of a lock on the glove box was a bonus or not - with the exception of glass everywhere - little damage other than to wallet. Lost an ipod and a dab radio and a credit card that I'd left in the glove box out of habit as I'd once forgot my wallet when I refuelled. Car full of water but I'm not sure the alarm went off? PITA this morning though - I'm away working for the next 7 days and the local Skoda dealer was no help at all - suggested they could get the glass on Tuesday, Autoglass can get one on Monday and are fitting a temporary perspex panel today. Has anyone had a temporary repair like this and if so what's the car like to drive and will it be secure (well I guess the glass window wasn't!) The one thought I had when I got a skoda was that it wouldn't be the target of low lifes and thieves - my previous car had a list price of £50k and wasn't touched in 4 years.....
  14. Just realised the s doesn't have electric rear windows or aircon. I'd consider both essential as I have 3 kids and like the ability to open or close their windows and no way can I drive a car without air conditioning. Add in the essential 3rd headrest and it comes out at £17,300 for the cheapest diesel SE. I want the boot space but I think a 12 month old focus would suit me better as a second car or maybe a late model Octavia... Be interesting to see what these are priced at as the dealer demo's come on the market in 5 months. and I wonder what this means for Octovia III prices?
  15. I'm 6 foot tall, 16 stone and a 36 waist. Have no issues at all. This afternoon I've driven 200 miles and have got out the car ache free. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  16. I traded my lc 120 for the superb. I did 34000 miles on the original Dunlop rubber before the fronts needed replacing - mostly due to the edges wearing - the rears still had 6mm left at 40,000 miles. Years ago I had a mondeo that ate front tyres - 70k a year and a new front set every 3 months. I definitely drive the cars harder than big 4x4's though so not an easy comparison. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  17. Just checked the front continentals on my superb and they are almost on the wear indicators - so probably have about 3.5mm left on them. I've done 12,000 miles - so I guess these will be shot by the time I do another 3000, just in time for Christmas! Couple of questions - is 15k reasonable for the front? (backs are ok - probably 5mm left) and what brands should I consider? size is 225-40-r18-92y Thanks - We have Hankooks on our kia soul (with 18" rims) and these have done almost 40k miles and still have plenty of life left - so would consider these as a starting point.
  18. That could be it - I synced the fone via outlook for the first time yesterday. Previously just sinc'd with Google. Will have a play. Thanks Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  19. done that - all contacts are on the phone but I've tried the sim and the phone options. There is nothing unusual about the contacts either. I hate things like this - wouldn't have noticed normally but this number is one I call 3 - 4 times a day when I'm in the car and working.
  20. I've been playing around with my galaxy s3 and the blue tooth etc and realised when I received a call yesterday the number not the name of the contact came up. Previously their name did appear on the car display..... after the call I went into the address book and they weren't there. I did an address book update and that didn't help and I've now deleted and re-paired the phone to the car but this contact still doesn't appear. I'm not how many others it affects ( I have definitely found a couple more) but I call and get called from this one all the time so its a total pain. in the s3 I have 500+ contacts (lots email only) and on the car I have 184 (I guess these all have phone numbers on the phone) in the s3 address book the missing contact would be in the middle of these - not at the start or end. Just wondered if anyone else had found the same and how they sorted it? I may just recreate the contacts concerned but I don't see why it doesn't just work. thanks Ian
  21. Yes the only extra on my car. Otherwise it was all standard l&k. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  22. I was planning on trading our Kia soul in for a rapid - but not now - they want too much cash for the spec, for us at least. Getting pretty close to Golf money! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  23. I have an l and k - registered in Jan 2012 as a dealer demonstrator and I was told the interior auto mirror was the only extra on top of the l and k pack. I definitely have the exterior auto mirrors Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
  24. If he gave any of those accountants his name they should have reported him to the authorities under the money laundering rules and proceeds of crime legislation. they have no discretion on this or risk a fine and maybe prison themselves. Sobhe may all ready be on the radar..... Don't understand the receipts bit at all though Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
