  1. i can also vouch for DTUK. andrew there is very helpful. i went for the crd-t tuning box (listed as stage 2 on their site) which adjusts fuel as well as boost and it certainly makes a difference. i want to get it RR'd soon. andy
  2. having been thinking about it for a while i finally decided to call my insurance company for a quote to fit a set of lowering springs. being 19 and driving a vrs i thought they would take the opportunity to bend me over with the price but was pleasantly surprised they only wanted an extra £40! anyway have decided to go with a set of PI 30mm springs after seeing a few guys having fitted them now (vive la revolution!). will get them fitted and post my opinions on them soon! Andy
  3. make sure your aux cable is pushed all the way in where it plugs into the car, ive found it can be a very tight fit (ooer). failing that try another aux cable
  4. although i drive a 2L tdi vRS i have noticed my mpg has increased greatly during the last few days... i reckon its the increased ambient temperature going from 4-8C to 15-18C (as shown on my cars thermometer) hopefully this weather will stay!
  5. thanks for the reply. any ideas where this screw was located? also do you mean the trim that holds the parcel shelf in place?
  6. Afternoon chaps I've searched and searched and searched for an answer to my question but whatever find usually relates to the estate or for trim that's on the actual tailgate rather than the interior trim. i'm trying to fit rear parking sensors to my vrs hatch but i can't figure out how to take apart the interior trim to get to where i need. the main bit i need to take off is the plastic trim that holds up the left side of the parcel shelf... i'm not sure if there are some hidden screws or if its just clips but i don't want to go yanking on stuff in case i end up snapping something off if anyone knows how to get this trim off then your help would be much appreciated thanks!! Andy
  7. before i swapped my fabia in for an octy i changed the horn for a set of bosch dual tone ones, easy mod if you have the right tools and the horn sounded so much better from it. i also bought a set of osram night breaker headlight bulbs as my headlights were pretty terrible from the factory... i did own an monte however so your headlights might be better than mine were anyway.
  8. I average 47-48 mpg a tank doing mostly motorway driving with a bit of town, 60 miles a day. No remap but ive heard they can improve mpg a bit...
  9. Me and my mate found that it is very easy to drop a ticket down the gap between the bottom of the windscreen and the dash... may have worked its way back from there?
  10. i believe the fuse he used was for the rear screen wiper...? if youre using the slot for the rear screen heater then that could have a constant 12v feed even with the ignition off...
  11. i know that chip tuning has been spoken about a lot on here but i was just wondering if anyones had experiances with either of these chips on the 1.2 TSI 105 engines, more in particular the DTS box as lots of people have mentioned TMC before but DTS quotes more power and is cheaper than TMC... was just hoping to get a few peoples opinions and experiences as i am looking to buy a tuning box after xmas thanks ps im not looking to get a remap as im not planning on having the car past 3 years and can sell a tuning box on

  13. mine makes this noise too and my aircon works fine. when the aircon is on and cars sat still the cooling fan also kicks in and goes quite fast to cool the condensor i imagine... d then it s off if i turn the aircon off. i imagine its becuase the hot weather is putting a bit of extra strain on the system and making it labour a bit more. i dont really see an issue with it though. if it does go kaput then i will get the dealer to have a look
  14. the thing ive noticed is that even though its an estate the boot is actually smaller than the hatchback in terms of Liters. they've made the car 18cm shorter than the hatch and have given rear passengers more leg room by the looks of it
  15. good choice my friend i think its an awesome car and the 105 TSI is surprisingly quick 10 skodas is a crazy amount :P
  16. the drivers side one was ok but i had problems getting a hand between the battery and light cluster on the passenger side. i didnt try to slide the cluster out or anything though so looks like i missed a trick there! I've never been sure on the side lights... they seem really dim to me (maybe opening a whole new can of worms here!) I usually just turn headlights straight on when daylight goes, i think my DRLs are more effective than the actual side light bulbs
  17. have a read of this http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/281403-1800-miles-in-my-monte-last-week/ i know its long but i talked about my holiday down to france for a week. car was awesome and performed really well. i would deffo reccomend
  18. same here but i used osram nighbreakers much improved... the bulbs were a barsteward to change though
  19. yeah the engine worked so well for me too. when we got to the overnight stop i realied i probably could have kept going but haven't driven tha far before in one go
