Superb 1.9 TDI 130 vs Passat 1.9 TDI 130 ?
Hughp replied to Hughp's topic in Skoda Superb Mk I (2001-2008)
Thanks for all your help. I will need to change in the next month or so. The Fabia i have now has got 163'000. on the clock. I brought it with 35'000. so i have had it for a while. The engine runs very well, harldly drinks any oil, but everything else is getting more worn i.e suspension. Itis still on the original clutch, actually i have never worn a clutch out on any car or motorcycle. I am also thinking of a Roomster, but feel the Superb or Passat maybe better to drive. -
Superb 1.9 TDI 130 vs Passat 1.9 TDI 130 ?
Hughp replied to Hughp's topic in Skoda Superb Mk I (2001-2008)
Thank you all for your help. I am not bothered about the V W name more bothered about the quality of the car. Seems that the Superb will be better value. well food for thought! -
I am still considering what car to buy. I like the idea of a 1.9 TDI 130, but can not make my mind up which is the better car, the Passat or Superb? Any one had experience of these too, or able to make a comparison ? Any help will be greatfully received.

Roomster Noire (Monte Carlo type special edition)
Hughp replied to RapidRonnie's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
I think black and red interior on the Roomster sounds hideous! I think Skoda have missed the point with the colour scheme. This is not a sports car ! -
I never understand whysome stealers say "one lady owner" is it supposed to indicate the car has had a better life?. From my experience, i would rather buy a car from some one that has an understand of how the car works. This very often is not a woman !!! Rant over ; )

When checking the oil taking dip stick out and give it a wipe with a clean cloth, and then put the dipstick back in fully home. When you take it out agian it will tell you the level of the oil.

Looks like Roomster's post 2008 seem to have more faults than the earlier ones!

Have to say, i like the exterior look of the UP better. Interior, i prefer the Citigo.

I have to say i have no desire to test top speed. For me it it about the acceleration ! Lets face it your not going to test the top speed on public road in the UK unless you want the possibility of a fine! Having said that,i got the need for speed out of my system in the 1980's when it was still possible, but i was on motorbike then.

The next Skoda Roomster, artistic impression
Hughp replied to eykmak's topic in Skoda Roomster (2006-2015)
Looks good, hope it gets sunroof ! -
I have a 100pd with 161'000. miles, engine has never missed a beat. Still the same clutch too. Saying that the suspension is getting worn :(

I think you would be mad not to buy by an vRS Octy Estate for £900. more!!!

No.733 - I think Skoda are missing the point. They are displaying a Budget car (cheap plastics) with all extra's like Sports seats etc... Thus bumping the price up! If they are trying to get people to part "budget" money, then then need to be showing the standard model. Not a car that will cost as much as a Standard Octavia. Why display a budget car with Sports seats, which are very uncomfortable anyway!!!

Is the MK1 big enough for two adults and a newborn?
Hughp replied to Beancounter1980's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
And if you need that little bit extra space, then get a Fabia Estate. -

You should be fine. I managed with a Mk2 Golf for a year when my first daughter was born and i think the boot on the Mk2 is no bigger then the Fabia. Now have Fabia Estate which is great for two kids. At my daughters (kids now aged 10 & 5) school there seems to be an obsession with pleople carriers, which in my view are just not necessary for two kids let alone one. Good luck with the new addition to your family. -
Can not see the point of it ?

New tyres needed- Uniroyal Rainsport 2- Thoughts

How are they regarding fuel consumption ? -
has anyone actually ordered one or taken delivery yet?
Hughp replied to bluecar1's topic in Skoda Rapid & Spaceback (2012 > )
The cost does not justify the low quality interior. Can not understand why Skoda are putting the car in the showrooms with so called "Sporty seats". I found my Fabia with 160'000. miles more comfortabe then the Rapid. If they are trying to give the impression of a "value car" then do not big up the spec to an over inflated price. -
Thanks fordfan, that would be helpful !

Hello, Has anyone had a Sunroof fitted to an Octavia? If so what sunroof did you choose?
-
Thanks for providing this Colin, will be interesting to seem if the exterior and interior are different for the UK.

What's best fabia vrs or 118d bmw ?
Hughp replied to lannen55's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Now if i had a BMW 1d i would definetly have to invest in some winter tyers. That said it is a long time since i have had a rear wheel drive car, but driving in the snow was so much fun on the country roads of Lincolnshire. Can i ask, which car has the better reliability record BMW 1d or VRS(tdi) ?
