the truth about electric cars
Your assumptions are way off the mark, I still say that an EV car should be capable of being used in adverse weather conditions. If we are to make the transition from ICE to EV, then we should be able to use the car in the same kind of manner as we do ICE ones. Ignoring the charging aspect for the moment, we should not be expected to give up using the car because there is some rain about which may form into puddles in some road conditions, which ICE cars take in their stride. Do not make the mistake of thinking I'm saying for a single moment that I would expect to drive either types of cars into what is clearly a flood, but you very often come across large puddles in a dip one side of a road or maybe right across the road, but I would expect a car to be able to cope with a puddle, could be a few inches deep and only be a few feet long. It would seem that I'm not alone in thinking an EV car should be more than capable of dealing with such events, even Electrifying.Com The Electric Car Experts agree with me and the following picture is taken from their website, which I posted a link to in my previous post today. In answer to the Tesla owner with the £17,000 bill, neither of us know the full story of that, and all anyone here can do is to work with the information we are told. I, for one, do not like to call anyone a liar when I don't have access to the full facts, so I give the owner the benefit of doubt until I could prove otherwise. On the other hand, however, we have all seen how manufacturers will attempt avoiding claims if they think they can get away with it. All too often they are ultimately forced to do a recall etc after some legal interventions have occurred.

the truth about electric cars
No, it is still possible to make batteries sealed against water ingress, after all many pieces of electrical equipment are required to work outside exposed to the elements or even submerged permanently. Electric cars and floods: everything you need to know (electrifying.com)

the truth about electric cars
Be that as it may, it still makes EV's less useful than an ICE as the battery would be below water well before water would be able to enter a combustion engine.

*Sigh* pushed-in front parking sensors...
I have the same problem, my 2nd from edge O/S/F sensor has become pushed in, is it at all possible to reach this and push it back flush without having to dismantle the front bumper at all? I was thinking that maybe a rubber band threaded through the hole and the sensor pushed back in with the rubber band "wedged" between it and the hole would be enough to hold the sensor in place.

the truth about electric cars
There are a few Teslas that are ICE powered, it seems. These guys are also working a diesel powered Model 3.
-
the truth about electric cars
@Rooted I don't recall seeing that, did they actually convert it to an ICE or not?
-
the truth about electric cars
Well, it could happen, I mean if people can convert any classic or other ICE car to become an EV, I therefore cannot rule out an EV being converted to being a ICE and laugh as much as you want, I fully expect that someone, somewhere will do it.

That was a violent battery failure for sure.

Lane assist is dangerous
That might be when the system thinks that you're on course to stray out of lane and its giving you a gentle nudge to let you know. The Nissan I had did that to me the first time when I was joining a motorway from a slip road. I was looking in my O/S mirror for a gap to join the main road and the slip lane was running out and as I approached the dotted line, the system kicked in and did the same making me think first of all that I had a wheel loose, and then it cut in and steered the car towards the hard shoulder, that was when I first realised the car was fitted with it.
-
Lane assist is dangerous
Well, I've also posted about lane assist here, while I don't drive a Kamiq, I do drive a Superb and it is a Skoda so I seriously doubt that there is much different in their lane assist systems seeing as the VAG group cars all tend to use common parts and just stick a different label on the part with their own part numbers, so I hope you're not also saying my posts are not valid?

Lane assist is dangerous
Not so on all cars, mine for instance via the touch screen which is IMO dangerous to go trawling through menus to turn it off. Not all makes of car are equal, the first car I came this feature on, it caught me totally unaware, that was a Nissan, and it really was aggressive and very alarming when you weren't expecting it. I had to pull over and check for problems. RTM I discovered that it had if I remember 3 different settings, again selected via the touch screen, and the previous driver had left it on the max setting.

RPM fluctuations after DPF & EGR removal
@gicu Looking at my MOT history, I can see the original owner did 40k in the 4 years that they had it for and the second owner did 42k in his first year, 42.5k in his second year and then 13k in the next 6 months before he sold it and I got it from the dealer at 137.5k, and it had the cam belt and water pump done, new brake pads and discs, brake fluid change and had the DSG oil changed, new N/S headlight (running light failed), new N/S rear light, lens was cracked, done before they would sell it to me. The high mileage that the second owner done, did make me think it might have been used as an airport taxi car, but the overall condition makes that seem unlikely. Now my regular garage who looked after my other car for almost 10 years has seen the car and is happy with it, I feel much more relaxed about the mileages as I know that if things are done at the right time, these cars are pretty much bulletproof. I can tell you that in the 2 months after my other one was written off, I did well over 2,000 miles trying to find another L&K in similar condition to my old car, and I saw plenty of dogs being offered at inflated prices for their condition, and it seemed that when one became available, if it was any good, they were snapped up within a couple of days. One car I saw in May at a dealer near Heathrow was trying to flog me an old dog of a car, all chrome trim round back windows, missing, huge crack in the windscreen, loads of small dents everywhere, tailgate was very noisy, engine rattled badly, would not do any work on the car to fix the problems or do the cam belt and water pump change etc, it was not even an L&K, over 130,000 miles and they still have that car for sale at almost £11k, more than I paid for my L&K with all of its extra toys. So yes, I had to put the leg work into finding a car that was a worthy successor but it was worth it.

the truth about electric cars
Sorry to bring this up again, but I'm puzzled just why we again find ourselves have a bit of a disagreement about this video when you self stated that you had no idea if it was staged or not. That surely means that you had your own doubts about its validity in the first instance, I refer you to your original post below. When I said that I thought it was staged, you started questioning it 🙄. Are you stirring the pot for a laugh here, that's what it looks like, and not for the first time 😉 either, judging by other posts I've seen in the past

RPM fluctuations after DPF & EGR removal
Do the seats look worn at all? If so I wonder if it had been a taxi with it's previous owner and thus doing a lot of short trips? I had similar concerns when I purchased my current car in June, it 137,000 miles on the clock the last 2 MOTs showed it had done 40,000 miles a year with it's 2nd owner. However, my seats do not show any signs of excess wear and the rest of car seemed to be in good order. The old car was like yours, a 2013 model which I had new and only done 78,000 miles in 9.5 years so was like new still. My local Skoda service dept recently looked over my car and declared it to be a good car, despite it's high mileage, it has been well looked after and everything has done when needed.

the truth about electric cars
It could well be the same woman or indeed one of the other women in the production company as sometimes they are blondes, redheads etc and always in some form of disguise. The woman in the charging video you posted, wearing shades on a dull, windy overcast day, talking and looking directly at the camera, when ring type doorbell cameras look like larger bell push-button, really? That car is not even on his driveway either, it was across the footpath. Just like the plane video, I could also clearly see that was staged in the opening few screens. If that was for real, then how did she manage to board the plane without him ever seeing her in the airport lounge? How did he not even look round when she actually used his seat to stand on when climbing into the locker, etc, it was so obvious that it was stage-managed. There are also simply loads of copycat videos out there, which that charging one could even be, who knows. It does however offer some slight entertainment value.

TV sucks and apart it sucking, SWMBO has to have her soaps, and other craps shows on so TV is really a no no for me these days. Here's another one of their shows https://www.facebook.com/OriginalAuthenticFun/videos/3584388955113598/?mibextid=zDhOQc

the truth about electric cars
Well, yes I do get to watch some odd videos etc on the internet, II have plenty of time to kill seeing as I'm retired and have been for 7 years, its cheap, can't afford to do much on the state pension. Here is one I found on Facebook of the airline one, see if you think its the same lady or not. Screenprint from Facebook, reveals that it is a produced video by Laura Harwood and Network media productions https://www.facebook.com/OriginalAuthenticFun/videos/521745659735998/?mibextid=zDhOQc

the truth about electric cars
This is what a ring doorbell video looks like. The people speaking through the camera speaker all sound garbled, in the other video it sounds like the man was there, but what ever.

the truth about electric cars
I have been looking for a example and so far I have drawn a blank, but I have seen one where she hides in an overhead locker on a airliner to allegedly propose to her boyfriend, in another sketch she is being searched by a customs officer, then in another she is playing the part of an angry Karen. If I find them, I'll gladly share them.

the truth about electric cars
If that was filmed on a ring doorbell camera, then it has been heavily edited because of the portrait format of the video and also the length of the video. I have one of those doorbell cameras and it films everything in landscape format. That video looks like it was shot on a mobile phone on a tripod and looks like those on TikTok and the man does not sound like he is talking through a mobile phone and then his voice should be coming through the camera's speaker, and they don't sound like that as they are rubbish.

RPM fluctuations after DPF & EGR removal
Hmm, I've had loads of diesels and I have never had any issues with the DPF, my current car has over 140,000 miles on the clock and again no issues with the DPF, no warning light in the instrument cluster and zero error messages on the ECU's and I do run a regular scan for error codes using my VCDS, So what is the current mileage of your car I wonder and what sort of drives are you doing i it?

the truth about electric cars
I think it is staged, there is a whole series of these videos on the internet and she seems to be in them all.

the truth about electric cars
Well like I said, had you watched the video, instead of jumping to the wrong conclusions, we wouldn't be doing this again🤔

They insert a tube up the tail pipe and analyse the fumes, so how do you know that your emissions are low enough to pass?
