Replacing the Skoda Stream

I have got that e-bay lead. All good on my stream mp3 playing music from my ipod -
Ok thanks gents, ref streaming. Have just got a Bolero this week and need to see Eddie about the upgraded Canbus first. As am fitting it to my 05 Mk2 Octy, i don't have steering wheel controls or Maxidot in mine, but like the idea of streaming from iphone. Have a 3.5 jack at present in phone on a brodit mount. Cheers

AUX cable for Stream MP3 radio

E-bay item 140901050639 I fitted one of these and it is plug and play, took about 5-10 to do the whole job -
Yep have been running on / off for years. Usually only doing 10k plus, but do prefer trail running, not a great fan of on road stuff. Only ever done a single 1/2 back in Nov with GF and a work colleague. I got the colleague into running last year and he has taken to it big time and does lots more than me now. I'm a bit slack though and can take it or leave it for weeks at a time with no runs. Have a couple of events booked in March, so with give me the target i need.

Very true, have a darned good think about what trade you want to be in when you join and where that may leave you in later years, job opportunity wise. My choice of working with helicopters in the mob has led me to still be working with all these years later. The careers office bods i guess will try to steer people towards the slots they want filling as opposed to what you want to do. I assume it is still the case that you can try to move roles, but not always that easy.

Good for you Tasha I joined the RN as a Aircraft engineer many moons ago, did 8 years in total. Really enjoyed the experience and would happily do it again. Sounds like you have a positive attitude and take every opportunity that is thrown at you. If you are good at sports, get involved as that will open up lots of opportunities. Enjoy yourself and when you get to training, stay positive and don't give up. Remember all the shouting and other crap is not personal, just the way the mob try build your character :-) My motto was "water off a ducks back", meaning it's nothing personal, just let it all run over you and carry on. Enjoy

Will this work with a Stream Mp3 head unit? What wiring does it need or is it plug and play? Cheers

Audience- Stream MP3 swap
Northlodge replied to Northlodge's topic in Audio, Electronics and Security
Fitted just as suggested, a direct one for one. Only took 5 minutes to change over if that and i purchased a after market aux cable as linked below http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-AUX-IN-IPOD-MP3-FABIA-OCTAVIA-ROOMSTER-SUPERB-YETI-BOLERO-STREAM-2M-CABLE-/130842097141? Which fitted perfectly and works as hoped. Does not allow for any adjustments via the head unit, but the iphone has shuffle etc, so more than enough for me. Guess the only issue i had was when the security code request came up i pressed the wrong buttons and it went into safe mode. No probs, just leave the stereo turned on and key in the ignition for one hour. This then takes it back to the code entry page again, all sorted. -
Audience- Stream MP3 swap
Northlodge replied to Northlodge's topic in Audio, Electronics and Security
Thanks for the offer John, shall bear in mind. Mannyo, nothing more than being able to connect a aux supply and also i have some dead lines on my display. Not too much of a music buff to probably even notice much differance, but do want to be able to plug my ipod & iphone in at a reasonable cost. Stu -
Bugger, sorry to hear of the issues. Hope it get resolved fully. Not long had my 1.9tdi octy and it's in for it's first cam belt change with my local skoda dealer today. Fingers crossed it's a very rare occurance, your scenario.

Hi all, I have 05 mk2 Octavia with a audience head unit. Have purchased a 2nd hand Stream mp3 (with code) and plan to swap this weeked. At a glance the actual units seem the same size/ shape etc so no new surround needed hopefully. But just wondered if i am likely to need to swap any wiring over in the rear? Thanks very much

Yep it's a real pain the backside, but it's not just skodas. Mine had lots of condensation inside a few evening ago, took lots of blue roll to get rid. But once out i did notice loads of other modern cars were all steamed up. guess the climate controlled interiors need a sealed enviroment to work properly perhaps. I have just ordered some re-usable moisture absorbing pouches to leave in the car to try. My previous car VW Passat had similar issues.

What's a CAN gateway then? Expensive or a vcds visit?

Would this be ok to swap straight across to my somewhat older 2005 Octavia which has a Audience unit fitted?

Lets hear it for great independent garages!

Years ago, i used to head off down to Falmouth for a few days when my Saab needed servicing. The money saved over my local Saab dealers paid for the short break and the work was always great. -

Blimey, very good prices and nice to hear postive comments. Almost worth travelling up to get work done at those rates. -
1.9TDi PD vs 2.0TDi PD 140 advice
Northlodge replied to Mustard's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I have just gone from a 1.9tdi 100bhp passat saloon and got myself a 05 1.9tdi 105bhp elegance estate. Lots of things are very similar between the passat and octavia, but the octavia is definately nippier. Not done enough miles to check economy against the passat, but fingers crossed it will be as good or better. I had looked at passat estates, but am glad i chose the octy over the passat now. -
Engine oil and filter plus a new fuel filter was £119 so not to bad tbh. They also included a engine flush, which i never asked for and would not want again as don't really think it's needed. Mind when i initially asked for the engine oil, filter plus fuel filter they quoted me £139 for a lubrication service, plus £38 for the fuel filter. Was not until i re-iterated i did not want a service just the specified items it was reduced to the £119. Again just makes you wonder how many people just agree and pay up. I fitted a new air filter, cabin filter and rear wiper blade today again only took 10minutes if that per item, the wiper probably 30seconds

I had my new to me 05 Octavia in for a engine oil & filter change yesterday at Palmers Watford and they picked up that the near side puddle light was not working. I asked for them to send me through a price. Received price of just over £125 inc Inclusive of what i have no idea, but it has just taken me 10minutes to strip the wing mirror down, replace with new bulb (15p) and put back together. Mind i must say thanks to Palmers for picking it up as i thought only the drivers side had the puddle light up until yesterday Just out of interest, the dealer also picked up a fault on diagnostics with the glow plugs. Am i right in thinking the vcds should identify the specific glow plug which is faulty or would it just show all four? Just they wanted £185 for x4 glow plugs fitted
