  1. Yeti 1.2 DSG - 6 months old - done 5,000 miles. Driving along slowly today - (traffic queue) then noticed that the gearbox was stuck in D2. When I accelerated engine just revved and stayed in D2. Flipped into manual - could not move up or down out of D2. Stopped car - turned off engine - turned it back on and it had cleared itself - drove off OK. Anyone else experienced this? Any ideas why it might have happened? Phoned my Skoda garage and they said - if it happens again, bring it in.

  3. Thanks for this Before I order the recommended Torx rachet set, does anyone know - is one of the 2 supplied torx keys ( T15 / T20) the correct size for the mudflaps job?
  4. Loving my new Yeti, which is very much living up to my high expectation - but the first trip on muddy lanes showed that mudflaps are necessary. Not wanting to pay £60 for fitting, I ordered them from a Skoda Dealer (so they are genuine) on ebay. Now I am wondering - do I need any 'special' tools, or will an allen key do? A friend is coming to fit them for me - and he was asking me what tools he should bring, or whether I had all the tools he would need? I only have a 'domestic' tool kit, and nothing specifically 'auto'. (but he has) One web site i looked at said that the job was much easier if the wheels are removed. Really dont want to do that! Any other tips for fitting them?
  5. Simple solution - drive an automatic. You never stall, are always in (pretty much) the correct gear - and no way could you end up doing 15 mph in 6th!
  6. Mine was 2 to 3 weeks from build week 34 to delivery Monday of week 37 It certainly seems that delivery times (from order to dealer) are shortening. Mine was a week over 2 months (and thats for a DSG, which at one time had the longest wait) Scarcity value has helped keep new prices (and 2nd hand values) high . . . so maybe they will now both of them start to decline (not much help to me though LOL)

I think you pretty much get what you pay for in this life. it is probably possible to find a dealer somewhere in UK who will offer you a discount on a Yeti thru a broker - because when you go to DtD or Autoebid etc all they are doing is acting as an intermediary between you and a dealer. But you may well find that you go the end of a very long queue. Personally I went to my nearest Dealer - I got a reasonable discount on the list price - and I took delivery of my new car (1.2 TSI DSG) 2 months after placing the order. I also know that if I have a problem I have just a 10 mile drive to the dealer to sort it out. Yes I know you can take your Skoda into your local dealer if you have a problem, and they are obliged to sort it under the guarantee - but don't tell me they will fall over themselves to help if they know you bought it via the internet from a dealer 300 miles away With the other cars in the Skoda range there is a 'No VAT' offer. Dealers have to pay £1,000 of that discount, and Skoda UK cover the rest. So . . . it ought to be possible to get £1,000 off the price of your Yeti from your local dealer. Also, as the recession deepens and the winter comes on and car sales slacken, and Yeti waiting times get shorter (as I think is beginning to happen) prices should ease and discounts become more widespread even on Yetis. I wouldn't be too surprised to see the Yeti added to Skoda's 'No VAT' offer in the foreseeable future - maybe even the next price list. 6 months ago all DSG models were excluded - then in the April price list all DSG models (EXCEPT Yeti) were included.
  8. Hmm - might just be me - but I'm not sure I would get a lot of comfort (if I had a puncture at the side of the road ) by reflecting that my spare wheel was kept in the garage back home. Kinda defeats the object I would have thought?
  9. Hill hold on the DSG isnt (I think) an option, it comes as standard - but is not an available (nor necessary) with a manual. It is actually very useful and puts right (IMHO) the only weakness of the DSG system compared with a 'standard' automatic. I have just sold my SEAT DSG (with no Hill hold) and now have the SKODA DSG (with hill-hold) and I consider it a great improvement. I also went for a spare wheel in the boot BUT be aware that it takes up a lot of room that otherwise would be available for luggage. When I took delivery I was surprised/disappointed how much boot space I had lost by having a spare wheel. However, I just like the security of a spare wheel on board.
  10. I have had my Yeti a month now - and just the other day could not work out why the interior lights wouldnt go out when I locked the car. Sat reading thru the handbook . . . then noted that the maxidot was telling me the boot was open . . . . it looked closed to me - but I re-opened it - closed firmly - and that did the trick. internal light problem now sorted.
  11. Ah well . . . I see that the usual pleasant comradely spirit of some members of this forum (happily a small minority) is beginning to re-emerge from the woodwork once again.
  12. Fascinating video! Particularly poignant as my little Yeti is scheduled to be built this very week. It was like watching her birth-pangs! LOL I am old enough to remember the days of British 'hand-built' cars of the 60s and 70s - like British Leyland - the human assembly teams led by the likes of shop-steward "Red Robbo". The workforce spent more time holding meetings and on strike than they ever did building cars! And their 'friday afternoon' models were legendary - you had to hope and pray you hadn't got one: everything put together any-old-how in a mad rush to get away early for the weekend. Personally I put a lot more confidence in a car assembled by Czech robots!
  13. I don't think I have much interest in any Forum on the BRISKODA site (nor any reason to post therein) other than on the YETI Forum. I did not join BRISKODA because of any general interest in Skodas - but because of a personal interest in Yetis in particular. Early on in my membership I read (and posted) in the Octavia, Fabia and Yeti groups, in order to assist me to make the decision as to which model to buy. Since placing my order for a Yeti (which I am told will be delivered next month) I have only read and posted in the Yeti Group - and I have received a lot of valuable help. And if owners of another species of Skoda have something of interest to say to a post made in the Yeti group, or some insight to add - that seems to me excellent and to be valued. But (see my previous post in this thread) I have sometimes found the tone of the Yeti group (imparted by a small but vocal clique) to be hostile to opinions contrary to theirs (especially if - horror-of horrors - that person doesn't even own a Yeti!!!) , and dismissive (often with abuse) of concerns they do not themselves share - whilst among themselves they have formed a society for mutual admiration. Joining this forum has reminded me what it was like as a schoolboy to come into a new class where there was a well established little club who felt they ruled the roost - and woe betide anyone who crossed them or was too 'different'. This thread had given me (and I think a few others) an opportunity to pop our heads above the parapet and say what we think - and to indicate the direction and tone we would like to see in the Yeti forum.

There is a sort of 'inner circle' or clique within this forum - some of whom I have noticed are extremely 'touchy' and quick to take offence, - but only if the person posting is not within their magic-circle. If any of this group were appointed as 'community leader' this forum would rapidly become even smaller - with many people being banned, or leaving of their own accord. Not infrequently people who post views which an individual with this sub-group doesn't like or agree with like are told to 'go away' and things get pretty unpleasant. I am not here speaking from personal experience, but I have seen others treated in this manner. On the other hand there are those of us who joined the Forum not for social reasons (we have a life outside of Yetidom which supplies all our social needs) but for the mutual dissemination of information and opinion related to Skodas/Yetis - and I have found some members (indeed most members) extremely helpful in this regard. I would personally prefer there to be no 'community leader' (power corrupts, and all that) but if there must be, then I would nominate either THE PLUMBER or 900000 - both of whom I have found unfailingly helpful, courteous AND knowledgeable.
