  1. Thought that may have been the case :( guess ill try and send it back I just thought it was strange that vcds detects the interface if it was a knock off cable
  2. I picked up a VCDS cable on ebay its suposedly hex/can bus ive installed vcds 11.11 curent version from the website, The test picks up the interface as expected but but it cant see the car. Tried to connect to the engine, instrument & central conv controllers but none of them respond Ive also tested the diagnostic port using a bluetooth obd2 adapter and torque on my phone and it can read as expected Do I have a duff cable or is there anything obvious im missing?
  3. Ok so one week in and the fabia has developed one of the dreaded dash creaks It seems to be coming from the cowling round the instrument pannel Can anyone tell me how the surround comes out so that i can put some padding up there to stop the squeek? Thanks
  4. Probably want in the manual I read the maxi dot pages hundreds of time trying to figure out a few bits and pieces, i ended up fiddling with buttons until i figured it out :S
  5. I remember years ago seeing an old 1.2 Nova merit in that washed out greeny blue colour held together by rust with the matching grey/brown interior smoke a scooby down the 1/4 mile guy came back round to the paddock and popped the bonnet revealing an astra 2.0 16v engine with a set of chuffing huge Nos jets
  6. I had a stroke of luck on ebay I have a cable on its way that claims to be the full on hex-can cable Ill report back once ive checked it out and if its all above board or a passable slightly shady one ill find out if there are any more
  7. not sure about the bulb failures I had a Bora that had a misfire when cold after a few mins the traction control/abs light would come on then the check engine light and the display would light up with the warning "Emmisions Workshop" when the car was warm if i stopped and restarted the engine the abs light would go out but check engine and the emmissions warning would stay. The warnings for some faults will linger for 3 periods of the engine running without the fault occurring before they clear. It may be worth getting the car checked by the garage or someone with VCDS
  8. My fabia came from the showroom with a digital speedo, its in Kph though, nice to know it can be changed Ive ordered a new lead so will see what i can get up to
  9. The 130PD engine in the Mk4 VW golf/bora could get 180bhp after the stage1 remap
  10. Ok so I dug out my cable and steam driven laptop and tried to change the door lock settings tonight and found that my software is to old and just cant see any of the controllers in the car. Sorry Snowman
  11. I got my cable and Vag-Com 3.11 (Early version of what is now VCDS Lite) from Ebay about 8 years ago I didn't get a chance last night, I know where it all is i think, I just need to charge the antique laptop its running on
  12. hi 32k yeah sensors would be fine i just figured its the same amount of wiring £30 for parking sensors vs £65 for a sat nav, camera & bluetooth handsfree and no need to bore holes in the bumper
  13. I picked up my fabia at the weekend and it was set to only open the drivers door I like it that way though I had some random jump in the passenger seat of my car one night after leaving a club at 3 in the morning
  14. I'm planning to activate the alarm beep and ant hijack doors on my Fabia tonight if i can find my leads Ill have a look in the controller and see what other little goodies are in there
  15. Thanks Guys My preferred route was stevie.d's route but looks like i need to take the roof liner partially out to get the wires in from the tailgate. and it seems that regardless of wired or wireless camera i still need to get the wires out of the tailgate and routed around the boot to the light cluster for power so I'm as well just running video and power up the car Could always go wireless and just put a moped battery inside the tailgate
  16. Try again http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?p=C333252&a=i
  17. Damn it google It definatly said fabia in the description before i opened the page to get the link
  18. Hi Folks One thing i miss on my Fabia is the parking sensors, my driveway is about the width of the car (even if the fabia is a bit narrower than the bora) and the extra snce always came in handy particularly when shoehorning the car in at night I was hunting on ebay for a set and came across the reversing camera kits. The last time i ran cables from the boot to the front of a car was fitting an amp in the boot of an old Golf Mk3 so not to many trim pannels to contend with. can anyone offer any advice on getting the cables from the camera by the numberplate on the hatchback into the car through the boot and up to the dash with as little pain as possible. From looking over the trim panels this morning it almost looks like the entire interior needs to be stripped to the shell just to get the cables from A - B out of site :(
  19. Found this kit from H&R for info <http://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/hr-25mm-front-25mm-rear-anti-roll-barsbr-leon-1m-cupra-r-18t-1199-p-300.html> Depending on the prices i may be interested in a rear bar
  20. Definitely not a whiteline bar. Whiteline has a piece of box section the bar mounts into at the ends to protect the bar from twisting if the rear suspension takes a side impact & also has adjustment holes like newbie69 said They are a worthwhile mod though I had one on my bora a few years ago Might see if i can sneak on on to the Fabia when the wife isn't looking
  21. Thanks Guys, I figured it was a long shot but with a new car as always comes the search for new toys & i do most of my driving in and out of Edinburgh at rush hour, trip computer tells me that my average speed for a 20 mile trip to work is 15-17 MPH :(
  22. Used it for a while when it first cam out (I think windows update foisted it on me and I found that the definitions update would frequently slow my laptop to a crawl. it was elderly though. Ive installed it on afew machines for people since, I may take another look at it
  23. I had a search around the interweb a few times on this subject but found people looking to build their own start stop kits with lots of peopel telling them how near impossible it is. Ive just got my hand s on a Fabia 1.6 TDI and since i spend most of my time in traffic these days i figured it would be a nice ;itt;e feature that would save a few quid. As the greenline is now available with start stop does anyone know if it is possible to add it to other motors and what would be involved?
  24. Hi Tony This is just what ive been looking for Could you Send me the diagrams please?
