  1. Full owners manual for the Vauxhall 2022 model can be downloaded here Vivaro Life, v.5 (rev 1), en-VX (Work nr: PP-185469E_50) (vauxhall.co.uk) I tried to post as a download, but the file is too large for the forum has set a limit.
  2. I wonder if it is the same thing as the Vauxhall Zafaira fires? Vauxhall Zafira B cars recalled again over fire risk - BBC News
  3. Seeing as the batteries are mounted low down under the floor and the van appears undamaged at that level, I doubt that the batteries were involved in the fire, it was I suspect more of a conventional car fire than an EV fire. Perhaps further information will come forward in the fullness of time?
  4. No, not daft or blind, it might just a newer system/or older system and nothing more to it.
  5. I have downloaded the owners manual and the attached page give the status for the lights when charging. Vivaro Life, v.1 (rev 2), en-VX (Work nr_ PP-156102H_50).pdf
  6. Correct, you can indeed have an ICE wav van, however let's not be hasty to make a judgement aspect on the merits of this video as we don't actually know what the complete picture is. For all we know, it could have been the only van that was available at short notice, or the only option at the time, he did say he had about a year ago, or indeed he might have selected it because it was the cheapest to run, I mean after you all keep on about how cheap EV's are to run when you can home charge, so maybe comments such as those may have swayed their decision-making, because as Geoff said, they wouldn't have loads of money at their disposal, and that fact is re-enforced by the fact they had no house insurance. So let's keep an open mind, like I always do. Its just like the recent ship fire The Fremantle Mantle, there are those who leapt into action and, most strongly defended and argued that EV's did not either start the fire or were even involved in it, and continue to do so, even though there are photos that show a torched Posrche Taycan on board which is a EV. I have always said that it was a strong possibility they were involved in the fire because of the grey/white smoke which is typical of a EV battery fire, if it was just normal ICE or even EV (but no battery pack involved) that the smoke is black and dense because of the plastics involved. For that, we shall have to wait for the official report to be released as to what the actual cause of it was.
  7. I must admit that when I read your post here, I was mystified why that might be happening, and I think I have possibly found at least one answer other than the one that springs to mind about the views and provision of picnic tables at Tebay. That could be that a lot of people do not use charging apps like Zap etc and instead do what I did just now to see why that might be, use Google Earth for Burton-in-Kendal shows and it shows a text overlay for Gridserve but the charge stations are located at the opposite side of the car park, not where it indicates it should be. By persevering and looking all over the street view I managed to locate them and it only shows 2 which are Electrocity, so clearly out of date. Doing the same for Tebay and it does however show the charge points in the same location as the text overlay, and it shows 3 bays, not the 2 of Burton-in-Kendal.
  8. Then why state "They are not allowed Nuclear, they lost a war, trust is the issue. " Incidently, I used to work for Tehalit and Hager Powertech in Germany.
  9. Nope, German did have 17 nuclear power plants. Nuclear power in Germany - Wikipedia
  10. Yes I do know about Germany, I used to work for a Germany company and have spent some time working over there as well. While they might not have much gas of their own, they do possibly have the potential to produce loads of the stuff. They have some of the largest open coal deposits in the world there and new ones being opened up. They are being forced to open more mines as they decided to phase out nuclear power for safety reasons and because of the war(s) that Russia keeps creating. Maybe they can find a way of extracting gas from the Lignite which will be cleaner. 11. That was also my understanding as well. The power for producing the E fuel has already been stated would be coming from a mix of solar and wind in general so the production of E fuels can be very green indeed, what they have to do is industrialise its production.
  12. No, because I said its fine if the charging points are on your route, which in your case they are, but so often they happen to be a few miles of the route. The most direct route might be to keep to the "A" trunk road or the motorway and the alternative charging point might require you to leave that route and enter a town etc that sits a few miles to the side of that route and that is where the problems might happen with traffic, roadworks etc what I was getting at. So no, not being deliberately obtuse, it was that you misunderstood what I was saying.
  13. Yes, but the same can be said for most countries, the UK for instance is not self-sufficient for oil, gas or electric, so we are no better in that regard, so we are likewise producing pollution in other parts of the world in order to have cleaner air here, and yet we are all still producing greenhouse gasses and adding to the global warming effect.
  14. Agreed, but then you do happen to have a more sensible priced and HP powered car, there are those with dual motors and massive big f**koff HP outputs and battery packs that weigh so much more.
  15. Exactly my point, it is fake news by someone who may be an EV hater, we really don't know for certain, either way it is giving EVs a worse name unnecessarily.
  16. I share your sentiments about taking anything any politician says with a large pinch of salt, they will change their minds and story at the drop of a hat if it means they gain popularity and maybe retain their job. Watching those 2 videos I have these comments to make on them, in the first one, are we certain that the VW car that crashes into the bus actually is an EV? If it was a Tesla it would be a proven case, but in this incident, I'm not so sure? In the second video, he raises some good points and are the points that I feel that many people buy into the EV ethos because they think that they are helping to improve their air quality, particularly in large cities. But as the video points out, that while is true, they are more than likely, still polluting the air but remotely, so someone else has to suffer the emissions and then there are the emissions and toxins released in the mining of the minerals required for the batteries etc. Like I say, the technology is still very young and is developing at a rapid pace, we do not yet fully understand exactly what the full implications are going to be pitching that against ICE, we do understand the implications of it, we have come a long way with reducing emissions from them and can do a lot more if politicians bite the bullet and place a ban on large capacity engines and introduce E fuels, we can become carbon-neutral. EV makers are also not really helping the planet by the way they keep producing high power cars with stupidly high HP outputs and blistering performance in terms of pure speed and acceleration. If they were to focus more on producing cars that had more sensible HP outputs coupled with a higher ratio final drive and thus higher range per charge and less acceleration, then costs would be reduced, and more importantly insurances as well. Like the presenter said, I think there is a place for both EV and ICE in the modern world, and I feel that it should be down to consumers to decide for themselves which cars best suit their requirements.
  17. Don't forget the weight of the battery more than compensates for the fuel tank and its contents, and of course with an ICE, as you drive the weight is getting less all the time, with EV, that is not happening, you are always carrying around the full weight.
  18. I know that, but in a recent interview, the PM said that they were not installing enough chargers to meet the requirements for all new car sales to be EV only by 2030. I take that to mean that they need the extra 5 years in order to enough chargers installed so people can find one when they need one, otherwise charge rage really will become an major issue, we see fuelling rage when liquid fuel is scarce for instance.
  19. That is a good layout arrangement for the charging, if the unthinkable should happen, it is unlikely to spread to adjacent cars, whereas the cars parked end on to the kerb are a tad too close and you see many chargers where you have to park in this fashion.
  20. That's fine if both are actually on your way, but if it involves deviating away from your route, then that itself can create a host of other unwanted problems. The truth is that by the government's own admission, they are just not installing charge points at anything like the daily rate that is required to be able to hit their own self-imposed target date of 2030 and that's one reason for the push back to 2035.
  21. With carrying all this extra weight around with you all the time, not only will you maybe have no boot space left, but your miles per kwh will suffer.
  22. As more switchover to EV, they could actually take some pumps out and repurpose the lanes for fast charging with queueing built-in.
  23. @toot What, you still have a hut and a human at car parks in Scotland, that's cool, I that be true at all car parks, but sadly all the car parks in my city have long gone to either barriers that you have to insert a prepaid exit card into, after paying on foot at a machine, or are pay on foot at a machine and enter your registration number or by mobile phone at the time of parking, and you have to estimate the time you need and then you leave the car park a camera checks how long you paid for. If you over stayed, a PCN lands on your door mat a few days later. Even the out-of-town retail parks are all camera controlled and you either get 2hr or 3hr free, depending on which retail site you go to, no return within 1 hour and a £85 PCN charge if you stay longer than 2 hours, and that includes queueing time to exit the park, its all about the money here.
  24. I think this would only work if you have the space to arrange the queueing stack of cars, not easy for instance at most of the motorway services the way the chargers and parking bays are arranged.
  25. True, unfortunately these days many people have a short fuse.
